Mediterranean Excursions

Hi All

It was our 90 day window for the 18/07 cruise and I managed to book all 5 excursions I wanted and also 4 spa visits, I did not encounter any problems and the whole process only took around 30 minutes :dance3:. For those of you in the UK you can start your booking at 08.00 on the dot. Here are the times of the excusrions booked in case they may be of use.

chocolate museum 13.30 to 17.30
Mt Vesuvius Hike and Pompeii 08.30 to 16.00
Jumping Back Into Eternal Rome 07.45 to 17.45
Lucca Treasure Hunt 08.00 to 14.00
Create your own Perfume 13.15 to 17.45 I

Anyone doing the "Soap & Marseille City" tour? or the Villefranche Perfume making tour? Just wondering if anyone knows anything more about these tours, ie, have been to these places, is it worth it, etc. I'm a soap freak, so I have to ask.

I am not doing the soap tour but i do want to get some soap in marseille. According to Samantha Brown it is very good and inexpensive there. i would assume that they are going to a similar place to where she went on her Marseille episode Marseille Travel guide

My DW and DD are doing the perfume tour.... sounded too good to them....

Dear Funnybunny

Myself and my DD (11) are doing the create your own perfume tour. I don't know much about it but we both thought it sounded great. Imagine having your very own personl fragrance :cloud9:.

:sad1: :guilty: :sad2:
I called Disney and asked if I could book the perfume tour and a Monaco half day tour. They said NO. Although, there would be 30 minutes to spare between excursions, they said it is cutting it too close and so I have to pick one or the other. I want to do the perfume tour but rest of family is going on the Monaco tour. I don't know what to do :confused3

I did decide that I will book the soapmaking excursion in Marseille though:cool1:

I think this was covered somewhere - but I can't find it when I do a search. Which ports do we tender in?
Thanks!

I know it isn't a tour, but apparently it is pretty easy to get to monaco from villefranche.... just a thought.

Hi all ... Just thought I would give an update for all the first timers out there that can't book until the 75 day mark. Mine was last night (boy am I tired today!) Here is what I got:

Gothic Quarter City Walk
Mysterious Palermo
Amalfi Coast Drive and the Ruins of Pompeii
Panoramic Tour of La Maddalena
Ultimate Rome Experience
Florence and Michelangelo
Aix En Provence
Nice and Monaco

I got all my first choices except Barcelona. I really wanted the Chocolate Museum, but it was gone. I'm going to watch for it periodically. Who knows?

I looked into Palo and the only time available was for dinner while in Rome.

Yes, I looked into it a bit. There is a train I can catch in Villefranche to Monaco and then about 25 minutes of walking to get to the Prince's Palace, etc.:cool1:

Thanx to everyone posting on this thread for all the info, tips, pointers, comments, links, etc.! All of it has been very helpful. :thumbsup2

Aloha,

Just talk to my friend who lives in Monaco,
He is going to give a tour of Monaco and Nice. Does anyone know what the tour of the casino entail for $99.00 My friend informed us you have to have so much money to play in the Grand Casino. He says there are other casinos in Monaco that are not as high stakes

Mahalo,

My brother-in-law lived in Monaco, when we were there last you do have to pay to get into Grand ( alot) but I think Lowes and the other one Cafe?? (can't recall name right now), I think are free or at least few little money maybe a few dollars. And its real nice just to walk around the main area in between where the water fountains are by the Grand.

has anyone looked into hiring private guides for any of the ports. if so can you post who you contacted and what they are charging. cindy

Can anyone tell me the best way to transfers from Barcelona airport to Barcelona port? We are planning to fly from San Francisco 8/6 to Paris (CDG) arriving on 8/7. We will stay over night at the Sheraton Paris Airport Hotel and fly out to Barcelona on 8/8. I called DVC this morning to ask them the cost for ground transfers and they quoted me $25 per person each way (family of 4=$200) round trip. They said that arrival flight should be before 1:45pm and that you have to be on the ship before 4pm. I thought the ship does not leave until 9pm???? The departure flight should be no earlier than 10:30am. Any information or recommendation would be appreciated.:)

South SF!!! Welcome... East bay resident here...

We are flying directly into Barcelona a few days before the cruise. From what I gathered the cabs is cheaper than the DCL buses.

THat is strange why you have to be onboard by 4PM I recall seeing some excursions for Barcelona returning latter than 4PM... maybe somebody has a answer for this.

Based on the recomendation by Disney our flight leaves at 1PM. THere was only one other flight that leaves after 11AM. Most other flights leaves before 10 AM and since we will be Barcelona for three days we did not feel like staying an additional day.

We were in Monaco a couple of years ago. I recall that one could go into the front portion of the Grand Casino, even just to look around. But there was a "high roller" area, and there was a small entrance fee.
