It really depends on the CM you get. I had a CM ask me to show my pass in order to get a discount on the popcorn on Main Street this past weekend and then when I showed it to her in my Apple wallet, she then asked me to pull it up in the MDE app to show the expiration date. And then I told her it also said DVC in there, would I have to do the same if I had said I have DVC instead of the AP to which she replied no. But I've never had another CM ask me to show them the expiration date of my pass in MDE.Last week I had a CM say I was required to also show a photo ID along with my Google Wallet that I opened live and showed her DVC-Y. She claimed it was the policy, but that was my final purchase over four days, and it was the only one that ever claimed that. I didn't have my wallet on me (paying with my magicband...) so she said she'd let it slide. Come on...
In another instance I had a CM tell me I had to show them the expiration date of my DVC and I was like.. you mean in 2070..? You know that none of the resorts end until 2042 and she gave me a bunch of attitude for not being able to pull it up. Immediately after I realized she was talking about the temporary card you can print out that lasts for 1 month that hardly anyone ever actually uses. I really should've contacted a manager to complain but I didn't want to cause a fuss over some stupid 10% discount and cause someone to be reprimanded even though she probably deserved it but it wasn't exactly what I wanted to do on my vacation.
Anyways, all this to say it seems the training is inconsistent but also I can't fault the cast members entirely. They make these things unnecessarily complex on them. Instead of it saying DVC-Y or DVC-N. It should've just said DVC or BLUE to indicate membership benefits and have nothing listed in the affiliation/group if they don't qualify.
