Mickey's Halloween Party and Halloween Time Superthread 2018!!

For nine people it does add up fast.
If you don't do it every day, you might consider $90 for busy days or days with longer hours.
$10 for one to MP each day would get you PhotoPass, which is really worth the $10/day

Geemo

Thanks! I guess we'll play it by ear. I think we will get one at least to get the photo pass. That's a great idea.

Did anyone else notice they posted the wrong picture of the seasonal pizza and just changed it today? The original looked like a taco pizza but the one they posted today fits the discription of the seasonal pizza.

What is the seasonal pizza?

Hope your DD is into sharing treats -- that's how DH and I get to try twice as many things in the parks! Sharing is caring!

They did this at the train station last year before the end of the party. We watched the villains and Mickey, Minnie, and friends dance and sing on the train station "stage" and stairs before waving everyone out. It doesn't happen at the very, very end of the party -- maybe 10-15 minutes before the end?

They did have the "Good Bye" show on the train station last year when I went. Based on my photos, it looks like they came out a little before the end of the party (about 5 minutes or so) and the bulk of the show occurred just as the party ended. I couldn't find any photos from 2016 in my archive, but I did find some from 2015. So maybe they did put the show on hiatus for one year and then brought it back. Anyway, last year the show had villains, Mickey & Friends, and Toy Story characters. It was a cute way to end the evening.

I remember that last year, but it wasn't like the original one with the Evil Stepsisters, etc. The one last year was cute, but the one in years past was so fun when they came out on the carriage with the horses and the spooky music and song/dance.

I just bought our tickets two days ago! We are going on my 50th birthday! I said I must turn 50 at Disneyland in order to cope. It turns out one of party dates is that day! It will just be DH and I with two day park hoppers. We've never been in the fall before because we are both teachers but making this fall a priority! So this will be our first fall trip and first Halloween party. I will keep reading this thread to pick up any tips I may not know about.

I turned 50 at DLR and it was the best experience. So great I'm returning 10 years later for the next big -0 and going to the party also (though not on my birthday)! How magical you get to do a party on your birthday also! Enjoy and happy early birthday!

Regarding some questions on the board about max pass on the party ticket. I was just looking at the order confirmation for my party e tickets and noticed this at the bottom:

Enjoy the Disney MaxPass Feature
Because you added this feature to your ticket, you can use the Disneyland app to select from available FASTPASS experiences once you enter the park, and redeem your selections from your phone. Also, be sure to have our PhotoPass photographers capture your day’s Disneyland memories!

Please check the day’s FASTPASS availability before using your theme park tickets with Disney MaxPass. FASTPASS selections are limited and not guaranteed. Disney PhotoPass service is subject to the Disney PhotoPass terms and conditions. Disney MaxPass is nonrefundable and subject to restrictions and change without notice.

So it suggests that they did add MaxPass to the etickets this year.

I have a question about costumes. My 16 yr old DD wants to go as something on the more scary side. Possibly a zombie Disney princess. We have never gone to a party before and I’m wondering if this would be allowed? We are attending the party the day we arrive and are driving to Disney. I’m not sure if we will be able to check into our hotel early before going. So I don’t think she will be able to do anything elaborate. Ive looked at the rules and wasn’t sure still. Any advice or suggestions for her are appreciated. I’m surprised and happy that she even wants to dress up.

It would depend on how she does her make up - If it's super scary I would say no. She has to think about how you would dress for a little kids halloween party - you don't want to scare anyone. If she wants to dress on the darker side I'd recommend Wednesday Adams or Lidia from Beetlejuice. Also keep in mind if your goal is to ride rides to make sure your costume will be comfortable enough to get on and off rides.

Has anyone got dinning reservations during the Halloween party? Not Blue Bayou but other restaurants. I'm wondering if we can get reservations or if it's 1st come first serve.

Ah, got it. They used to do that whenever the villains were changing throughout the party, not just as the party ended.

Are the Main Street shops open an hour after the party ends like on a normal day after closing?
I can't remember for sure, but I feel like some shops remained open (e.g., Emporium), but not all of them (e.g., Starbucks, Disneyana).

If I remember correctly, the DL TS locations stop taking reservations before the party starts. Carnation Cafe and Cafe Orleans were listed in last year's guide, so that probably means they went to a walk-up only option at some point (Blue Bayou is doing the MHP dining packages, so that one will be taking reservations up through 7:00 pm, I think).

I have a question along those same lines about the dining reservations. I have a 5:00 reservation at carnation café for a party night (6:00 party start), however, we do not plan on attending the party that night. Has anyone without a party ticket stayed past party start time to finish a meal? There's going to be 10 of us (w/ 6 kids), so it wont be a quick meal to say the least and I don't want to feel rushed. Thanks!

They won't throw you out or rush your meal (that being said, Carnation is pretty quick even with a large group), but you will have to exit the park once you've finished your meal. I think the shops on MS may remain open to guests for a bit after the park closes/party starts, but they might not or you might not be allowed in without a wristband.

The lines for the Halloween Characters can be more of a challenge time wise then finding a good spot for the parade.
We've been in line for a favorite only to have the character's time change. Instead of our fav we got the one that came out for the next rotation.
If you aren't at the front of the line for Maleficent and the line moves slow, you run the risk of her leaving and the next one taking her place.

I wish you luck

Geemo
That happened to us in ToonTown. Waited forever for Mickey & Minnie, 2 groups from the front of the line Chip and Dale came out - love C&D but felt like we wasted so much party time on that line!

Scary costumes are allowed up to a point. I don't think I've ever seen anyone escorted out or denied entry because of a "scary" issue. But there is a definite "family friendly" vibe to MHP. Anything that would fit right in at Knott's Scary Farm or HHN at USH would be out of place at MHP. I've seen people dressed more on the really scary side (something that would perhaps be tame at Knott's or USH), who got lots of stares and weird looks at MHP. The high fives and applause go to the guests in the more creative and humorous costumes. If you look at the past Halloween Time/MHP threads here, you'll find photos of guests in costume to give you and your daughter a better idea of what's "normal" at MHP. Then she'll know how scary she can go. The above suggestion about Wednesday is pretty accurate. Some people do really good Haunted Mansion "scary" costumes, e.g. the Ghost Bride.
