Princess Sydney's Wish Trip PTR

You guys looking for rental cars should check out MouseSavers.com, too. They have tons of hints for getting more discounts on rental cars. :)

The rental is booked by GKTW. Its with National. I"ve got a wonderful minivan rental deal with Budget (also on airport property) for the extension timeframe but National can't come close to it. Do you know if National may extend GKTW rate if they switch the extension to our name?

What a crazy weekend! We had family visit who I haven't seen in years and years. It took ages to clean that house and cook dinner (just in case they could stay) but it was all worth it. It was so nice to see everyone! Despite that, I was still pretty productive! I bought sneakers for me and DS2. I think they'll be fine although we need to wear them a bit more before we go. I'm also going to bring the old sneakers just in case. I measured CJ (DS2) once we got home and low and behold... still below 40in. :confused3 Now, when Sydney went when she was just 3, she didn't pass the height for Kali (it was only 38in but she had water shoes on). When we went on Soarin the next day, DH suggested she try. I didn't even want to bother... but she made the height requirement... and did again for Test Track, Splash and BTMRR ... so I'm really hoping their sticks are a bit off... CJ is off by about 1/2 in and I really want him to be able to ride. He's such a daredevil ... I know he'd love it.

Let's see, what else, ohhhhh, Grand Floridian called about the cake! I had absolutely no luck getting a peanut free custom made cake for CP but the lady at GF was amazing! Apparently, all chocolate in the US has may contain warning... didn't know that... its different here. Anyway, that's the reason for a problem customizing a cake, because their backer is white chocolate. I'm not worried about the custom part because Sydney won't eat that even though Lucas may. As long as the cake part is safe, I'm ok. I try to avoid 'may contain' but her allergist said its likely ok. Anyway, when she found out DD is a wish child, she offered to make a vanilla cupcake for her... I questioned it because it supposed to be Lucas' special day but she said "But you said she doesn't like chocolate cake much... we really can do a special one for her"... I took it as early pixie dust and said ok (I hope CJ is ok with that ... he loves chocolate so he'll devour the cake anyway). They asked her name so I'm not sure if that'll be on the cupcake or not. :goodvibes Lucas' cake is going to be stitch theme. She suggested fondant so they could do something really fun with it. I can't wait to see it! Its only 6in (could have had 8in) but that'll be enough for us.

I also realized this weekend that I need to get school supplies :scared1: And back to school clothing :scared1: All the big sales start in early August and I'll be missing them. Sydney starts Junior Kindergarten this year and Lucas goes to grade 3. I figure the more I get done before we go, the easier it will be to get last minute things when we get back. I went on Disney Store website and found the perfect backpack for Sydney ... Princesses! They had a 20% off sale on til yesterday so I figured I'd take the chance and order it for delivery to GF... we don't get confirmation until tomorrow night that we'll actually be able to stay there even though I've been told its approved so part of me is concerned plans will change and our packages will go no where ... I'm probably worried about nothing though...

I need to order a prepaid phone... DH has his blackberry but my phone won't work in the US... actually doesn't work here most of the time :lmao: We had cheapo Virgin ones last trip but I didn't top them up and the number was lost. I think its easier to just pay the extra $10 for a new one for this trip... just need to figure it out... anyone know, if you buy a prepaid phone from Walmart, will they activate it for you too? Oh, do the grocery stores like Publix sell these types of phones?

Hope everyone has a great day!

I'm not sure on the rental. We had Avis the last time and I couldn't get ahold of anyone to ask that question. I didn't want to take a chance and went somewhere else. If we do change rental companies..it will be someone at the airport. We lost a whole day the last time.
I guess I missed the cake post. Are you going to have a custom cake made at WDW?

Thanks Maroo! I'm pretty sure that's where I found such a great deal on the Budget car. The problem with National right now is that they're not even listing minivans ... guess they're all booked.

We are! We're celebrating Lucas' 8th bday while there and I really wanted to get him a stitch themed cake as a surprise but with Sydney's peanut allergy, it was becoming much harder than I expected.

Today is a crazy day so the update will be short but I couldn't start the day without sending out a big thank you for another Big Give Sydney received the most amazing Belle dress yesterday. She loves it and just looks adorable in it. I took pics but they're at home (I'm at work) so I'll post them this evening. It may be late though because our Wish Granter is coming tonight. :cool1: We'll have final documents for everything. Yeah! I think I've decided to buy some of the kids back to school clothing online and have it shipped to the resort. The prices are much better in the US and to ship it here costs a fortune plus we have duty. We never max the amount allowed while in the US so we could get it back with better prices than here, no taxes and no shipping/duty... waiting for final confirmation about the resort firs though... ok, gotta get some work done today. I'll check in later. :wave2:

Wow you guys are so close!!! The cake sounds great. I love Stitch! It is so nice they are doing her own cupcake. Can't wait to read how tonight goes and see the latest BIG GIVE!!

Here it is!! I feel terrible about the delay but sometimes life just takes over. Its been crazy here. Lucas is in camp again this week and he starts early and ends early which means rushing after work to get him. Only two more days left though!

As I mentioned earlier, on Monday I came home to a wonderful Big Give. It was from Jennifer (Jeniamy). Sydney was fascinated by the package... it was pink! Lucas helped open it this time. :goodvibes

Lucas read the note while Sydney unwrapped the parcel.

We had been having a discussion for awhile now as to what she'd wear at Akershus. I was suggesting Snow White but Sydney wanted Sleeping Beauty. Well, actually, she wanted Belle but she doesn't have a Belle costume. As soon as she opened the package she decided that this is what she'd wear to breakfast that day.

In the past few days we've also received the pins that were MIA as well as the replacement silicone safety bracelets for the kiddos. Everything is falling into place :cool1:

Sydney's wish coordinator came to visit last night. It was the first time we met her. She's wonderful! So very sweet! Sydney was excited all day ... I half expected that she though the fairy godmother was coming, or at least someone similar, but she wasn't let down at all when she opened the door. Emily had a stuffed lion, Rory, who is mascot of the wish foundation... and he was just for Sydney. Sydney received an invitation for the Bippity Boppity Boutique and her very own backpack. We all received Tshirts, luggage tags and wish pins. She expressed how happy she was that we were booked through GKTW because through their experience, those wish families staying offsite if not through GKTW don't get the special treatment or access that GKTW kids do... I'm not sure about that because I think I've heard otherwise here but it could be becuase the Children's Wish Foundation is a smaller group... she said she wasn't sure if the cast members would recognize our wish buttons ... but it didn't matter becuase in the end, we were booked through GKTW. We received our flight nformation, our car rental information and a bunch of other documents. The only glitch is that for the travel insurance, she needs the boys doctors to sign off on their papers because of their medical issues (bleeding disorder and blood clotting disorders)... their paed is on holidays so she's going to try and get them signed at the children's hospital. I'm hoping she doesn't run into too much trouble. The kids issues are well under control so Lucas only sees his specialist once a year and Caiden has only seen his specialist once. It was so exciting to have Emily visit. I showed her some of hte amazing things we've received from the Big Give. She was just in awe of it all as she had never heard of it.

I spent today working from home and trying to get a few things done off my to do list. I printed our stroller tag and that's at Staples getting laminated. I almost finalized our touring plans. Just need to print them. I cleaned out our luggage (last trip was to Mexico.. I had no idea how much of the beach we brought home! :rolleyes1) Still a bunch to do but I'm feeling better about things. I'm working from home tomorrow too so hopefully I'll get a bit of time in between working to get a few more things crossed off my list. :thumbsup2

Oh...i love the countdown calendar. I need to do one for Kylee. She is driving me nuts already. She doesn't have a since for time.

That is adorable! The perfect thing for breakfast with royalty. princess:

I agree! :goodvibes And it will be a whole lot more comfortable that the Snow White dress we were considering.

Thanks! Its so easy to make. We do it each trip and the kids just love it... and as long as they don't fight too much over whose turn it is to take off the 'day', I'm happy.

aww beautiful dress on a beautiful girl , she will look amazing in disney :)

She is so excited. I just hope this trip is everything she is hoping for.

Aww it's so pretty!!! She is beautiful!

She is my beautiful little princess. :lovestruc

I spent quite a bit of time yesterday packing. I have the toiletries bag packed which for five of us, is a huge accomplishment. And it includes all the little things like pool toys too. I now need to do carry on bags, our park bag (I plan to fill it and pack it filled so that its ready for the next day when we arrive) and, well, the clothes of course. I want to pack them but I"m worried about them getting all wrinkly if I start too early.

Bit by bit, I'm knocking things off my list. I still need to call GKTW about orienation on arrival day... I keep putting it off in part I thikn because I'm afraid they'll say no, you have to come to the nighttime one... that will just be so hard on everyone after such an early start to the day. I should bit the bullet and just call.

We arrived just after noon I believe and GKTW had told us there would be a 3:30ish (or 3:45) orientation or we could attend the 7:30ish one that was fine. I think there was only 2 that didn't attend the earlier one that they were expecting in our time frame. I had called and asked some questions off and on before our trip and they were always very sweet. I don't think they mind at all:)

When we went...they had a morning orientation(at least I think so). We got to GKTW at 6pm..hurried up and ate than husband went to the orientation while I got the kids ready for bed.

It looks like things are coming along. I hoep it goes well. I love the BG stuff. My little girls saw the Belles dress and was in love with it! Take care and take it easy. God Bless.
Brooke:cloud9:

So glad the Belle dress finally arrived. I would have introduced myself earlier but I am in Maine for a couple of weeks and don't have internet up here. I had to make a trip to the public library to check e-mails and thought I would check in with my Dis friends. I am delighted that she liked the dress and even happier to see that it fits! Have a wonderul time and I can't wait to see the photos when you guys get back!!!
