Rudest thing you have ever seen at a WDW restaurant

I hope this isn't off-topic but it DOES involve an experience at a WDW restaurant. Just thought of it and thought I'd share. This happened 2 years ago. If I hadn't seen it with my own 2 eyes I wouldn't have believed it. We went into lunch at Pizzafari in AK and it was very crowded. DH went into the long line to order for us while I waited to the side with our kids until a table opened up. One did, (in the back to the left as you walk in). We sat down and I sat facing the counter so I could see if dh needed help carrying something when he finally got his order. A family of 5 walked in. (I'm just assuming the roles of these people judged on what I saw). It was grandpa and grandma in their early 50's, a couple in their early 30's (dd and sil) and their child who was about 18 months old. I think they caught my eye because of their body language. You could tell that they were annoyed that the place was so busy and that there weren't any tables available. The 30-ish man (I'm going to call him Mr. Rockhead ;-) circled the restaurant looking for a table. One opened up right in front of where we were sitting. He practically ran a couple over to get to the table and waved his family over. The trouble was, even with a high chair for the baby, they were one chair short. "Mr. Rockhead" looks around for a chair. This is where it gets surreal. The next table over is a couple (guessing) in their late 60's. The dh was still finishing his food and looking around people watching. The lady (whose back was to "Mr. Rockhead") barely stood up just so she could reach across the table to clean up some napkins, etc. and tidy the table up. She still had her drink in her hand. She hadn't left her chair, it was right under her. Have you ever seen something that kind of goes into slow motion and you can almost tell what's going to happen but think, "No way!." Yup. "Mr. Rockhead turns around grabs the chair right out from under the lady and pulls it to their table just as the poor lady goes to sit back down in (the chair she expected to be there) and falls completely to the floor with her drink and ice going everywhere. It happened so fast that her poor dh didn't know what happened and she was so shocked I don't think she did either. People around her rushed to help her up (while "Mr. Rockhead" looks puzzled as to what happend grrrr) and she was so embarrassed that all she wanted to do was leave. I am normally a calm person and I am not one to cause a scene in public but I SAW with my own two eyes what had happened and I wanted SO badly to tell that guy what I thought of him. My dh comes back and asks what all the uproar was and I proceeded to tell him in detail not LOUD but since they were right in front of us loud enough that his family heard me tell what happened. The manager, after seeing the wetness on the floor (caused by the lady falling, not WHAT caused her fall) starting chewing out an older lady CM who was cleaning up about the floor and that it must have been wet and that's why the lady fell. That's when I had had enough. Hearing this lady reemed out for something she wasn't responsible for while "Mr. Rockhead" sits back stuffing his face and says nothing." I called the manager over and politely (but loud enough for the Rockhead family to hear) explained exactly what happened, and that it was NOT wetness on the floor that caused the fall. I said, "Have you not noticed that that table that had 2 chairs only has one and there is one next to it that had 4 and now has 5? While the manager was thanking me for telling him what I saw, needless to say "Mr. Rockhead" and his family were out of there like rockets. My dh said to me jokingly that if it was any consolation, Mr. Rockhead was in the middle of his many pieces of pizza when they had to scramble. To be honest, I felt sorry for his family since I think they were embarrassed at what he had done. But please????!!!!! That was a HARD floor and falling from that height could seriously hurt someone! I'm sure he didn't go in intending to cause a lady to fall, but if he weren't in such a frenzy and had any manners he would have seen that they were not leaving the table just yet just because she rose to her feet.

Whoa! That's a heck of a story. No way I can top it! My sister told me that when her family was eating at the restaurant in the Living Seas there was a family leaving the same time they did and just as they were out of the restaurant, the dad starting beating the kid for not finihing his expensive meal. My sister flagged down and CM and sent the CM to stop the dad. What a way to ruin a perfectly nice dinner, having to see that. And worse of course would be having to endure it.

That is truly horrible. It's lucky that poor lady didn't break a hip!

What a horrible thing to witness! And you too, Sinderella, I can't believe what you saw!! Was the dad physically beating his son??? Personally, I think that may be even more horrible that the op's story. Either way, both of those incidents are just to awful to imagine. I guess I've been fortunate - I don't really have anything to add to this thread (yet)

Oops, I forgot Sinderellas story as I read it quite a while before I actually got around to posting! That is horrible too.

I wonder how CMs handle that? Has to be very touchy...poor little boy!

Can't really top any of the above, but at Flying Fish did see a couple let their young son up on the table to crawl around and pick food off their plates with his hands!!
Disgusting as that was to me and Mrs. U, the parents were absolutely beside themselves with laughter--getting a big kick out of it.

My sister witnessed the beating.. according to her it was an all out beating, not just a spanking. She left once the CM got to the scene, she was so shaken and so were her kids. I'll bet my sister's kids appreciated their mom a lot more after seeing that.

Can't top the story from Rafikifan, but here's what I experienced on my recent trip.

While dining at the Crystal Palace, I looked up to see a woman changing a diaper full of messy poop (you could smell it from my table) at the table. The child was squirming and there was poop all over the place, so she wiped it up with one of the cloth napkins from the table. To top all of this, she dropped the dirty diper on the table and left. GROSS!!!!!!!! I wanted to say "USE THE BATHROOMS FOR THIS!!!" :crazy2:

My other adventure with rudeness was at Spoodles. I was sitting there nice and quiet, trying to enjoy my meal. At the next table 4 women were sitting there, chit chatting & drinking their wine, while there toddlers were running around the restaurant, crawling under the tables playing and eating the food that was dropped under there, dragging booster seats across the floor and screaming!!! :headache:

This is what makes me want Disney to have designated "adult only" restaurants!!!

My story comes from the waitstaff at a unnamed Epcot world showcase restaraunt. My extended family vacationed together, thee was about 6 of us, and we decided to lunch at this particular restaraunt. After my mother left a very large cash tip, and we were exiting, the waitress started chasing us down and yelling at us. She kept asking over and over was the service not good? We stated that it was fine, but she kept asking over and over, and it was getting louder and louder. By then everyone in the restaraunt was staring at us, and the manager walked over to us to ask what the problem was. We were still clueless to what the problem was, but then realized that the waitress had the money folded up and never saw the additional bills underneath the others. The manager asked us to please leave because we were making a scene! Needless to say, I felt like ripping that tip out of her hand!

This wasnt too bad, but...

On Christmas Eve I walked into the bathroom at Le Cellier. The handicapped stall was locked so only one was available, but it was in use. 2 women were waiting ahead of me. I heard the woman in the other stall saying rather loudly on her cell phone something about being told by an impatient person that she cant pee & talk at the same time. When she finally came out she snapped at the first lady in line saying "You have a merry Christmas too!". After she left I asked the 2nd lady in line what happened as I could tell I walked in on the middle of something. I guess that woman was in the stall forever talking away. I believe it because I did notice the 1st woman in line walk by our table quite a bit earlier. The 2nd woman in line knocked on the door and said something to let her know that people were waiting on her and I guess she was not happy about it.

So Disers take note...dont try to pee and talk on the phone at the same time! ;)

can't top the first two, but this was the worst I have seen. On our last trip we were eating at 50's Prime Time. We were seated next to a large party of about 10 who were running the poor waitress ragged- they were on one of the meal plans, and were ordering as much food as they could, and then taking a couple bites out of it and piling the food in the middle of the table. They ordered beverages one at a time even after the waitress asked everyone at the table if they needed anything to drink. After they each ordered a dessert more than half of their group left, and never came back, so most of the desserts went to waste. i felt really bad for the waitress:(

Didn't see it but 'HEARD' the mother in the room next to ours slapping and cursing her 2 kids!!! The sound of her hand striking their faces was undeniable. My DS (12) was in tears! I called hotel security who came immediately. They were there 3 more nights and fortunately we did not hear another peep.

These were just 2 little boys being little boys - they were about 4 and 6. It was all I could do not to beat the door down myself. Security came to our room and apologized for the noise - all we could think of was what a horrible Christmas memory that must be for those little guys.

And yes, my kid must have told me a hundred times how glad he was we didn't discipline like that!

Wow! What a sense of deja vu!! I could swear I read the first story almost word for word somewhere else at some other time. Did you, by any chance, include it in a trip report, somewhere? It's wierd -- I knew exactly what was going to happen.

Pat, now that you mention it I do think I posted about it in a trip report on another Disney site when we returned from our trip. I used to visit there until you had to wade through so many argumentative posts it became worthless to visit there and I decided to come to DIS exclusively. As I'm sure you can imagine it's just not something one forgets. It bummed my afternoon because all I could think of was that I KNEW that even though I'm in my 30's an unexpected fall with no chance to brace myself straight down on my bottom would HURT and could cause back problems and no telling what else, so I wondered if the lady ever had to seek medical attention because I'm sure she was really feeling it that night. And to add insult to injury you could just see on her face her embarrassment and I truly believe she didn't even know what happened. She had tears and just kept telling her husband she wanted out of there which I can understand. And then for the "gentleman" who caused it to not rush to help and apologize as he should, but stood back like he knew nothing even when the lady cleaning up was being blamed for it by the manager. That's when me, a person who doesn't normally like to get into the middle of things, was really angry at that sort of behavior. Like I said, I didn't make a scene but after I told the manager, he knew that I had seen it and his face was as about as red as it could get. As I said in my original post it was just unreal to see unfold in front of you and I guess that's why I decided to start the thread.

At Jiko this past September we were seated across from a family consisting of the two parents and their son who was disabled. The father kept hitting the son and getting mad at him for stuff like the son not looking right at the father or being a bit messy, etc. The worst part was that the father was even crueler to the son when the mother left the table. It was upsetting. :(

We saw something really disturbing at Cosmic Ray's . I know many people use those kid harnesses to keep tabs on their young children and that's fine with me. I just have never seen them used like this: We saw this boy around 7 years old in a harness and I swear the mom was treating him like a dog. She was saving the table for her husband and everytime the boy got up, she would yank that leash really hard, like she was walking a dog. Actually, I wouldn't even yank a dog's leash that hard. I tried not to stare, but the boy would appear in front of me and then I'd see him suddenly yanked back. The mom told me to please ignore her son as he is very hyper active and didn't take his meds yet. I was just in shock.

A couple of years ago my daughter had broken her leg prior to our vacation. She was 13 and weighed just over 100 lbs. One evening we decided to eat at the outdoor restaurant in the Mexico pavillion in Epcot. We didn't pay attention to the sky or weather as it looked like rain all day. I

was waiting for a table with my daughter and my three other children when a woman who was sitting told me she was just about finished and asked if I would like her seat. I said yes and thanked her. I didn't want to stand right over her and remained about 10 feet away while she and her family finished up. As soon as she stood, a very large woman ran (and I mean ran) past me, pushed my daughter's wheel chair back on me (I fell over & scratched my leg). She didn't even apologize. She just sat down at the table before the other woman even picked up her belongings to leave.

I am not usually one to cause a scene either. But this was ridiculous. I had people helping me up and my youngest was scared to death. I looked at this woman and said I hope you enjoy your seat inspite of your rude & selfish behavior.

I waited some more (right in front of her table) and found another seat that was somewhat covered. Needless to say it began to downpour and the rude woman got soaked! We managed to stay dry.

Not really rude, just bad manners, but at the Norway buffet I saw a woman pick up her dessert plate and lick it clean. It was disgusting.

People yanking chairs out from underneath one another - people knocking others over in an attempt to grab a table - beating children in public - beating children in hotel rooms - changing diapers at a dinner table - licking a plate clean.....

WHERE are these people coming from?????????

I'm hoping to get back to WDW in April and this kind of stuff makes me wonder if I really want to go back... :(

Yes, you do want to go back! For every 1 rude person, you will encounter 100s of kind, happy polite people.

The same year my daughter was in the wheelchair we met --

A man at AK who during a thunder storm gave up his poncho so my daughter could keep her leg dry and stay and watch the parade.

Several CMs who went out of their way to allow her to do things that she may not have been able to do. Genie sat on her lap, Pluto carried her around the Garden Grill, A CM in Fantasy Land escorted her/us to some of the handicapped lines

An older gentleman in Epcot who was so encouraging to her (she was told she would never skate again). The man had broken the same bone and was walking with a cane around Epcot two weeks after getting his cast off!

Cute little kids who would read the signatures my daughter had on her cast (from characters) and ask if they could sign her cast too.

People who understood that I was not accustomed to steering a wheelchair and did not raise a fuss when I accidentally hit them.

We didn't use the buses much but when we did - the drivers and other riders were very understanding and helpful. No one ever complained that they had to give up their seat for the wheelchair spot. Very kind understanding people.
