It's A WONDERful 2015 - Feb Cruise, May WDW grand tour, and France/DLP! NEW 10/25 Nice & End!

Ah... Suspense! Can't wait to hear. You've already done several things I've never done at Disney!

Well I'm sure you've done this lol, it just wasn't in my plans for the day...

:lmao: This made me laugh! I get it, though. Dug and I were just discussing the other day that "relaxing on a beach" is only acceptable (to us) as an activity within an agenda - like "from 2-3pm, we'll enjoy the beach"...but not all day or days on end. :rotfl:

Normally I'd say it would involve wine, but since you were pregnant, I'm baffled. :confused3

Looks like a good breakfast (as usual) at Cape May.

Love the Winter Summerland mini golf. So fun to look at all the details there.

The Sea Raycer looks like fun. Never tried one of those.

Looking forward to whatever is happening next. :hyper:

Hhahaha exactly!! That's my sort of relaxing too, having a time limit on it.

LOL It was tough forgoing all the fun drinks the whole trip. I had LOTS of lemonade lol! I LOVE the sea raycers - we've been renting those since our dating days. Actually I think my mom and I even rented one back in 2000 during my 1st Disney WORLD trip. If I lived on a lake I would totally buy one.

I left off at the beginning of nap time, walking back to my Boardwalk room and trying to decide how to spend the afternoon. Of course, it was Day 2 and I hadn't been to a park yet. I also had an annual pass burning a hole in my pocket that I hadn't even used, AND it was the Flower & Garden festival. So after grabbing a couple things and clearing out under the stroller, I turned back around and headed off to EPCOT.

FYI the walk from the Boardwalk Villa is about 2-3 times longer to EPCOT than the Beach Club villa (say about 12 minutes instead of 4.). Not a big deal obviously but worth mentioning. Soon I was through the gate and heading into the UK. My plan was to do the World Showcase circle and I had one treat in mind that I really wanted to try.

First though I saw the awesome topiaries! Aria is really into Peter Pan so I took some photos in case she didn't have a chance to see them.

There was the Cars themed play area with topiaries, but Aria was still asleep

Are you wondering why I veered away from the World Showcase? Well after entering EPCOT I noticed Aria was barefoot. And I'd taken everything out of the stroller. Yep, she had no shoes!! Ooops. So instead of going back to the room I decided to find her some at Mouse Gear so that was actually my destination. They don't have too many choices but some Frozen crocs caught my eye and I knew she'd love them.

So after the bit of shopping, I went back into the WS and continued around past Mexico, Norway and on into China where I was thirsty! I ended up with a bubble tea which was delicious. Note: the new Skippers Canteen has a fun drink with these bubble things and I would go back just for that drink it was very good!

Then I made it to Japan which is where my treat was. I had a little moment of panic as I didn't see it on the menu at the first booth but then went in search and found it soon after. Frushi! I thought it would be something Aria would enjoy, so I actually cleared a little spot under the stroller and saved it for when she woke up.

10421131_10100328541876591_6412982682452325637_n.jpg

And then I kept walking!

11110030_10100328541916511_4183074784527038605_n.jpg

Perfect timing - Aria woke up as I passed France and she was very excited for her new shoes!

11377148_10100328541926491_2102819620676058561_n.jpg

We sat in the UK enjoying the frushi, but Aria enjoyed what was left of my bubble tea more! Then it was time to head out. I was tired so decided to take the boat back instead of walking even more.

11108858_10100328541956431_5131859800004459002_n.jpg

We got back with just enough time to drop off the stroller at the room and then check out the shops at the resort (love the Wyland gallery!). Aria enjoyed the grassy area a bit

11110965_10100328541986371_3158443991543292164_n.jpg

And then we headed to dinner! We had dinner plans at Trattoria al Forno. By the way, at this point Lynda & Aron were on their flight to Orlando. We had a full day the next day so they opted to fly in this evening and they slept on the pull out couch in my room (they got their own car though).

At the time of the trip, Trattoria al Forno was fairly new and had received fairly poor reviews, but I wanted to check it out (and cross it off my to-visit list!).

11401031_10100328542036271_2135867683586979006_n.jpg

Soon we were seated at a nice size table near the open kitchen.

11377277_10100328542086171_7917819573547118175_n.jpg

Aria enjoyed coloring (love that after 2 or so she was past the age where we had to bring toys and ipads and such to keep her entertained. Now she is really great at restaurants and is happy to color, though even some at Disney (California grill comes to mind) don't even have crayons and she is okay to just sit and chat).

11391374_10100328542106131_454694253622459508_n.jpg

Soon my appetizer came out - the caprese with house made mozzarella. It was absolutely fabulous, I hadn't had mozz this good since our trip to Italy.

11208641_10100328542121101_7079474935322262373_n.jpg

Aria had pasta with meatballs and green beans. Perfect meal for her! I cut up her meatballs but she ate them all, some pasta and most of her green beans.

11401325_10100328542156031_4234055270015636936_n.jpg

For my main dish I ordered a vegetarian risotto and it was delicious as well.

11390147_10100328542171001_4411575122895006457_n.jpg

For dessert I ordered the Bomboloni which was sort of like fried dough, with dark chocolate and vanilla gelato. These were fun and Aria enjoyed them as well (along with her own scoop of gelato).

11403361_10100328542205931_518472693359676972_n.jpg

After dinner we went back to the room - watched a Duffy nighttime show and a little after 8 Lynda & Aron showed up. We chatted for a bit, but it was bedtime for Aria and they hadn't even had dinner. They decided to head out to the Boardwalk to grab some food, but Aria and I went to sleep lol and didn't even hear them come back in around 11pm.

What a great afternoon! I have never been to F&G-- just F&W! And your meal at Trattoria looked wonderful. Isn't it funny how Disney capresse can surprise you? The best tomato I have ever had-- anywhere, ever-- was at Mama Melrose in January. And that's saying a lot-- I'm from a part of NC where the is a huge farm-to-table food scene, and we grow some amazing tomatoes around here. I have to say that you showed a lot of restraint skipping the rides-- I'm not sure I could be at Disney for two days without rideing SOMETHING!

Mmm I've had some amazing caprese's at Disney too. (wah I miss mozzarella hahaha).

I probably would have gone on some rides this day if Aria had woken up earlier but by the time she woke up (about 4) we needed to head back to the room (plus we were at the back entrance by then). Don't worry, we finally spend time in a park and do some things the next day!

Glad you started the report for the next trip. That is such a great idea to do the pressed pennies and give the roll of quarters, etc. - it's like a give but also an activity all in one which is nice

Good to know that the fantasia mini golf was harder that winter/summertime. We did the wintertime one a few trips ago and the kids enjoyed it but I could see them getting frustrated with anything harder

The Cape May breakfast looks really good - especially your french toast!

Glad you got another round of mini-golf in and a ride on the sea raycer

Oops, didn't realize there was another update

Sounds like a nice walk just soaking in World Showcase and glad you noticed the no shoes before Aria woke up.

I love the Peter Pan topiaries- especially how they put peter up on the roof.

Definitely want to hear your take on Skipper's canteen as I was so excited for it but it isn't exactly getting rave reviews

Glad you enjoyed your dinner - seems like they cooked your dishes well at least

I'm so glad we started doing the pressed pennies, it definitely makes for a fun activity. Yeah it'll be a while before I want to return to the Fantasia mini golf. At least the winter summerland is a ton of fun (and better themed anyway). Love Cape May breakfast! the character interaction is great.

LOL it gave me an excuse to buy something so it was fine (the shoes). I actually missed peter pan on the roof the first time but then with Aria we saw him. Apparently I forgot to snap a pic though!

Skipper's Canteen - well IMO it's getting poor reviews because people want plain food, which makes me sad. I ordered the soup which was one thing I was excited about on the menu before knowing about the allergies, and thankfully it was dairy & soy free. However the lunch was weird because Andrew & Aria had already eaten, and I had been to a couple CS places finding NOTHING to eat so I was in a bad mood (hungry) and Andrew was unhappy about stopping at a TS place, so it was just not really a great time for us. While waiting for my soup, Maya was fussy, so Andrew ended up bringing the girls outside and I ate my soup by myself lol. While not as spicy as I would have liked (thanks, Disney) it was refreshing to have something different and I would order it again for sure. Andrew also was impressed with the menu but he was full.

Thanks for your thoughts - I am really hoping they don't "dumb down" the menu before we get there in July. One complaint that I can kinda understand is that the prices do seem a bit high especially for lunch compared to other options ... and especially if you are afraid your child won't eat any of the options (a lot to pay for them not to eat something). I'd actually like to see them shift to a "small plates" menu for lunch so people can try different things and not be afraid of spending a lot on one thing they may not like.

Glad you were able to eat the soup though!

Sounds like a really nice afternoon enjoying the F&G festival! That's one time of year at Disney I have yet to experience. Maybe someday! It looks so beautiful with all of the colorful flowers all around.

I know just what you mean about not needing distractions at the table. It's so nice to be able to have a conversation with your kid at the table instead! And Paxton LOVES coloring so he is pretty content with that most of the time too. Although we are coming up with Delilah now, so I know distractions will be necessary for her for the next couple of years. She had already gotten to be a grabby hands by our February trip, which made mealtime quite interesting as she tried to grab everything within arm's reach!!

Aria is really into Peter Pan
Interesting, so is Izzy lately. And those topiaries were really cool.

Frozen topiaries - so cool
Yes, and a pun! :duck:

Yep, she had no shoes!! Ooops.
Oops, good excuse to shop, though. Glad she liked the new ones.

Mmmmm, sounds good. And good to know.

Yummy! Izzy didn't care much for it, either, but I liked it.

Haha, you also got a picture of someone about to be eaten by the croc! :rotfl:

Soon my appetizer came out - the caprese with house made mozzarella. It was absolutely fabulous, I hadn't had mozz this good since our trip to Italy.
Mmmm, that looks delicious. I love caprese! Everything looks really good, actually. We had an ADR here at one point, but changed it, so still on the list.

Wow, you guys really got a lot done while hanging out at the resort!

That is too funny about Aria's shoes. At least you could buy her some new ones at the park!

Mmmm...Frushi...so good. I just decided I'm going to get that in May, assuming that they have it again this year.

Your meal at Trattoria al Forno looks really good!

And they don't take TiW which bothered me as well, but it was just me so the discount wouldn't have been much anyway. I enjoyed the antics though and the theming as well.

F&G is fun - I've never participated in any of the seminars/events although I've been a few times now. The food is fun although with TS booked I rarely eat them...sooo basically the topiaries are all that I really enjoy from the F&G event lol!

Yep we are in the same boat with another couple years of having to do the toys and snacks at restaurants (well snacks in a couple months). It's funny having "older" 1st kids and then doing the baby thing again, how much things have changed in such a small period of time.

Interesting, so is Izzy lately. And those topiaries were really cool.

joining in

LOL I did see that croc biting someone but forgot about it when posting. I haven't heard much lately about Trattoria. Seems like that location is sort of doomed though, nothing lasts very long!

Wow, you guys really got a lot done while hanging out at the resort!

Yes there is so much to do around the boardwalk area!

And yes it was very good I was able to buy some shoes, otherwise she'd have been stroller bound til we got back to the room (and I had no idea at the time that she'd sleep for so long that I would make it all the way around the WS lol). YEs they do have Frushi again!

Quick interlude: we spent the weekend in Vermont (at my parents house) and had a great time. On Saturday we went to the Vermont chili festival which is the perfect food for all our various diets/allergies lol. Here are some pics!

Aria had her face painted and chose a balloon "wand"

image.jpeg
We warmed up inside an art gallery and Maya was very happy to get out of her car seat!

That evening back at the house:

Maya did well although the 4 hour drive took a toll on all of us. She was unhappy after about hour 2 :-/

On to Day 3 of the may trip! Today happened to be Mother's Day! I hadn't originally intended to do DHS (my least favorite park) on Mother's Day but the following weekend was SWW and also the day I had originally planned for DHS, and I didn't want to deal with SWW crowds so we swapped it to today - also the easiest ADR to swap (H&V) and I was still able to get it before the park opened. First we called up bell services to come get our bags, and then we made the short walk over the DHS.

our ADR was for 8AM and there was a bit of line for the pre-park breakfast but we were through it quickly.

They had a sweet touch for Mother's Day - they were handing out flowers!

11377194_10100328545184961_1930297693540348436_n.jpg

It was a fun breakfast. Lynda & Aron had a good time although they are not familiar with the characters lol (that may change soon...
:cool1:

Anyway from there we leisurely walked back to TSMM. Best part of FP+ right here -not having to do a mad dash to get here! We had a FP for 9:20. Once there we were ushered in to meet Woody & Buzz since there was no one there, so we made a pit stop over there!

Aria was ready! :rotfl2:

From there we split up, Lynda & Aron went off to ride RnRC and Aria and I went to the Disney junior show. I had a later FP that I was able to move forward, although the FP for this is pretty useless I think.

Aria had a ball and that is what mattered! :lovestruc

continued in next post-

After the show, L&A were still riding something so we went into the animation building to meet Minnie - zero wait!

And then we made our way slowly to the Frozen Sing a long area (when it was near the LMA show, now it's over by the Chinese theater). On the way I saw Cinderella's carriage from the movie so we got in a fairly lengthy line to get a photo in front of it. While waiting Lynda spotted us but they just waited at the end for us.

We still had a little time until the show (FP was for 11:20) so we headed to the play area (closed now, boo!!)

11377189_10100328544057221_1963363494429617569_n.jpg

I was able to climb through the web with Aria and we had a ball!

Lynda & Aron came through too hehe

11407101_10100328543957421_3076402761377819742_n.jpg

Look what we spotted by stroller parking!

11329971_10100328543902531_3644300912589384120_n.jpg

Then off to the show! Our FP got us right in and in pretty decent seats, too

11252354_10100328543877581_2712572502525218707_n.jpg

We all enjoyed the show and Aria sat on Lynda's lap for the duration. Love the adult humor, and it had even changed when we saw this again in February so they don't let it get stale which is nice!

Just outside we saw Mater & Lightning McQueen eeting so we hopped in line for that meet-

After our disasterous last trek onto the Great Movie Ride, I was unsure about doing it again but L&A wanted to ride it and Aria said she wouldn't be scared. So we tried it out and she did great! Phew! (Last time she cried after our driver was "shot" and replaced by a mobster). There was only a short wait. However the family ahead of us in line gave us quite the show - as we were walking in the line (since it was so short we never even had to stop) their child needed a diaper change. instead of heading to a bathroom, or even stopping somewhere, they did it midair! One parent held the kid up while the other one stripped her down, cleaned her bum and gave her a new diaper. It was a bit awkward!

11113902_10100328543653031_7950515415628686316_n.jpg

And that covered everything we wanted to do at DHS! We stopped for a quick lunch at the CS place near Brown Derby - there is where I found the kids snack pack which was perfect for Aria, and I had a sandwich of some sort. Food was good and quick and by about 12:30 we were heading back to the Boardwalk! We went straight to our cars, drove up to the bell stand for luggage and then drove the 3 minutes over to Bonnet Creek.

This would be our new home for the next week! We were splitting a 2 bedroom unit -I had booked through vacation strategies and it cost us about 800 for the week. Aria fell asleep on the short ride over and since I didn't know where we'd have to park since there are many buildings, Lynda hopped into my car to sit with her while I went inside and checked in. There was quite a line for check in and once I finally made it, they didn't have anything available yet. She took my cell # and told us we could use the pool until our room was ready so we headed to the main pool which is off the lobby.

Back outside I got aria transferred to the stroller where she stayed sound asleep, then we got our pool bags ready and went inside to change. Back outside we saw this splash area -

11350621_10100328543628081_6542334472858077828_n.jpg

But passed by that and headed to the pool since Aria was sleeping.

there was a (tiny) lazy river

11401092_10100328543618101_6944018233811444597_n.jpg

And a pretty good sized pool

11401210_10100328543573191_8732502998487355621_n.jpg

It was pretty busy but we did find some empty chairs near a hot tub and parked the stroller there. I got us situated while Lynda & Aron went for a dip. Over the next hour we took turns with one person staying with Aria and the other two swimming - it was very hot! Lynda & I enjoyed chatting while doing the lazy river a few times and we came back to Aria awake!

I had also been checking on the room too, as I still hadn't heard and was getting annoyed - it was nearing 4PM! Finally I went inside and they assigned me a room. Not sure why it took so long but we finally got one, it was in building 5 (I think - it was the one with the pirate pool area). We drove around to that building, grabbed suitcases and headed up to our room. I will say - the space was fantastic and size was really great! The furnishings were really nice too and it was very clean.

L&A took the master bedroom and Aria and I took the one with two beds.

Our bathroom was fine:

Kitchen and you can sort of see living area lol. Aron is standing in the entrance to the master.

Spoiler - we didn't cook. I used the fridge to keep water & milk cool, and sometimes some leftovers! haha

Since we were still wet from swimming, instead of showering we decided to check out the pools near us!

I did a little google search so you can get an idea for the resort - it is a number of buildings surrounding a lake, with a few different pool areas.

So we headed downstairs, but first had to figure out towel issues - towels were only distributed in a certain spot and you could only get so many with your room key and needed to return them by a certain time, etc, or you'd be charged. I think Lynda ended up searching for where to get the towels. I went in search of life jackets, which they don't have for free. They sell blow up ones. Ugh! I had packed a pool noodle because I'd read about them selling those sorts of things, but didn't realize I needed to pack a life jacket (that seems like something they should provide IMO). Once we had worked out the kinks, we grabbed a couple chairs at the pool area.

11390378_10100328546143041_5365932523876173213_n.jpg

It was nicely themed. L&A wanted drinks and so Aria and I shared a mango smoothie as well.

11350621_10100328546098131_3713957085820799334_n.jpg

Once in the pool we found many shallow areas which Aria enjoyed

1374359_10100328546028271_72273231513990119_n.jpg

Lynda went down the slide, I decided not to after she mentioned it killed her back

11391110_10100328545993341_8309322985857682327_n.jpg

Instead Aria and I enjoyed the water

11401317_10100328545978371_6339461076049432321_n.jpg

After checking out that pool, we decided to walk to the next building over which had a lazy river pool

They did have free tubes to use here, thankfully

And we had a blast going around this. There were various water sprayers and Aria was absolutely loving them (and even moreso watching when Lynda & Aron went in them!).

I have decided to request Building 4 if we stay here again, as we really enjoyed that lazy river area much more than the pool nearest us. After this, we needed to head back to the room to do a little unpacking, shower and get ready for dinner!

One more post for the day!

Tonight we had plans for dinner at California Grill! L&A had never been. Wishes was at 10PM so we didn't have plans to stay for that, but we were very excited for dinner nonetheless.

Aria held onto the pager for our minute long wait to be seated lol

10501963_10100328543413511_6785373946725539690_n.jpg

It was a good thing we did not want to see the fireworks as we were facing the wrong direction - we were seated in the back room where I think they sometimes do private events. It was a really nice room to be in though!!

A nice pic of L&A, plus our server was caught in the background. He was fantastic!

Lynda decided to start with a sushi platter

11390064_10100328543313711_1346319470201089772_n.jpg

I know that CA Grill is known for its sushi but I'm not a fan so I've never experienced it first hand - well apparently it lives up to the hype as Lynda thought it was absolutely fantastic.

Aron started with a flatbread

11390115_10100328543293751_6443292886490376525_n.jpg

I had the goat cheese ravioli. I've had hit or miss versions of this, but when it's good it is REALLY good, so I had to try it again. Today's was delicious!

11377211_10100328543263811_2521013352040087589_n.jpg

For my main I had their statler chicken which was delicious as well

11419312_10100328543253831_1202588438541607053_n.jpg

Aron had steak of some sort

11264825_10100328543198941_3117909451369755947_n.jpg

Aria had some of my chicken along with some veggies from all our plates. Lynda never ended up ordering a main dish because her sushi plate was so large. We all really loved our meals and we really had a fantastic evening out.

Back in our room we all crashed as we had another early morning the next day!

That looks like an awesome day-- you really pack the fun in on your vacations! I think it's so neat that you can travel with Lynda-- sometimes I wish for a travel buddy other than my husband, who is happy with a short trip, fusses about the amount of sugar we consume and gets cranky in crowds. They seem like great travel companions. Your Cg meal looks great! We tried it our first trip ever, and it was really dissapointing-- so much so that we've never been back. I would love to try their sushi, though-- looks amazing!

It turned out to be a blast traveling with them. I didn't know Aron well before the trip, since they live in Maryland (both are in the Air Force) and I was a bit apprehensive about it. I like to plan things *my* way and thankfully they really let me plan it all out, but then they also know the things they like to do and weren't afraid of speaking up and going to do those things (unlike when we travel with DH's parents who just follow us around the whole time). So it actually turns into the perfect amount of time with them and a little time for Aria and me to go off and do other things too. Andrew is really not very fun to travel with either, as you mention he gets very cranky (in the heat, especially) and we butt heads over what we want to do, even though he carries no responsibility of pre-planning anything. The best is when we get home from our trips and he'll go tell all his coworkers how to plan out a trip or directs them to me, despite complaining about it all while on the trip.

Anyway, that being said, we don't currently have another trip planned together but I do hope to. Lynda is getting out of the air force in December (most likely) so she has been focusing on job opportunities, plus a potential life changing thing I found out about yesterday and am awaiting news on from her :lovestruc

Aria is also a really fun travel companion. Now with Maya along, we will need to figure out that into future trips (I've been looking into potential 1st birthday trips for her, which is when I think I'm prepared to take Maya next as she'll be done with nursing and I don't have to stay away from foods and such for her).

She looks so much bigger/grown up every time you post a new picture! Cute!

Aria was ready to meet Sofia!
Love her Sofia dress!

Aria not too sure about dancing (although she wouldn't even go up there last trip so I guess it's good she actually went up!)
Yay, glad Jake got her up there. Izzy had never been interested in the participation things before, but she went up and danced with Stitch at our Surf's Up breakfast at Disneyland. So fun to see them participating.

Side note, I got Aria a Doc outfit to wear for our next visit to H&V, she has represented Jake and Sofia enough it's definitely Doc's turn lol!
Nice. Izzy (despite her Doc birthday cake) has never been super into Doc McStuffins, but she randomly went on a Doc McStuffins watching spree this weekend. Now she seems to be a much bigger fan (she normally wants Mickey Mouse Clubhouse to the exclusion of all other Disney Junior shows).

Wow, she really does love him!

It was a fun breakfast.
Sounds like it! Whenever we make it back to WDW, I think we will have to try that one.

Lynda & Aron had a good time although they are not familiar with the characters lol (that may change soon...
:cool1:
 :thumbsup2 :hyper: (if this is what I think it is, YAY!)

Haha, glad Izzy's not the only one who insists that glasses be worn upsidedown.

After the show, L&A were still riding something so we went into the animation building to meet Minnie - zero wait!
Wish we'd gotten to this on our last trip. Glad you did!

Love her little pose!

their child needed a diaper change. instead of heading to a bathroom, or even stopping somewhere, they did it midair! One parent held the kid up while the other one stripped her down, cleaned her bum and gave her a new diaper. It was a bit awkward!
 What is wrong with people? (but talented, I guess, if they managed to do it!)

there is where I found the kids snack pack which was perfect for Aria
We love those too!

I went in search of life jackets, which they don't have for free.
Wow, can't believe they'd charge you for them!

It was a really nice room to be in though!!
Looks nice with the lake views. And perfect when it's not fireworks time. Glad you had another good meal there!
