Well friends, March is definately coming in like a lion here-expecting more snow tonight and no sign of nicer temps. But alas, our exercise and committment to better health "marches" on.:lmao:

Shamrocks:shamrock:, Easter bunnies and basketball tournaments abound this month -plus there are 31 days to get all that exercise in!!

As always, here is how it goes: Post up how much exercise you are committed to doing this month (and year too if you are so inclined) in whichever increment you like-ie minutes, miles, laps etc. Then post up your progress.When you post up your numbers, please do so in this format: 100/1200 (minutes done/goal). It is really helpful if I don't have to do any math.:teacher: The milestones are as follows:

10% blue
25% green
50% purple
75% orange
90% red
100% silver
Over 100% gold

Remember this is FUN and not meant to stress you out!!! I am upping my goal to 1200 for this month, now that I am back to running daily.

I am going to set my goal at 1550 this month - thanks so much for hosting this, it really keeps me motivated. Even my kids check to see if I am going to make my goal every month!!
 
Thanks so much for hosting the challenge. Maybe this month I'll make my relatively small goals. I am not upping the goal since I haven't meet one yet, and I'll be out of town for over a week this month.

This is my first time with this kind of group so I hope I'm doing it right. I aim for about 60 mins of something each and every day which would be about 1800 mins for March but I'm not going to set my goal too high the first time around!!!

My goal for March will be 1500 mins. Good luck all and lets make it happen!:yay:

I'm going to change how I calculate what counts as "exercise." For the past month or two, I was wearing my heart-rate monitor and only counting exercise that got my heart rate over 105 beats per minute (which is 60% of the theoretical maximum heart beat for my age.) But, as people get more conditioned, their heart becomes more efficient and their heart rate tends to drop. That's what's happening to me -- I'm finding it harder and harder to get my heart rate up to 105 beats per minute while doing exercise that's easy on my joints, such as low-impact aerobics. So, I'm going to start counting any exercise that gets my heart going over 96 beats per minute (55% of the theoretical maximum) as long as the average during that exercise session is still 105 or above.

This past month, I exercised at 96 beats per minute or above for 58 minutes a day, on average. So, I figure that 60 minutes a day of exercise is a good goal.

60 minutes a day gives me a goal for March of 1860 minutes. For now, I'm going to keep my annual goal at 12000 minutes; I'm starting off with 2424 minutes for the year.

Hiya Vern and everyone else! I'm hoping to add some strength training this month to my walking so i'm going to set my goal for 900 minutes this month.

Thanks for hosting again, Vern! Now what to do, what to do. I was going to up it this month, but then didn't make it last. However, I was really close, so maybe...oh heck, I need to just go for it. Let's do 1500....

Thanks Vern for setting this up. We have this weekend and next weekend of Beauty and the Beast so the next week will be crazy but I am in for 750 minutes. During a show I will walk at least a mile between the front of the theater and the dressing rooms to check out how the costumes are.

Count me in! Put me down for 1000 minutes for March. I haven't participated in the monthly exercise challenge for a few months, but I'm ready to start logging my minutes again :thumbsup2
