We are thinking about spending a few days in Waikiki before our check in at Aulani. Can any recommend a hotel? we are looking for nice ocean front and location to nightlife would be important. We have young adults who would like to experience the night life before heading to Aulani. Thank you.

We are staying at the Sheraton Princess, one block behind the beach. Beachfront is very expensive.

We stayed at the Royal Hawaiian in the Mailani tower and absolutely loved our stay. It was right amongst everything but the way the resort is built it was so peaceful. In the evenings we could listen to Duke’s live music from our balcony. We caught a Marriott deal where it was $495/nt so that felt like a steal compared to Aulani.

Our go to spot is the Aston Waikiki Beach. Ocean front room under $300,Tiki’s grill & bar on the same level as check in, live music nightly. Beach across the street, Honolulu Zoo across the street at the end of the block. The other end of Waikiki Beach (Moana Surfrider, Royal Hawaiian, etc) is a pleasant 5 minute walk. The Waikiki Trolley also has a stop there.

We loved the Aston Waikiki Beach and the Hyatt Regency Waikiki beach. Technically there is the road in between the hotel and the beach (only a few are directly ON the beach) but it wasn’t an issue, and the rooms are beautiful full on ocean views, with plenty to do/see

You can't beat Moana Surfrider. We had an ocean front room and you are RIGHT on the ocean! Not to mention it's a landmark and has so much history associated with it. Right in the middle of the main strip of Waikiki so you can walk to everything and enjoy the true spirit of Hawaii.

Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa

It's at the end of Waikiki Beach, near the zoo. It is less crowded than the other areas on the beach but still an easy walk to the other areas.
