Marathon Weekend 2024

Full marathon only 42XX (PoT was 1 41 42 for a 10miler) Wonder which corral this will be.

It looks like they placed you in one of the last corrals.

M
4xx - 1:47:35 HM POT
10XX - 1:59 HM POT
11XX - 2:04 HM POT
14XX - 2:11 HM POT
21XX -
24XX -
42XX - 1:41 10 miler POT
47XX -

The cutoff for POT is a 1:35 10 miler and 2:08 HM. I'm guessing that they slotted the 2:11 HM POT runner into Corral C (maybe B), but it looks like they slotted you at the back because your POT was too far away to be acceptable. I don't know this definitively, but this is how I'm reading the above data because there's 3000 bibs between you and the 2:11 HM which I already think is outside the range. You can take your data to runner's relations at the expo and they might be able to help move you to an appropriate corral. But it's entirely possible this may be a case where they won't move you up. In my opinion, you should be in Corral C (a 1:41 10 miler is equivalent in calculation to a 4:45 M using what I believe runDisney uses).

So @Chanty30 given the additional info of the last M only bib number being 7037 and bib 28xx being a 4:30-5:00 estimate, I no longer think you're in one of the last corrals. I'm thinking they placed you in Corral C (estimated finish of 4:30-5:00) which aligns with your POT you submitted.

Probably too much to hope that it might also mean less congestion… from what I’ve seen lately, it just means feeding us all through faster to get the parks emptied sooner.

The HM release has been fairly consistent at 60 min over the last several years despite the drop in attendance. So it's been less dense. But we can never pre-predict this type of behavior with strong confidence when it comes to the next weekend. The M has however gone faster than it used to. It used to be 60 min as well, but the last few years have been in the 30-45 min range. Could be other reasons (like weather) that influenced that decision, but it also remains to be seen whether they'll go back to 60 min.

@DopeyBadger
Marathon only
11XX
POT: 1:31:33 10 miler
Hoping for corral B, probably cutting it close

In my opinion, it's not close. You're solidly in B with the cutoff being very close to 1:35:05.

Anyone have a guess as to what coral a marathon number 35xx would put someone in?

What did you submit as your estimate at registration?

Based on this data collected so far:

M
4xx - 1:47:35 HM POT
10XX - 1:59 HM POT
11XX - 2:04 HM POT
11xx - 1:31:11 10 miler POT
12xx - 1:34:31 10 miler POT
14XX - 2:11 HM POT
21XX -
24XX -
28xx - 4:31-5:00 estimate
35xx -
42XX - 1:41 10 miler POT
47XX -
7037 - Last assigned Marathon only bib number

I can make a reasonable guess you submitted 4:30-5:00 and will be slotted in Corral C.

I should add, I welcome everyone telling me that I'm wrong (or right) when you actually pick your bibs up on Wednesday (or after) because that just helps us all get the prediction a little tighter weekend to weekend and year over year.
Will do! I appreciate the tip earlier. I will give an update of my POT and why it wasn’t accepted/was an error and if they do anything for me at the expo.

Seriously. Every time, and my husband doesn’t understand because I am not usually a cryer. But HEA gets me every.freaking.time. Sometimes I think I’ll make it, and then “I can go the distance” starts up.

Also, tonight was the most synched up I’ve ever seen the fireworks with the music. It. Was. Amazing.

Aaaand we just caught the tail end of the Epcot fireworks on our monorail ride over for our eeh GotG VQ.
We saw Luminous a few weeks ago and it was the first time our son saw fireworks from inside a park. “You’ll Be in My Heart” from Tarzan was one of the first songs and I was like “this is a low blow!!!”

But yeah, the transition from Mufasa’s voice into “I have often dreamed” gets me every time.

Here's the updated data with last bib numbers for comparison:

Just go back and look at what you used for either POT submission or estimated finish time on your registration. If you could also re-post your bib number and what you put as your estimate I'll update the below. Also please mention if you are a club runDisney member that gets a corral boost because you're bib number reflects that.

Goodness. I am right near that last assigned Goofy number. Not sure if it means much, but noting it...

There’s no main road closures for the 5K. Epcot center Drive does not close until 4am on 10K day. As long as you are through there before then you will be fine.

This is the long way around, but avoids Epcot Center Drive.

- Left turn onto Bonnet Creek Parkway
- Right turn onto Buena Vista Drive
- Right turn onto World Drive
- exit right to Epcot

Google maps is really good at routing around road closures.
Thanks!! That is what my DH had figured but its awesome to get validation!!!

I think this may have been addressed, but I need a little help with getting to the 5 and 10K races. We are at OKW. When we ran Dopey two years ago it was a piece of cake, but it seems like road closures might have changed? Best route??

In my experience, Google maps will incorporate the road closures and will give you the best directions on race morning.

To make it MW-related, it gets me SO much more since I started doing race weekendC because rundisney races are the ones that I most feel like I belong. That race weekend atmosphere is powerful stuff.
My DH gave me Dopey as a Christmas gift for 2022 and made this AMAZING power point. Go the Distance was playing when it showed my registration!! Magic!!

The marathon weekend atmosphere is like nothing else. I suppose it’s the length that makes it so special, so much more time for build up and excitement. I can’t wait for all the runners to descend and start wearing race shirts and medals in the parks. We’re almost there! :lovestruc

This morning felt like a race day preview with an alarm at 3a and out the door by 3:30a. Easy, half empty flight down and no issues getting an Uber. Took ~10 minutes. The early hour probably helped. Headed to CBR now then to MK until the room is ready.

Slowly getting my act together. We are checking into Ft Wilderness this afternoon and I’m so excited. It’s so relaxing there.

My shirt that I ordered for the full still hasn’t arrived. It’s just a regular Lululemon tank. I am bummed, but it looks like it should get here in time for Disneyland 👍

Hit the road at 6:30 this morning for the 4th leg in our road trip. We left home (Iowa) 20 Dec to have time to stop at both families (Wisconsin & Illinois) for Christmas. Then we had a fun few days in Asheville but I’m excited to finally make it to Disney this afternoon!
