NOT Including Disney, Where Have You Vacationed This Summer?

Nowhere so far - we cancelled our vacation for the summer due to Delta.

We currently have a couple of trips planned, though. We were supposed to go to Hawaii in December (I had a conference there) but suspect that one will be cancelled bc Hawaii has asked visitors not to come. We have a hotel booked in Toronto for Thanksgiving, but not sure about that one either - currently the borders with Canada are open, but I wonder if they'll close them again bc of the disparity in US vs. Canada vaccination rates.

We also have a trip to Anchorage booked for February (maybe it's happening? I'm hoping it'll be safe) and an extended family river cruise in Europe booked for April. That one I am guessing will not happen, but we didn't pay for it and my FIL bought really good trip insurance so it won't be a big financial loss.

You might be surprised with your river cruise. Our Danube cruise for this fall is still on. None of the three countries we are going to made any changes to their entry requirements and the cruise line has a lot of safety procedures in place.

I definitely thought ours would be postponed again but not yet.

Went to Bend, Or and saw the Last Blockbuster. I worked at a Blockbuster in California nearly 20 years ago, so it was a nice pilgrimage. I might have spent close to $100 in souvenirs. Oh and we did some fun museums and stuff around the area too.

We drove to Colorado which we can do in one day. Hiking and sightseeing in Rocky Mountain National Park was so relaxing and a great change of scenery. So excited that we saw moose in the wild.

Neat! We just watched a documentary on that. :goodvibes

I was there a few weeks ago. We stayed in Fenwick 20 miles south but went to Rehoboth three times during the 17 days.

When I worked, two different co-workers always stayed at Fenwick. They used to tell me if I ever wanted to go to Ocean City, stay here.

I have always wanted to visit one of the DE beaches while my kids were growing up. Just never did for whatever reason.

This was the perfect opportunity. I got to see my friend who bought a home near there (Milsboro). They still work here but will retire then in a few years. They go back and forth. My daughter and SIL were on their one week vacation in the in-law's beach home (she moved a little north DE when she got married).

It was very nice. Will definitely be back.

We did Las Vegas, Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, Lower Antelope Canyon and Flagstaff Arizona in mid August. Zion was crowded and masks were required on the buses and we wore them on the a couple of the trails that were more crowded. Vegas was very crowded and we wore masks in the Casinos. We flew from the east coast out and felt pretty safe.

Our Disney trip was actually a one day add on to our real purpose for going to FL which was visiting family. Besides that we went down to visit the Columbus Zoo and stayed with a friend in Western NY for a long weekend. I have at least one work trip but that is it for this year. We are scheduled for a full Disney trip in January but that is all the 2022 planning so far.

We haven't vacationed this summer nor last. We just took a few day trips and had some staycation time.

Hopefully we'll be able to go to Key West, some of the other Keys, and Miami in November, which we cancelled in April 2020.

I have been to the beach a few times. I try to stay away from the heavily developed and busy beaches and go where it’s quieter. I also stay away over holiday weekends. I use the beach trips to relax. My busy vacations are at Disney.

Pigeon Forge, Dollywood and Great Smoky Mountain NP with one son and two grandsons.

We live in a seashore resort, and the whole family visited us for a week in June.

I went on two cruises this summer. In June I took my first cruise with Royal Caribbean (usually cruise with Carnival). I flew to Nassau to board the Adventure of the Seas. We went to their private island PERFECT DAY at COCO CAY twice, Freeport and Cozumel. The cruise was AMAZING. I enjoyed it so much that I booked the same cruise for the end of August.

In between cruises I went to Vegas for a long weekend.

Went to Niagara Falls (USA side) in early June. We went midweek while the schools in the north were still in or just getting out and it wasn’t crowded. Not sure if the attractions were limiting or not but we had no issues. Only thing was the restaurants had long waits and shorter hours. But that’s the norm everywhere right now.

Outer banks end of July. We don’t usually go in summer and so there were many more people there than usual. Locals said it’s always crowded in summer but seemed like there were more people but much more crowded in the off-season than usual.

Taking our first trip in many years to ocean city boardwalk in October. This will be our first time there in probably 30 years. Just was looking for a cloae by beach trip with a boardwalk for something different (always to outer banks) so we’ll see how that goes.
