I'd Walk a Mile for a Cupcake- an SSR Quickie! 4/4-4/7/11 FINISHED!! 6/29

LOVE all the food porn. Thanks so much for the TR to date - can't wait to see how it all ends!

PS: I would have taken that peanut butter cupcake all for myself too ... :D

I'm so glad you like the fp! I love that PB cupcake- I hear there's a really good one at the BW Bakery, too. I'll be checking that one out in November! :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 Nice old school Warner Bros reference. Love the photos. The boys look like they're having a blast!

You are a hell of a mom because I'm pretty sure I wouldn't haul my cookies over to DHS from Epcot for cupcakes.

Have you started your new tr?

Glad you got that Daffy Duck reference- I didn't know if anyone would!

Yes, the TR is started- the link is in my sig- it's the last one. Also put a link on the first page of this TR in the table of contents to it. See you there! :)

I have really enjoyed your TR - you have a very entertaining writing style and great photos, too. :worship:

Thank-you! :goodvibes And YOU have a very beautiful country- I visited Scotland with girfriends several years ago. My GF Fiona is Scottish and wanted to show us where she grew up- we stayed in Linlithgow at her cousin's B&B, ardmore House, which was magnificent, then stayed in Kildrummy Castle, then stayed with her BFF in County Fife, she at that time was director of sales at St Andrews, so we went for the most lovely tea there- what a wonderful trip that was! Really hope to go back one day with my hubby and Fiona again!! :goodvibes

Anyway, thanks so much for reading!! :)

I am glad you enjoyed your visit to Scotland. :goodvibes We're from up north - but still have lots of golf courses and castles nearby. ;)

We almost went all the way up- Orkney looks amazing to me, otherworldly- but not enough time on this trip, we were 6 nights. I also would have liked to have gone to Isle of Skye- Talisker is my favorite whisky! :goodvibes Also looks like an incredibly beautiful place. Do you have puffins where you live?

No puffins for us , I'm afraid - just lots of very large (and greedy) seagulls!

My DH has been to Orkney and the Shetlands, but I've never made it to those islands yet. Isle of Skye is a lovely place to visit - it's been a few years now since we've been over there (we're on the East coast), but it is really beautiful and we hope to go back there sometime. :cloud9:

However, we love visiting our other home - SSR - for our Disney fix and to enjoy the great weather. :goodvibes

Oh, Ellen, you never cease to crack me up!!:rotfl: I wonder if I could get away with the heat stroke excuse?? Prolly not half as well as you!! ;)

Wow, that was some amazing food you showed us. I honestly had no idea that any of it really existed--especially those cupcakes from Starring Rolls. I'm so gonna have to stop and have one of those. And can you tell me exactly what that schoolbread stuff is? Is it really sweet? It looks good, but just wasn't sure what it consisted of!!

What an exciting adventure that was! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time!!

I have to say- I like visiting BOTH of your homes!! :goodvibes

Hi! Sorry it's taking me so long to finish this- June was INSANE- so much going on at school, in our family, and with baseball. Anyway, no, the schoolbread is not really sweet- it's filled with a custard, maybe vanilla? But not supersweet. I really enjoyed this first one- the second one on the DISmom trip was not as good- it was stale and barely had any custard at all. And there is coconut on top.

Finally catching up with your TR. And I don't mind that it's making it's way into June because of you, we wouldn't have had our sugar overload from the Caramel store. My DH thinks you and I should NEVER meet. He's positive that you would send me over into a diabetic coma with those cupcakes. I didn't know those cupcakes at Starring Roles. I showed them to him last night.
But I told him that Starring Rolls is in DHS, one of his favorite parks, not mine. He laughed  he knows he has me now:rotfl: Well, now I know where to go when the "heat stroke" symptoms start:laughing:.

So I watched the boat pull slowly away....

and I knew I had to hoof it. I had to get back to EPCOT, and I just couldn't stand the thought of waiting and waiting at that dock for the next boat. So off I went-

IMG_1409.jpg

See those people up there? They ate my dust about 1 1/2 minutes after this pic was taken. Then I saw-

IMG_1410.jpg

And-

IMG_1411.jpg

I flew by a family with a stroller- and then-

IMG_1413.jpg

I was pretty happy walking by the BWV, knowing that I would be back here in a month. Pretty freakin' HOT, but happy, nonetheless...

IMG_1414.jpg

Water water everywhere, and not a drop to drink...man, was I thirsty! Did I mention it was hot and humid that day? OMG, I was sooooo thirsty!

IMG_1415.jpg

IMG_1416.jpg

The Yacht Club was set up for a corporate event-

IMG_1417.jpg

Did you notice the boats in the pic over at the BW? One was heading to DHS...one was going to Epcot....

IMG_1418.jpg

IMG_1419.jpg

I am a fast, fast walker....especially in WDW. I don't mess around. But that day I was fast even for ME, I was pretty proud of myself! I even stopped to high five a passing family on a surrey bike- and STILL....

I beat that friendship boat to Epcot- well, actually, i think I tied it, because the people were just getting off as I power-walked by them and swiped myself back through the International Gateway.

Seriously. I beat the boat.

And for the record....I had NO guilt WHATSOEVER when I chowed down on my great big yummy PB Cupcake at home- NONE. Too bad I am not that motivated every day- I'd be a size 0 in no time!!!:rotfl:

IMG_1420.jpg

I still had to get to the front of the park- so I continued at my breakneck pace-

IMG_1421.jpg

IMG_1422.jpg

IMG_1423.jpg

I called the boys on their cell phone- they had just gotten off SOAT and were on their way outside to meet me-

IMG_1425.jpg

Here they are!

IMG_1426.jpg

IMG_1427.jpg

We wasted no time, and headed straight for a last ride on Test Track-

IMG_1428.jpg

Here I am, sweaty, smelly, cupcake lovin mom of the year-

IMG_1429.jpg

We had a SWEET ride...

IMG_1430.jpg

IMG_1431.jpg

So sweet, we actually slept through some of it-

IMG_1433.jpg

Up next- the end of our quickie trip......

I have really enjoyed this Trip report-

all the pictures are so wonderful - thanks for taking the time to give such a great trip report!! :thumbsup2

That made me spit out my coffee!! :rotfl2::rotfl2: I actually am not a big sweets eater- but I DO love me some PB Cupcakes! :cloud9: I'm not a huge DHS fan either, (even if my favorite ride is there) so I am always happy when I find a new draw there- to enhance my experience. I hope it does the same for you!! :goodvibes

I'm so glad- thank-you so much for saying so!! I should have the last post up later today-

We had a really fun ride on TT, and it was time to go...almost.

IMG_1434.jpg

Tyler had mentioned when walking by Spaceship Earth that we hadn't been on that one in a long time...so off we went...

IMG_1435.jpg

IMG_1436.jpg

IMG_1437.jpg

And then it really WAS time to head back to SSR...buh-bye Epcot...see you next month!

IMG_1439.jpg

IMG_1440.jpg

We actually headed back a little early for our DME....because I had promised Timmy a ride on a Surrey bike while we were at SSR and, well...it was now or never. While we went for our ride, Tyler used up the rest of his arcade card. SSR really is a pretty resort, and it was fun to tool around a little bit and see some of the areas we had missed. Even if I was peddling as fast as I could, because we kind of didn't have a lot of time- the nice CM who rented us the bike, no matter how many times I stressed we had to get on the DME in an hour, just didn't seem to get the concept of time. She spent about 20 minutes explaining the Surrey to us. When we finally went out, we went past the new pool that was being built at the Paddocks. But since I couldn't slow down too much, these are the only pics I took-

IMG_1442.jpg

IMG_1443.jpg

:rotfl: Pathetic, huh? These I took while I was peddling-

IMG_1444.jpg

IMG_1445.jpg

The CM who rented us the bike was very surprised we were back so quickly- and I explained AGAIN we had a DME to catch. Still, she looked baffled by the whole concept. Don't most people just LIVE at Disney? Why go?? :confused3 She was nice enough to take our pic before we got off, though-

IMG_1448.jpg

We hustled Tyler out of the arcade, I filled my mug with Light Lemonade which I CHUGGED!! Grabbed our bags...and the DME pulled in. PERFECT!!!!

IMG_1449.jpg

I hate that STUPID movie!!

Before ya knew it, we were on our last thrill ride of the trip-

IMG_1450.jpg

We are fortunate to be able to go to WDW every year with our kids because of our DVC. But THIS trip was SPECIAL in so many ways, because it was just the three of us, and because we truly had so much fun together on a trip that was last minute and really wasn't planned. :grouphug: So if you're ever on the fence about whether or not to hit WDW for just 3 nights at the last minute? Do IT!!! We'll treasure our memories forever!! :lovestruc

Thanks for reading- hope you'll join me over on the DISmoms TR!:goodvibes

Ellen:flower3:

:sad1:I'm so sad that it's over, Ellen!! I have enjoyed reading every bit! I'm so glad that you had that time with the boys...I know it was special for all of you!:grouphug:

And it never fails that with each of your reports you teach me at least one thing new. SSR has been our home resort since 2009, and we've stayed there twice--and I had NO idea that they rent the surrey bikes there!:confused3 That would be a wonderful way to see the entire resort!

Thanks for taking the time to share your adventures with us! You are such a blessing to these boards. I know I have learned a ton from you. Heck, it was all because of your HHI report that we decided to go there last year! I can't wait until your next family trip, which will be when??:)

I've really enjoyed reading your TR - it seems that you guys had a blast! :goodvibes

I'm sure we'll never take a 3 day trip to WDW - the jet lag just wouldn't be worth it  - but love reading about everyone's adventures between our trips to give us our Disney fix.

I love the Test Track pic! LOL!:thumbsup2

Well, look at you, all squished in-between! Thanks for liking our pic- we debated on what to do in the car- the people infront of us were like HUH???? :rotfl: We explained to them, we HAD to do a great pic, it was our last one of the trip- and they, oddly, accepted us as if we WEREN'T freaks!! :rotfl2:

Thanks for appreciating our efforts! :thumbsup2

MISSY!!! You're makin me cry, girlfriend!! It was a great and special trip- I'm so, sooo happy Tyler could go (and ps- that same coach that said GO! is now his summer coach- so I guess it really WAS ok for him to go!), I was ecstatic Timmy got to be the Birthday Boy- he really, really enjoyed that! AND ...I'm always going to be happy I was with my sons- they were very, very, very wonderful, all around (except for the necklaces, which were NOT funny AT ALL!!!!!!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Until now, I guess..)

So happy you're goin on a surrey ride next time- can't wait to see the pics, BTW...

And i think everyone- EVERYONE- who writes ANYTHING productive on these boards is a blessing- including you- we share our experiences, our joys, our mis-haps, our successes, and even our failures- and all of us on here- ALL of us- connect and bond and have a better day- whether we are actually AT Disney, or just planning to go yet ANOTHER time- or sitting at home, not knowing when the next time IS actually coming, but are wishing so hard for it to be soon- well, we all get "it" and we are ALL blessed-

And thanks for blessing ME by reading all I had to type!

i am super impressed that you had the energy to do the surrey bike after that marathon walk from DHS to and through Epcot!Wow!
