I'd Walk a Mile for a Cupcake- an SSR Quickie! 4/4-4/7/11 FINISHED!! 6/29

Awesome trip report! Can't wait for our July trip. Especially enjoying the great pictures!

First leaving the laptop in the limo before your cruise then dropping the iPhone then the lanyard what else can happen to you guys. Lol glad youmhad a great time

OMG the food porn is KILLING me!!! Going "home"to SSR in 7 weeks! Enjoying your trip report of your beautiful family. Would you choose Koussina or Flying Fish? I am going to cancel one of those res to sub a California Grill.....

I think on this next trip Epcot will gain huge points. We just haven't got to spend enough time in WS. We need to ditch the kids and go to The Ditch!

YES!!! That works! :thumbsup2

Michael's favorite is DHS and his least is MK; good thing he's a fabulous chef. :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

Yea...I saw that food porn on your FB page....do you cook at all?? His food looks delicious!:lovestruc

Disneyland has the same pennies and I know my kids throw some in every time. Look around next time and see if you notice anyone *making wishes*.

Well, I have never done that, so CLEARLY I am behind- I'll have to grab a BIG stack for May to toss!!

Great! I love pics in TRs, too- so i'm glad they're helping to get you excited for your trip-:goodvibes

:thanks: for the recipe. I will pass it along to DH. ;)

It was really really really good frosting- at first i wasn't sure, but after I had iced the cake and we cut into it, I had NO doubts.

Yes- clearly my family has some issues! :rotfl2: We're such airheads!!

Can I let you know in a couple of weeks? We are eating at FF in May, and my last experience there was several years ago- and it was a BAD one. But it has been getting REALLY good reviews this year- so we'll see. I want the tuna appetizer, and the scallops for dinner....but I also really want to try the crabcake- I'm hoping one of my nice friends will want to split them with me. :lovestruc And Cal Grill is amazing- want to go back there in November...I think.....it's SOOOO hard to decide, isn't it?

NECKLACES (yea- that's right, Drea- I said it again!!!) all accounted for, we went off to use our Splash FPs-

IMG_1225.jpg

It was pretty crowded, as you can see. You know how I said that yesterday (the rainy day) I just couldn't go to MK because I need a big blue sky behind the castle? Well, I think I'm not the only one who feels that way!

Soon we were up front!

IMG_1229.jpg

I had only been on this ride once before- I have a water flume fear that goes back to riding the flume at Great Adventure when I was a kid. My cousin's friend brought her 9 month old baby with us, and just HELD HIM on the ride (gotta love the 70's!). It freaked me out SOOOO much- we were just sitting in a LOG for God's sake! There were not even belts to hold you in then (again, gotta LOVE the 70's- alllllll about safety!). As a result, I have avoided them (the flume rides- not the people- although I never saw them again) ever since. I went on Splash with T&T& pods in 2008- and really loved it!! I still have some anxiety about that drop, but I was looking forward to riding again- especially because there's a lap bar. :rotfl:

At that point it was approaching 2:00, and we knew we needed to take a break from the crowds, so we headed out to go swimming with our friends at BLT-

IMG_1236.jpg

Gotta love that blue sky- gotta hate the fact that everyone else does, too! :rotfl:

Up next- swimming at BLT, and "WHERE ARE YOUR NECKLACES?????!!!!!!!"

:thumbsup2 :lovestruc LOVE MK! I'm not screaming with my caps, just emphasizing. Seriously, I want half of my ashes spinkled on Main St and the other in Pacific Ocean. Well, that's if Jews were allowed to be cremated, which we're not....sorry for the tangent.

Love the castle and the blue sky although the FL crowds look horrible. :scared: FL is the worst place for crowds too especially due to the enormous amount of strollers. Not bashing, I was a double stroller pusher too. :goodvibes

I am jonesing for a good Disney fix. I can't believe I will be 15 minutes from Disneyland and won't be going. But a promise is a promise. Remind me to never make that promise again.

It was a good time to take a break from MK- the crowds were so thick! As I had mentioned, we had a LOT of friends from our hometown who were here for Spring Break, and while most of them were staying at SSR, one family was at BLT- so lucky us, we only had a short walk to go for our swim!!:goodvibes

IMG_1238.jpg

I love seeing friends from home on vacation, and what was REALLY great was that this particular family (who we knew from Tyler playing PAL football- the Dad was one of his coaches & the son one of Tyler's team mates) will also be on our next family vacation- they will be on our RC Explorer cruise in August! :dance3: Anyway, they own their points at BLT, and this was their first trip to their home- and they were LOVING it!! It was great to spend some time with them, and it gave the kids some time to hang out, too. Phyllis took abot 50 pics of us (she was the team photographer- she makes me look like I don't even own a camera!:rotfl: ) here are just a couple-

IMG_1239.jpg

IMG_1241.jpg

And here they are-

IMG_1243.jpg

IMG_1245.jpg

After a couple of hours, we realized it was REALLY time to go- we had an early dinner reservation at Raglan Road with some very special friends, and we needed to get moving- so we stopped back up in the villa, grabbed our things, said our good byes, and Phyllis walked us over to the monorail-

IMG_1246.jpg

IMG_1247.jpg

IMG_1248.jpg

And just as the monorail doors closed, I noticed, ONCE AGAIN, what was missing....

WHERE ARE YOUR NECKLACES????!!!!!????!!!!!!:scared1::scared1:

Timmy realized he had left them on the kitchen table at BLT- of course, now we were on the monorail, had to go on the full loop, AND we were NEVER going to make an early dinner reservation if we wanted to shower when we got back to SSR (and we REALLY needed to shower- it was REALLY hot at BLT, I think the building was blocking the breeze).

For dinner, we were supposed to meet some people who are very, VERY important to me- Tracy, who was a little girl once-upon-a-time that I babysat for (along with her siblings:lovestruc), and who I vacationed with, and who was in my wedding, and whose family hosted my bridal shower, who is now a Mom herself with two adorable daughters; they were staying at the Gaylord Palms with Tracy's husband (who I had never met) and Tracy's Dad. Well, as it turned out, when i called Tracy, she answered her cell phone in NJ- one of her girls was sick, so she was coming down the next day (and unfortunately, both girls ended being sick on their vacation- :sad1:) and that meant our ADR wasn't going to happen. Which, while it made me awfully sad, also kept my screaming at my kids to a minimum! :rotfl2: I DO have to include a pic, taken this past Christmas, when they came for a visit-

IMG_2448.jpg

Aren't hey just SOOOO precious??? :lovestruc Anyway...back to the disaster on the monorail....

So I called Phyllis, unable to reach her but leaving frantic messages...now, if they had been staying at any other resort or DVC, for that matter, it wouldn't really be an issue. But at BLT, in order to get into the building itself, you need to have a room key...OR, you need to walk very fast to catch up to the people ahead of you who just opened the door with theirs- which was our preferred method... But once inside, we had to figure out which room they were in, and hope that they were actually in the room- which somehow, we MIRACULOUSLY found, and when they opened the door, the four of them were totally hystericallly laughing at us. :lmao:

Always nice to provide entertainment for everyone.

So it was time for yet ANOTHER lecture- just to be clear- T&T were told they would NOT take their necklaces off EVER!!!! They would sleep with them, shower with them, eat with them, watch tv with them, go to the bathroom with them...heck, they might even have to get MARRIED with them because THOSE NECKLACES WERE NEVER COMING OFF AGAIN!!!!!! EVER!!!!:headache:

We hopped on the monorail to MK once more, then took the bus back to SSR......

Up next- alternate dinner plans and the Magic the Memories, and US!!

IMG_1250.jpg

They lost them AGAIN!?:scared1: Bless your heart!! Glad that you didn't have to worry about being late for dinner, but sorry that you missed eating with your friends! How did the boys like the BLT pool? The pictures I've seen make it seem really cool! I especially love the slide!

Again????

You....betcha!! Happy times!!! Neat stuff!!! :thumbsup2

I want half in WDW (haven't decided where yet, probably in Epcot, but maybe just a little here and there) and Barnegat Bay in LBI (NJ). The Jewish cremation subject recently came up (unfortunately) and a friend of mine who is a Funeral Director informed me he has cremated many jews. I'm thinking they were not all that religious...

Love the castle and the blue sky although the FL crowds look horrible. :scared: FL is the worst place for crowds too especially due to the enormous amount of strollers. Not bashing, I was a double stroller pusher too. :goodvibes

Yea- we were one of those families pushing the double stroller through the parks. OMG, did we hate that thing!! So happy when they could walk- but then, we would always get one at the end of the day in Epcot and all 3 would take turns because they were so tired. Can't believe how far past that time of life we are already...:sad1:

I am jonesing for a good Disney fix. I can't believe I will be 15 minutes from Disneyland and won't be going. But a promise is a promise. Remind me to never make that promise again.

15 minutes??? Oh NOOOOOO!!!!!! You are NEVER making that promise again!! Just too hard to do!!

Yes they did! And let me tell you, Tyler was pretty happy about it, because Timmy was the one who left them. Timmy had mentioned once or 20 times prior to this that he was the only one who hadn't lost anything on the trip. After BLT, we were all on an even playing field- well, kind of.

They really liked the slide- but they love Stormalong Bay, and would rather be there-:goodvibes I LOVE the way this pool looks at night, though- the neon really makes it great!:thumbsup2

Still loving the report! So glad they found the lanyards fairly easily. I really wanted to try Ragland Road when we were there but i was outnumbered.:lmao: oh well, maybe next time. keep it coming!

On the bus back to SSR, I had a nice conversation with another passenger- she was late to her DME because she had been stuck on CoP for over 1/2 an hour. :scared1: I had been jonesin for a ride on it, it's been a loooong time.....but after hearing her story, the thought of being stuck on there with T&T for 1/2 an hour just did NOT hold any appeal, so my next ride on CoP will have to wait. Anyway....we decided to get off at the Grandstand and take a little walk (although we had to convince Tyler...)....

Helllooooooo Rita-

IMG_1258.jpg

After spending a little time chatting at the pool bar, and receiving an adequate amount of sympathy for my necklace story, I decided to enjoy the rest of Rita on my balcony-

Once the kids had showered, we decided to grab a quick dinner at AP, and then head back to MK. Up next!

I never realized it until now when I was looking at the pics from your balcony that you stayed in the same section that we were in last year. I thought that the view looked familiar, so I went back to see which room you were in and discovered that you were exactly one floor higher than us when we were there!
IMG_3704.jpg

I know it probably seems a little silly, but how often do you find others who stay in a room so close to where you stayed?! Too bad we couldn't have both been there at the same time!

Really awesome photos! Thanks again for sharing.

You're welcome!! I'm happy to!!:goodvibes

RR is really good- I have eaten there twice- that Bread pudding is TDF....worth the trip just for that! :worship:

Not silly at all!! Very cool coincidence- it was an excellent location, wasn't it? :thumbsup2

We were grabbing a quick dinner at AP- this would be my 3rd or 4th visit, and i had liked it in the past, so figured why not? We placed our orders, and while we waited, I took some pics of the food that is offered there-

IMG_1272.jpg

IMG_1273.jpg

Both boys were having nuggets for dinner-

IMG_1274.jpg

They said they were just ok- I loved the chips, though- I was having a flatbread, the buffalo chicken one-

IMG_1275.jpg

It looks pretty good, and I love the concept of it, but I did not enjoy this at all. I think the problem was that all of the elements were prepared soooo much earlier that day- it tasted like the carrots & celery had been shredded days ago, the chicken nuggets fried days ago and the whole wheat crust just wasn't that good (and I am a whole-grain eater, so it's not that the whole wheat turned me off- just THIS whole wheat did- KWIM?). Oh well-

We were finished quickly, and that mattered, too, so we left and it was 9pm.

IMG_1276.jpg

As soon as we got to the Bus Stop, the MK bus pulled up and we boarded an empty bus- can't beat that for transport mojo!! :woohoo:

IMG_1277.jpg

Up next- lots and lots of night time MK fun!!:yay::yay::yay:

Great pics Ellen! :thumbsup2 Makes me so excited to finally stay at SSR next year. ;)

I love Rita, she and I go waaaaay back! :drinking1

The pools look fun too. Can't wait to walk aimlessly around SSR.

The girls went to Disneyland yesterday, I did NOT. I did cruise around the GCH though. Home sweet home. :goodvibes It's so fabulous.

Heading home to Utah today. It's always so bittersweet.

Great food pics!!! I really like the Chicken Artichoke flatbread at AP.

Also we always request buffalo sauce for the chicken nuggets to spice em up!

DS loves the Chocolate cupcakes! I will show him this pic. No matter where we stay, we always go to AP for the cupcakes!! He does not like sprinkles and AP is the only place that sells cupcakes without sprinkles!:rotfl: Believe me we have Looked!

SSR looks great and I love how they play the music all over the grounds:love:
