Nick, Marie, The Diva's & Me!! Finally Finished 10-20-13!!

We decided to take a ride on the Red Trolley up Buena Vista Street.

We got off near the entrance and then walked thru the stores & did a little shopping. Take a look at these goodies in Trolley Treats!!!

Nick got a couple pics of the Starbucks since he works for them in Oregon!

I love the last sets of photos that you posted today! What fun! For some reason, all of a sudden I have a strong urge to spend time in A Bug's Land - I never get tired of that area because the little hidden gems and details are fantastic (just like they are in Toon Town and Cars Land), but I've noticed that I don't spend a lot of time in that land on every trip. I will usually skip it for a trip or two and then spend a lot of time there the next trip. I need to visit A Bug's Land more regularly.

I also particularly like the few shots around Goofy's Sky School because I have never looked in that specific spot. So those are new to me. I like seeing things in people's trip reports that I have never noticed before, because it's an endless discovery!

Likewise, I enjoyed the photos from inside the trolley on Buena Vista Street...because I haven't taken the time to ride the trolley yet and have only seen it from the outside.

But you know which photos are my favorites from the last few posts? The Toy Story Midway Mania pictures that you got near the end of the ride when your vehicle stopped!:cool1: I love those! To me, those photos are pretty rare. Maybe in the 5-year history of TSMM there have been other people who have gotten pictures inside the ride - I'm sure there have been, somewhere. But, as I'm sure you will notice, we rarely (if ever) see any photos from inside TSMM on this board because it is such a go-go-go, jerky type of ride and it is almost impossible to get anything while moving around in those vehicles.

So I applaud you for being able to use your "paused" moment near the end of the ride to get a few shots!:thumbsup2 I feel like I am just seeing the details of the inside of the ride for the first time because I've never been able to look at anything as I was whipping around corner after corner!

I love BugsLand......yet another jewel in the Disney crown for details!!

When we walked out of BugsLand, the trolley was just sitting there empty.....so we asked if we could ride (thinking maybe it was sitting there for one of their many shows in it)....... we were able to ride!!

I tried to get some pics of the actual game.....but they came out blurry.....darned ol' 3D or 4D or whatever D it is.

Have you ever noticed that sometimes the vehicles in TSMM seem to be zipping along at a slightly faster speed, but that it may not be as fast on your next ride? My friends and I have commented on that in the past, where sometimes it seems like the ride is not too jerky and other times it literally catches us off guard when we whip around the corners because we're moving faster than we expected. I get the feeling that the ride operators speed it up a bit when they are trying to move people through the queue if it's a really long line, but they don't always do it.

Another thing I've wondered is how TSMM would work with a possible holiday overlay. Shortly after TSMM opened in 2008 there was some report (I can't recall the source) that said TSMM was already set up in some ways for future Halloween and Christmas overlays, and that it would be easy to put the overlays on it without too much trouble. Supposedly there was already Halloween and holiday-related dialogue recorded for/by Mr. Potato Head even before the ride opened.

While it would be no problem at all for Mr. Potato Head to entertain guests with Christmas songs or spooky, Halloween-ish banter as they moved through the line, I'm not sure that an overlay of any kind inside the ride would work unless they slowed the vehicles way down! Otherwise, how could we see anything? I love me some holiday overlays, but on HMH and IAWSH we can actually see the details and enjoy them. In TSMM I can't imagine that we'd be able to see very much because of the pace.

Maybe that's why the TSMM overlays have not happened yet? Maybe Disney can't find a logical way to pull off an overlay inside the ride? I suppose they could switch out all the games to holiday-themed games and that would be one way to do it, but they couldn't really add too many holiday decorations inside the ride unless they planned to slow it down??:confused3

I have noticed that sometimes you really whip around the corners.......I wonder if it has to do with the ride functioning -vs- having off & on issues. This particular ride was very broken up.....I start losing interest in the actual ride when that happens....that's why the camera came out.

A holiday overlay would be interesting.......I think Mr Potato head would work and then the games could be holiday themed......as for decorations "IN" the ride....not sure it would be worth it. They could put up a tree in the exit when you see the playset before coming down the stairs.

Awesome awesome awesome! Sorry I've been away for awhile. I've been busy with packing for our move, buying our new cars, and working a lot more. I love the bugs land pics. Question, did you happen to see if the Heimlich the caterpillar statue was still there? I took a picture in front of it at 360lbs 2.5yrs ago and would like to take a picture in front of it at 230lbs. Going 5 days I'm gonna have try the trolley. Get the full DCA experience. I notice you take a lot pics of that snack place, have you ever indulged? If so, which was your favorite?

You know......I don't recall if that statue is still there or not. YAY for the weight loss!!!!!! CONGRATS!!

The trolley was a nice relaxing way to go up Buena Vista Street.

I didn't try any of the treats......but they sure do look delicious!!

Love the update!!

Thank You Kaitlin!!

We headed to Soarin' after drooling over the goodies in Trolley Treats.

After hang gliding over California, we went back to CarsLand to use our FP for Radiator Springs Racers. When we got off, we used an "open" FP I received on our December trip (when RSR went down and we were at the front of the line & after waiting for an hour for it to come back up.....and it didn't.....we received 2 of these "open" passes to use on any DCA ride and no expiration).

It was fun riding two times in a row.....here are our on ride pics!

As you can tell.....we decided to pose for these 2 rides.......lol

As we were exiting the ride, we ran into Ally. Ally is a friend of my son Derek. Ally spent time with our family in December on our trip down there. She worked with Derek at WDW on the College Program.....so it was fun running into her during this trip. Like Derek.....she's not a fan of having her picture taken........lol

We walked towards the exit into the GCH so Marie could head back to our hotel to nap......Nick & I decided to ride Grizzly River Run. After getting sufficiently wet.....we walked back down to Clarabelle's Ice Cream to get a snack. Nick had the Mocha Sundae & I had the Chocolate Chip Mint Sundae. WAY too much for one person to eat.......

Nick & I went back to our hotel to get out of our wet clothes and also catch a quick nap.

After a nice rest, we got up and ready for our dinner at Carthay Circle. Here are a couple pics from the lobby.

Our Carthay Circle experience continues with more pictures from the lobby.

While you wait to be seated, you stay downstairs in the lobby or lounge area and then the host/hostess will come find you when it's time to head upstairs to the dining area. We were excited to head upstairs, but ended up walking thru the dining room and being taken outside to the patio seating. I was disappointed......... Here's the menu.

Looking out from my seat.

A close up of the menus.

They start you out with a basket of bread.

Marie & I both ordered a cocktail. I had the Bloody Mary and Marie had the Hemingway Daiquiri.

Marie said her's was good......mine was actually too spicy.....it burned my throat.......

Ready for some food porn?? We started with the Pacific Ono Ceviche and Carthay Signature Biscuits.......DELICIOUS!!!!

Marie & I both had the Tiger Prawns and Nick had the Grilled Quail.

We even indulged in some dessert. (if you do the dinner for the World of Color FP's...you have to order an entree plus either a dessert or an appetizer).

The Tiramisu Cheesecake and the Warm Pear Pie.

Some more of the decor in the restaurant as we were making our way out.

CARTHAY CIRCLE: The meal was pretty good and the service was great. Our meal total was $173.53 for the 3 of us. This was with the Premium AP, tax and tip.

After our dinner, we had a little time before we needed to head towards World of Color. We went and checked out the Animation Academy.

The Beast's Library.

We did the "Which character are you most like"......I was like Mulan:

Marie was like Mrs Incredible:

Nick was like Jack Skellington......I guess we didn't get a picture of that.

Marie decided to do it again, but this time answering differently.....she got Ursula!

The rose........

Awwww........perfect for the engaged couple!!

We headed down towards the water and checked into the Carthay Circle reserved area for the World of Color show. We opted to do the 2nd show so it would be less crowded and it was. While we were waiting, I was having back pain, so I asked the CM if I could sit on one of the benches in the wheelchair reserved area until they needed the seat and she said yes. As the time got nearer.....only one other couple had joined the seating area, so the CM came over and said I could just stay there for the show. I told her that I had Nick & Marie with me and she let them join me!!

Here are a few of the pictures we got of the show.

After the show, we took our tired bodies back to the hotel ending Day 4!!

DH and I took our picture by the same "happily ever after" wall on our last trip!

Maybe you could suggest to Nick and Marie to take another photo like that if they go back (or another favorite place). I remember you regretting not having a special repeated photo when I mentioned mine in my TR.

I love the Animation Academy, such an under-appreciated fun place!
