New Year, New Experiences! A January 2016 TR - I’m here at WDW! 3/25

@pkondz OT: So glad you're here because I need to know something. Have you ever looked at the back of a pack of baseball cards?!? And why do you have to answer a math question to win something?!

FullSizeRender.jpg

Before you introduced it to him, he never would have looked twice at it on a menu, now he looks for it everywhere we go!

:lmao: Sorry. He was so into it on that trip I just thought he was all into it at home. So when the 50th party came about I tried to have drinks for everyone I knew liked them. I did specifically design that one for him. :lmao:

:faint:I'm just pissed I didn't think of that!

Which? Eating the fat with the lean parts or saving it to make a French Dip?

Just know, if he ever goes streaking due to too many Manhattan's, i'm totally blaming you ::yes:::laughing:

Which? Eating the fat with the lean parts or saving it to make a French Dip?

Ev-ery-thing.

It's a requirement in Canada that you answer a skill testing question to win anything... I have no idea why but it's true about every giveaway/contest

DH was reading it to me last night and I started laughing and said I would ask someone here on the DIS that could probably tell me. That is so crazy!

DS’s face is so content like he plays with Simba, Timon and Pumbaa on the daily

Well, sure. Who doesn't?

DM decided not to go to dinner :confused3 She said she wasn’t feeling well, but I’m wondering if the anxiousness got to her.

Aw, that's a shame.

:rolleyes1

Bonus date night! :woohoo::jumping1:

We were officially kid free!

party::cool1::banana:

We were able to check out the lobby without telling someone to keep their hands to themselves. Can never take mom anywhere! JK

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

While we were drinking, DH decided to check us in early as I was starving! Don’t mess with a preggo and her food.

Truth. He's a smart man. Or you just badgered him a lot.

And of course I finished it and there’s always room for dessert

That's a standard rule on vacation. The steaks look amazing, btw. I'm so glad we ate there last time.

We still had some freedom so DH went off to catch the last of the Packers game

You had a date night and he left you to go watch football?? I don't see this ending well.

IMG_4109.jpg

That's awesome! :rotfl:

I found a Star Wars luggage tag in Target that said "These Aren't The Bags You're Looking For." I'm totally grabbing that one of these days.

Alas, it was time to get the kid.

I think Julie and I say this at least once a day.
Getting home was atrocious. Took an hour and 15 minutes to get back :scared1:

:faint:

DH being the kind man that he is, offered to do some laundry downstairs and I helped out.

There it is. He was feeling guilty over the football thing.

I can tell you this, from what I know (only the past year) the more annoying to pkondz the better! :lmao:

::yes:: Keep pestering him! He won't mind a bit!

The idea was to have a nice adult-only meal at the Yachtsman, just the three of us. DM was extremely anxious/nervous about leaving DS somewhere where he’s never been and suggested staying back with him. But we really wanted him to have some interaction with other kids and play games and do activities and not just be stuck in the room for 4+ hours. DM decided not to go to dinner :confused3 She said she wasn’t feeling well, but I’m wondering if the anxiousness got to her. I swore up and down that he’d be fine but she wasn’t having it, so I wasn’t going to push her if she was legitimately not feeling well.
Well, I guess at least that means you and your DH had some adult time alone. I'm just glad that you still went ahead and took him to the kid's club instead of her keeping him in the room.

I'm kind of surprised she didn't have a miraculous recovery as he was walking out the door. :rotfl2:

We were able to check out the lobby without telling someone to keep their hands to themselves. Can never take mom anywhere! JK
:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

We headed back to the Yacht Club and decided to check out the Crew’s Cup Lounge for cocktails and ‘mock’tails :sad1:
I really liked that lounge.

And of course I finished it and there’s always room for dessert
::yes::

I had overheard DM earlier on in the trip about needing a luggage tag, so I went into the gift shop and searched for some. I really wanted to get her this one cause it sums her up perfectly
:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

Looks like a nice evening. I'm glad you had a chance to go out for a nice adults only dinner. Even better yet, looks like your DS had a good time and your mom was "feeling better."

@pkondz OT: So glad you're here because I need to know something. Have you ever looked at the back of a pack of baseball cards?!? And why do you have to answer a math question to win something?!

View attachment 188534
That is... odd...

I'm not sure what's funnier, the fact that a Canadian would have to answer a basic math question to qualify for something or the fact that you felt the need to sit around reading the fine print on the back of a pack of baseball cards.

Well, sure. Who doesn't?

Guess I don't :sad2:

Aw, that's a shame.

:rolleyes1

Bonus date night! :woohoo::jumping1:

That's what I thought, but dare didn't say it outloud :teeth:

And we're blessed to be getting it again this weekend...FOR A WHOLE NIGHT! :faint: I'm beside myself.

She's been known not to read the signs that say, "Don't Touch."

Truth. He's a smart man. Or you just badgered him a lot.

:rolleyes1

That's a standard rule on vacation. The steaks look amazing, btw. I'm so glad we ate there last time.

I remember you going and seeing your pics on FB! I got super excited to be dining there just under a month later :hyper:

You had a date night and he left you to go watch football?? I don't see this ending well.

'Absence makes the heart grow fonder'.....or some crap like that:lmao:

That's awesome! :rotfl:

I found a Star Wars luggage tag in Target that said "These Aren't The Bags You're Looking For." I'm totally grabbing that one of these days.

No. Now THAT is awesome!

Is it weird that I waved my hand out when I read that?

I think Julie and I say this at least once a day.

I imagine this is in your top 3 sayings.

Too. Long.

There it is. He was feeling guilty over the football thing.

Perhaps. But it also gave him alone time with his Clash of Clans :scratchin

::yes:: Keep pestering him! He won't mind a bit!

If you say so

Dumb-and-Dumber.jpg

Well, I guess at least that means you and your DH had some adult time alone. I'm just glad that you still went ahead and took him to the kid's club instead of her keeping him in the room.

I'm kind of surprised she didn't have a miraculous recovery as he was walking out the door. :rotfl2:

There was no way we were going to keep him in there watching TV doing nothing when he could be running around with other kids.

And right?!

Like I told Mark, she doesn't read signs very well :lmao:

I really liked that lounge.

Yes! This was the same lounge where we ended our drinking around the World and we totally skipped out on the Yachtsman in 2010 cause I was *done*! Beyond done. Like, how did we get back to the resort done:scratchin:laughing:

Glad you understand. Knew you were my friend for a reason.

:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

Looks like a nice evening. I'm glad you had a chance to go out for a nice adults only dinner. Even better yet, looks like your DS had a good time and your mom was "feeling better."

It was such a fun night, even with the long travel time to and from there!

That is... odd...

I'm not sure what's funnier, the fact that a Canadian would have to answer a basic math question to qualify for something or the fact that you felt the need to sit around reading the fine print on the back of a pack of baseball cards.

It's kinda weird right?

Also, DH was that bored that he read the back of the pack and apparently, I was that bored to listen:lmao:

Are you telling me that the woman who is holding on to Cal on the bus was anxious about leaving him at the kids club???? I find that very hard to believe :-)

We were greeted by a very enthusiastic CM at the desk/check-in table who looked very happy to be seeing us. He introduced himself to Cal and us, got all the paperwork signed, squared away the meal and snack options (there were several including pasta, pizza, chicken nuggets along with either cookies or crackers with juice or chocolate milk for their snack), got Cal his name tag and took us on a tour of the place. There was a room FILLED TO THE BRIM with different toys, a bathroom and a main room that had video games, computers and tables for their meals and group activities
Casey did the one at the Poly two trips back and absolutely loved it. I think she did it on our second to last night there and requested to go back to the next night, but we didn't have time. Plan on letting her do it again on this trip at least once, if not twice. Love her, but love adult time 2!

We were able to check out the lobby without telling someone to keep their hands to themselves. Can never take mom anywhere! JK
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

We had to order the cheese platter here. It’s a must!

Yum!!!!!! I love, love, love a good cheese plate. Jason loaded up on some at Trader Joe's yesterday. It's ok to have cheese for breakfast, right?

I ordered the 16 oz Rib Eye with Blue Cheese Butter with the Potato Gratin

Oh, that blue cheese butter looks and sounds divine. Wonder if they'd let you get that on one of the other steaks???? I have a major issue with fat so its all filet all the time for me.

DH ordered the New York Strip with some shavings of White Alba Truffle and Malt Vinegar Fries, with a glass of MacMurray Pinot Noir

Oh and truffles and malt vinegar fries!!!!! All the things I miss. Think blue cheese butter and truffles on a steak sounds like too much? :confused3

But DH wanted something warm and buzzy to end the night and the waiter recommended a Nutty Irishman, which is hot coffee with Baileys and Frangelico. It smelled so delicious and he finished it right off.
Warm and buzzy. I love that description. Gonna have to steal it

But went with the classic Minnie print underneath it.
Why oh why didn't you get her this. Only thing that would have made it more perfect is if Minnie was drinking while she was shopping :drinking1

DH being the kind man that he is, offered to do some laundry downstairs and I helped out. Despite not having our own washer and dryers in the room, the laundry room was very convenient and there was only one person there the rest of the trip. And whoa, high-tech machines!
Good to know. We're leaving for the world on Wednesday and are staying for 10 days. I'll pack tomorrow, but I'm a bit concerned about us having enough clothes (and room to pack it all) so laundry may be in order

mmmmmm that steak looks wonderful! I'm glad you and DH had some alone time. Just out of curiosity, what did DM do all night??

Holy cow! I wonder if all the resorts have that laundry app? They are definitely making it so you don't have to miss a single minute of fun doing boring stuff like laundry.

Not gonna lie, I checked out your TR about a week ago...saw that you were about to reach 200 pages and was like

gi5phy-gif.188525

Yeah, but 180 pages are just me posting about the weather.

Uh, popular much?! I'm not even sure I'm qualified enough to be subbed to your TR:eek:

See above.
Plus, I suspect that half or more of those pages is me.
So I'm 50% (at least!) less popular than you think.

Soooo.....when you start your next TR, i'm going to have to jump on board quick-fast. I'm assuming you will be doing one yes??? ::yes::

I think so... Probably...

Let's just be honest. I'm straight up annoying, but people seem to enjoy it!

Who doesn't like annoying??

Wait...

I can tell you this, from what I know (only the past year) the more annoying to pkondz the better! :lmao:

Oh boy. I'm in for it now..... then again, what else is new?

He has pretty much agreed to a TR, right? @pkondz look at all the ladies who are badgering you?????

 Nothing like a good ego stroking.

:rotfl:I figured that!

Hey!

Was he thinking of not doing one?!

He was. He's pretty tired after writing for what feels like four straight years.

@pkondz OT: So glad you're here because I need to know something. Have you ever looked at the back of a pack of baseball cards?!? And why do you have to answer a math question to win something?!

@TinkLoverSam has pretty well answered this, but...

In Canada, legally, the only games of chance that can be played are by Provincial lottery, licensed casinos and charities. Baseball cards are none of those, so how can they giveaway prizes? There's an exception to the rule. You can offer prizes for a game of skill (or mixed skill and chance.) That's why you have the "skill testing question". Mostly it's a formality and sometimes not even that. If you win a small prize, they might not even ask you to answer the "skill testing question". I've won a couple of small prizes from Radio stations and have never been asked to answer any questions. They just hand me my prize (I never did use that shampoo.... huh.) And yet... it can't be a complete no brainer question. 1 + 1 isn't allowed. The courts ruled that the question must have at least three parts, like 3 x 4 + 5.

::yes:: Keep pestering him! He won't mind a bit!

HEY!!!

Well.... yeah...

If you say so

dumb-and-dumber-jpg.188610

oooh.... love that movie.
If that's how you intend to pester me, then by all means, post the entire movie.

Are you telling me that the woman who is holding on to Cal on the bus was anxious about leaving him at the kids club???? I find that very hard to believe :-)

:rotfl2:Didn't even notice that! Seriously, perfect way to show how anxious she is. I'm sure there's got to be other photos like this:rolleyes:

Casey did the one at the Poly two trips back and absolutely loved it. I think she did it on our second to last night there and requested to go back to the next night, but we didn't have time. Plan on letting her do it again on this trip at least once, if not twice. Love her, but love adult time 2!

YES! He's definitely going again next time we're there (hopefully Jan 2018?? :scared: Uhhhh, so far away.)

It's true and she's a bad influence on DS :lmao:

Yum!!!!!! I love, love, love a good cheese plate. Jason loaded up on some at Trader Joe's yesterday. It's ok to have cheese for breakfast, right?

It's a requirement to have dairy at breakfast and last I checked, there's dairy in cheese so go for it!

Oh, that blue cheese butter looks and sounds divine. Wonder if they'd let you get that on one of the other steaks???? I have a major issue with fat so its all filet all the time for me.

That's two people (girls!) that don't do fat on steaks. Is it more from a health aspect that you don't like it or does it freak you out?

For me, got to have it! it brings so much more flavor to the steak. But actually years ago, all I would order is filets as well. Then I tried something fatty and noticed a huge difference in taste between the two.

Oh and truffles and malt vinegar fries!!!!! All the things I miss. Think blue cheese butter and truffles on a steak sounds like too much? :confused3

Warm and buzzy. I love that description. Gonna have to steal it

Steal it! I'm taking your 'carbtastic'! ::yes::

Why oh why didn't you get her this. Only thing that would have made it more perfect is if Minnie was drinking while she was shopping :drinking1

:rotfl:Yes!

Good to know. We're leaving for the world on Wednesday and are staying for 10 days. I'll pack tomorrow, but I'm a bit concerned about us having enough clothes (and room to pack it all) so laundry may be in order

Seriously?? You've got to be up to like 4 trips a year yes???

mmmmmm that steak looks wonderful! I'm glad you and DH had some alone time. Just out of curiosity, what did DM do all night??

I know she took a shower, watched TV (her and DH fight over the channels so i'm sure she loved having it all to herself :rotfl:) and snacked on some leftovers and sweets. Guess it wasn't too bad of a night for her now looking back:scratchin

Holy cow! I wonder if all the resorts have that laundry app? They are definitely making it so you don't have to miss a single minute of fun doing boring stuff like laundry.

I'm not sure! If not, i'm sure they're adopting it soon to all resorts, totally helpful!

It's a requirement to have dairy at breakfast and last I checked, there's dairy in cheese so go for it!

Uh oh I don't have any dairy in my Chicken Fried Rice! Which is what I'm having for breakfast!

My mom trained me not to like the fat on the steak. But then I saw Fran saving it for little bites with each piece of leaner meat, and tried it once. I have never gone back and I cook prime rib and steaks, so that they get that charry fat on the edges when I'm at home.

Shouldn't you be on the road soon? :confused3

Sounds fun - and a lot like Aunty's at Aulani, so I think Cal will feel right at home there.

I did sneak a couple pictures before we left – wasn’t sure if it was allowed or not
Probably not, but good job! :thumbsup2 ;)

We had to order the cheese platter here. It’s a must!
I ordered the 16 oz Rib Eye with Blue Cheese Butter with the Potato Gratin
Your dinner looks delicious! I've never made it to Yachtsman, but we'll have to get there someday!

My view while waiting for dessert
Ha, I've seen a very similar view to this myself. :rotfl:

But DH wanted something warm and buzzy to end the night and the waiter recommended a Nutty Irishman, which is hot coffee with Baileys and Frangelico. It smelled so delicious and he finished it right off.
I'm not a coffee drinker, but I'm sure Dug would love this. He and your DH would get along well, looking at their phones while drinking these. :rotfl2:

It was such a relaxing place with nice, soothing music in the background, I could have easily taken a nap in here or read a book.
Interestingly, the first thing I thought when I saw that picture was, "There's where I took a nap!" (pre-kid days) That red couch in the back is nice!

Wow, this is great! I saw some mention of laundryview somewhere recently, but didn't realize it was an official Disney thing. Very cool! Wish they'd had that on the Dream too!

Holy mackerel, the pics from your Yachtsman dinner are making my stomach rumble. It all looks so delicious!!

I'm glad to hear Cal enjoyed the kids club so much. I wish I would have taken the plunge and put Paxton in one for an evening so DH and I could go have some fun. I've missed the window for a few more years now since Delilah will have to be potty trained before we can put them both in!

Ooh i'll head on over!

Glad you joined in!! It's been fun to get to know you a bit better in other places too. :)

After dealing with a disgruntled DH about the cooking utensil purchase

And that, my friend, is exactly why mine is not invited to the majority of my trips to Disney.

Don’t mess with a preggo and her food.

This is a truism!!!

OH my! Yes, please!!!

Dessert? Always.

recommended a Nutty Irishman, which is hot coffee with Baileys and Frangelico

You do realized 'N' is one of my Challenge drinks. Hmmm....

Uber sounds like a good idea next time!

This is definitely in my toolbox for my trip. Such a great thing!

Thank you for posting this! This is so helpful as we'll have to do laundry at least once during our trip.

Yooooooooooo! I am all caught up! As I have said to Katie, Lu, and lots of other people...I have not been DIS'ing much the last month!
Life got busy! But I am back to my regularly scheduled DIS-ing...because I know the important things in life ::yes::

Anyway...I love seeing all these pics of you preggo, especially since the baby is already like...4 months now? I think? You must be loving the flashbacks! You know...the flashbacks of not being able to drink or ride the big rides ;) Poo on that nonsense! :rotfl:
Looking forward to seeing the post with the gender reveal!

That dinner at Yachtsman looks soooooooooooo good...I have never eaten there!
It's definitely on my "list" if I can ever get past the sticker shock of how pricey it is :rotfl2:

I have been thinking about using the Sandcastle Club one night on our upcoming trip - it would be nice to have a solo night in the parks and $55 ain't too shabby!
It seems really fun! I remember going to the Neverland Club (I think it's Lilo's playhouse now) at the Poly when I was a kid and it was awesome. I am sure all their babysitting services are like that! Definitely considering it now that I know Calvin liked it :scratchin

Loving seeing all the pics with the Christmas decorations...getting me SUPER pumped for our Christmas trip! :santa:

Now that I am all caught up I am looking forward to reading more! :goodvibes

All caught up. I love the way you write and with the pics thrown in. Can't wait to read some more.

Sounds fun - and a lot like Aunty's at Aulani, so I think Cal will feel right at home there.

This is great to know!

Probably not, but good job! :thumbsup2 ;)

:laughing:Figured, did my best trying to not get clear faces of the other kids while trying to get a good shot of mine...not sure if it worked very well:laughing:

Your dinner looks delicious! I've never made it to Yachtsman, but we'll have to get there someday!

This is our number one signature restaurant, hands down. For now :scratchin It seems to always change, but it has been in the first spot for three years!

Ha, I've seen a very similar view to this myself. :rotfl:

Yep, i'm sure you have :lmao:

I'm not a coffee drinker, but I'm sure Dug would love this. He and your DH would get along well, looking at their phones while drinking these. :rotfl2:

I'm a huge coffee drinker, but always forget that you can add extra fun to it :hyper:

Interestingly, the first thing I thought when I saw that picture was, "There's where I took a nap!" (pre-kid days) That red couch in the back is nice!

Aw yes. I remember Disney trips without kids...memories :cloud9:

Wow, this is great! I saw some mention of laundryview somewhere recently, but didn't realize it was an official Disney thing. Very cool! Wish they'd had that on the Dream too!

Yes! Definitely on the ships!

Glad you joined in!! It's been fun to get to know you a bit better in other places too. :)

Yachtsman is our fav place! :worship:

Delilah will be there before you know it and you and hubby will get to enjoy a night out just the two of you!

And that, my friend, is exactly why mine is not invited to the majority of my trips to Disney.

Teach me your ways.

This is a truism!!!

:worship:

OH my! Yes, please!!!

Cheese = Love of my life

Dessert? Always.

And usually there's a second round of dessert...stay tuned for that!

You do realized 'N' is one of my Challenge drinks. Hmmm....

Ooooooh :scratchin Better write that down as an option. I'm trying to think of other 'N' drinks...

This is definitely in my toolbox for my trip. Such a great thing!

Still haven't done Uber yet, but look forward to using it one day soon!

Thank you for posting this! This is so helpful as we'll have to do laundry at least once during our trip.

It was definitely helpful!

YAAAAAY!!!!! :cool1::banana: Glad to see you back! But it feels like it hasn't been too long since we're friends on pretty much every social media platform so I know exactly what you're up to :rotfl2: And I know you're getting ready to go back to the World in the next few months and i'm so envious!

That gender reveal will be coming up shortly...I hope:blush: I want this TR to be done before we go to Aulani :hyper:

Yachtsman is seriously worth the price. Fo' reals. Service, food, atmosphere - just amazing!

And seriously, $55 (from 4:30-midnight!) is a great deal considering it includes snacks, dinner and entertainment!

All caught up. I love the way you write and with the pics thrown in. Can't wait to read some more.

Aw thank you! More coming atcha now!
