Official Birthday/Anniversary Cake thread

This is what I know. When they first released photos of the "Happiest Celebration on Earth" desserts, they released a dark choc slipper dessert photo.

It was never available though in dark chocolate once they started serving it.

Then I started seeing posts this past Fall of folks who ate at the CRT getting a big surprise. Their slipper dessert was dark chocolate rather than white! They did NOT request dark chocolate though. I do not know if you can.

That's all I know about it.

So, can we only get the chocolate slipper at CRT? We can't get the white chocolate one?

No, they offer the white chocolate one there for the most part BUT as of last Fall only some CRT guests reported being surprised when they got their slipper and it was dark chocolate rather than white.

When calling to order it, I would ask them point blank; Do you only have white chocolate slippers or do you also have dark chocolate slippers and see what they say.

maybe they were just testing the dark chocolate slipper for a while.

Stitchywoman...
you will want to pm fairytalebride I am pretty sure she is still working for disney.

On the Food Porn thread I saw the slipper dessert in the castle was a regular chocolate (not white chocolate) slipper with the chocolate mousse piped in it. It looks different than the other pictures I've seen on it from the GF.

Any clues?

Kim

I think that might have been my picture you saw on the food porn thread recently. Here it is again:

We had this in Feb. 08 and I specifically asked for chocolate with chocolate because my dd is a choco-holic. I believe you can request it either way.

I don't know if this is the place to post this question, but someone mentioned it in a thread here, so I am. Someone said to contact fairy_tale_bride about deliveries to the rooms at the resort. How would I do that, and is that still right?

We've ordered gift baskets twice now from Lindsey (fairy_tale_bride). The most recent was Feb. 08 for dd's 12th birthday. Here is the gift basket we got at Coral Reef, ordered from Lindsey.

DSCI0174.jpg

It contained a real tiara, a princess beach towel, a personalized autograph book (with lots of character signatures and a personalized b-day message in front) and it came with an Ariel balloon and in the most adorable white, wicker Mickey-head shaped basket. I think it was around $130 total with tax & delivery. They can deliver to a restaurant or your resort.

Here is the gift basket we ordered for our oldest dd's birthday at WCC in April of 2007.

DSCI0504-1.jpg

It contained a POTC bank (so cute - it says "Dead Men Tell No Tales" when you put money in it), an Orlando Bloom beach towel (she threw in an extra one free for our other dd) and a plush Eeyore with balloons in a treasure basket. I think this one was around $110 (in April 2007).

Lindsey works for Disney Floral. Both times I ordered gift baskets, I just sent her a PM from here and eventually we'd talk on the phone once we were ready to place the order.

She has GREAT ideas and is so wonderful to work with!

Okay so I am going to order 2 mini castle cakes for my twin daughters birthday dinner at 1900 Park Faire.....my question is....I need to let the hostess know when we check in? Or they take my ADR # and deliver it at the end of our meal? Can anyone who's had a birthday cake at 1900 Park Faire let me know how they bring it over? Do they sing or do they just bring it?

Thanks!!

Hi, we had a cake at 1900 Park Faire in January for my DD's b-day and her two cousins. I ordered it ahead of time. WHen we checked in I mentioned it and they said that, yes it was there on the ressie. It was brought out after our main meal was complete and we were still grazing a bit from the dessert buffet. Yes, the hostess sang Happy Birthday to the girls, along with those of us at the table. Unfortunately there were none of the characters close by to sing along, but the girls still got plenty of attention!! My DD offered some cake to Cinderella! They did light the cake candles. The girls got to take home the souvenir place mats, which are really nice and they also got birthday crowns.

If your girls love Cinderella and the Prince here is a little tip for you. WHen they start to play the ballroom music and announce that Cindy and the Prince will now dance get your girls to the centre of the room pronto! Cindy and the Prince will randomly choose a child or two to dance with. My DD danced with Cindy and it was the highlight of the trip!

Enjoy!

I ordered the cake for my friends daughter for next week. I called in room dining at the Yacht Club because we will be staying there. They are delivering it to Yachtsman's Steakhouse on the 28th so I will post pictures next week. They were very nice and called over to the bakery to confirm they could do it while I waited on hold. They only gave me the option of white, chocolate or marble cake with a few different fillings. I got a 10 inch marble cake with custard and strawberries. I asked for pink fondant, roses and hearts and a white chocolate Minnie Mouse. They said $85 but no DDE discount (I had them take down my number just in case.) They said it would be added to the YSH bill-I hope they can separate it out so I can pay for it.

Here it is- they did a great job! Everyone in the Yachtsman's SH was ohhhing and ahhaing:) With DDE it came to $75.

OK, I absolutely LOVE this cake!!! I want the exact same thing for my DD's 9th b-day when we go in November. Can you give a detailed description of it?? It's so pretty! Thanks. :goodvibes

thanks guys...once I figure out how I will PM her and ask about some info. I also called animal kingdom lodge to find out about having a cake delivered to our room. I think I'm going to get the zebra cake to go with the theme, and people seem to like the cake. Has anyone not liked it whose had it? I'm so excited to make our time at disney magical for my own personal GI Joe....I think he needs some time to unwind. He just hurt his back again today, and I hope he will be ok to go when the time comes. I know he'll be miserable if he has to miss it.

:offtopic: I hope that this is allowed...but I would also like to get in touch with fairy_tale_bride for a gift basket delivered to a restaurant.

Thank you to whomever can help me.

Sorry if this has been asked before...
Does anyone know if Saratoga Springs has a bakery that I can order a cake from and have it delivered to our room?
Thanks

We got this at CRT at breakfast. I ordered it by calling the cake hotline. I think it was like $13. Worth every penny!!!!

It was a 10 inch marble cake with custard and strawberry filling (very moist and tasty.) I asked for pink fondant (rolled sugar icing) pink hearts, roses and a white chocolate Minnie Mouse. They did the design. The other posters Minnie cake was my inspiration!

I know they have Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald and Mickey/Minnie wedding topper. Not sure about any others. We now know the Grand and Yacht/Beach bakeries are awesome. Probably any of the restaurants at those hotels would be best for a highly custom cake.
