Our Happily Ever After Begins at WDW... An August 2016 Disneymoon report! The Re-write!

Wow, love all your updates. Your pictures of all the places are wonderful. We didn't spend much time at Epcot this trip so I am enjoying all your photos of world showcase. We also enjoyed FEA, I really thought it was done well. We also saw E and A in their new spot and this was really cute as well. I love your dining updates as well, you ate at some good spots, I haven't been to most you all chose so this is fun to see the reviews!
Thank you so much! I'm so glad someone is enjoying them. Epcot is my favorite park (World Showcase, specifically) I could spend the whole day there! We didn't make it to see E and A, I'm glad you liked it! From photos I've seen, it looks so cute! Thank you again for reading along! :flower3:

You're jammin' on this trip report. Helping pass the time for upcoming trip.

We headed back to the resort and I snapped some more photos:

We were greeted by more cute towel-creations in the room:

And for some reason I decided to finally take photos of the mug included in DDP:

DAY 4: DISNEY SPRINGS
I still call it Downtown Disney. It's a hard habit to break.
We slept in a little (8 am vs 5 or 6 am) and headed to Disney Springs. Today was supposed to be our "rest day". No parks, and just eating and shopping. It was cloudy in the morning, and it looked like it might rain for the first time our whole trip.
For some reason, I took photos of the ads on the top of the buses:

Very random, but seeing the bus reminds me of our trip, and makes me happy.

I like the new DS. I know a lot of people bash it as an over-priced run of the mill outdoor mall, but I went with low expectations. I went expecting to just spend the day at a FL mall. But I liked the atmosphere, the attention to detail, and of course the dining options. It still had the Disney feel to it I was hoping for.

We had 2 TS ADR's for this day, so I knew we were going to need to do a lot of walking to regain our appetites!

We rushed over to Earl of Sandwich, since it was a must do for us. Neither of us had ever eaten there, and I was determined to finally try their Turkey Holiday sandwich. DH had been drooling over photos of The Full Montagu. The plan was to eat half, and save the other half for later.

Mine was beyond delicious. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. DH said his was really good too. I ate half of mine... then ate the other half. It was just too good.

We tried to walk around as much as possible, we had an ADR at Frontera Cocina in just 2 hours! Shopping always works up an appetite though.

This was so fun to watch. I've never seen glass art being made before. It was really cool to see how they incorporate the colors into the glass.
It started to rain while we were in Arribas Brothers. We got really lucky this trip. I expected rain every day, and it only rained for about an hour on our DS day, and for about an hour on our last day while we were in 'Ohana.

Soon, it was time for lunch. I was so excited about this ADR. We love Rick Bayless, and have watched him for years. I even own one of his cookbooks. I was thrilled when I heard they were going to be opening a restaurant of his in WDW, and even more thrilled that it would be open when we went!

It was completely empty at 12:00, we were the only ones for a while, until 2 other tables showed up. I was surprised.

The atmosphere here is very clean, almost sterile-looking. It doesn't have that warm, inviting atmosphere that most other restaurants have. It kind of made it feel like a QS restaurant rather than a TS. No matter, we were here for the food!

I got a watermelon margarita. It was good, and very stong.
20160824_111044.jpg

DH got.... you guessed it! A beer.

20160824_111732.jpg

DH got chicken enchiladas, and I got the shrimp mojo de ajo, with plantain rice. It was served with fresh tortillas. I was torn between the mojo de ajo, and the chicken mole, but DMIL makes ridiculously good mole. I knew I'd only be comparing it, rather than enjoying it as a different dish.

Both dishes were very good. For dessert, we got the cuatro leches, which I was most excited about (I love tres leches), and the fried platano sundae with Mexican vanilla ice cream. The cuatro leches was ok, but the sundae was amazing. The warm plantains, matched with the (delicious) ice cream was just so good. DH liked it a lot as well.

I'm glad we tried this restaurant out, but we probably won't do it again. I don't think we were expecting better, since we enjoyed everything, but it just didn't become a must-do for us. I would recommend it, especially if you're a fan of Mexican food.

We checked out some more shops and walked around some more. I was fascinated by the cakes at Amorette's Patisserie. So beautiful.

We didn't get anything at Amorette's, but we did try cupcakes from Sprinkles. Another one of our must-try places.

DH got salted caramel, and I got rainbow sprinkled. We both thought they were really good. The cake was very moist, and the icing was not overly sweet, which I liked.

Characters in Flight was on our list to do, but because of nearby storms, they were not running. Something else to save for next trip.

We stopped at Starbucks to get some water and cool off. I'm not sure if I mentioned it, but I think we hit almost every QS restaurant and Starbucks in the parks for iced water, and we never had an issue. In fact, most QS places have bunches of water cups made up already to move things along quickly.

I don't know why, but I love this area of Disney Springs:

At the time, I couldn't justify buying a blanket in Florida summer heat, but now I wish I bought it. I love that blanket. Maybe next trip.

DH got the beer flight, which he liked. Based on the photos, the conversation probably went something like: "smile, babe." "seriously, you have to smile" "ok, you can't drink your beers til you smile for a photo"

We ordered the scallop forest, which I've always wanted to try. Delicious.

DH got the steak, and I got the salmon of knowledge. We both agreed it was the best meal we had the whole trip. I couldn't stop raving about my salmon. The woman sitting next to me actually ordered the same thing after seeing mine, and she said it was the best meal she had as well.
