We've just come back from the Hotel New York and it was lovely - lovely rooms, polite and friendly staff.
The highlight was the pool for my two - it was a bit nippy when you first go in it takes your breath away but once you've been in for a few minutes then it's fine. It's 5ft all over (although there are steps to get in gradually) but lots of floats, arm bands, rings and floats that fasten round little ones so my 6 yr old non swimmer could bob around safely. My 9 yr old had lots of fun with the various floats too.
The jacuzzi is supposed to be for over 12 (or was it over 16?) which we stuck to for the first few days but everyone else had their kids in so after a few days I let mine in when it was quiet - very nice! The bubbles are on for 15 mins then off for 15 mins.
There are no individual changing cubicles which was a bit tricky for me and two boys (just turned 6 and 9). I took the little one in with me but felt a bit awkward for the ladies getting changed. My 9 yr old managed in the mens but one day he was nervous (he's got ASD and is very anxious!) because the men's changing room was empty so I put him in the disabled toliet in the ladies but again felt awkward. Either family changing or individual changing rooms would be good for those of us with children of the opposite sex.
In the ladies changing room there's a sauna and a steam room which looked nice - couldn't go in as I had the children with me. Pool staff were friendly. You get your towels for swimming at the pool reception and put them in the towel bin afterwards.
The bar was lovely but expensive - lovely cocktails for the children with sweet kebabs on or flashy pirates / tinkerbell.
Breakfast was lovely - lots of selection. We were there for 7am most days and it wasn't busy. We went a couple of times for 10 - 10.30 and there was a small queue but only 5 or so minutes.
The hotel was very clean. Room service was quick - we spent 7 euros on a tea and coffee pack a few times. It comes with a kettle, cups, biscuits and a selection of tea, coffee, decaf coffee, and other herbal tea bags. And a jug of milk and some long life milk. Next time I will take my own tea bags, little milk cartons and coffee however and save some money. The kettle on it's own is free.
