The SW points are in your SW Rapid Rewards account with the airline and not in your Visa account. So if you close the card, you will not lose the points.I currently have a SW Chase Visa card I have had for a couple of years. The offer I got was to get 75 thousand miles based on certain amount of purchases within a time period, which I did. I have used those miles to travel to MCO.
I want to know if I cancel the card will the balance of the miles I have as part of the originally 75 thousand be deleted from my account? After cancelling the card, how long do I have to wait in order to apply to get a new offer?
Currently what do you think the best SW Chase offer is? I see one for 80 thousand but it is $199 fee.
TIA.
You are eligible to receive a new bonus 24 months for when you received your last bonus not when you opened the card. So if you opened in 6/17 but received your bonus in 8/17 so would use the 8/17 date as your starting point for the 2 years. Chase has instituted one SW personal card at a time. So you would close your current card and then wait a bit to reapply for any of the personal cards when you are past that two year mark.
Southwest also has 2 business cards and while they have the bonus constraints, they do not have the one at a time constraint.
Many people will work towards the 110k in a year point mark in order to get the companion pass. So if you open one personal and one business or both businesses, you’ll reach that mark. It is good for the current year and following. Many of us on this board have the CP.
