Hotel New York FAQ & Information Thread

We've just come back from the Hotel New York and it was lovely - lovely rooms, polite and friendly staff.

The highlight was the pool for my two - it was a bit nippy when you first go in it takes your breath away but once you've been in for a few minutes then it's fine. It's 5ft all over (although there are steps to get in gradually) but lots of floats, arm bands, rings and floats that fasten round little ones so my 6 yr old non swimmer could bob around safely. My 9 yr old had lots of fun with the various floats too.

The jacuzzi is supposed to be for over 12 (or was it over 16?) which we stuck to for the first few days but everyone else had their kids in so after a few days I let mine in when it was quiet - very nice! The bubbles are on for 15 mins then off for 15 mins.

There are no individual changing cubicles which was a bit tricky for me and two boys (just turned 6 and 9). I took the little one in with me but felt a bit awkward for the ladies getting changed. My 9 yr old managed in the mens but one day he was nervous (he's got ASD and is very anxious!) because the men's changing room was empty so I put him in the disabled toliet in the ladies but again felt awkward. Either family changing or individual changing rooms would be good for those of us with children of the opposite sex.

In the ladies changing room there's a sauna and a steam room which looked nice - couldn't go in as I had the children with me. Pool staff were friendly. You get your towels for swimming at the pool reception and put them in the towel bin afterwards.

The bar was lovely but expensive - lovely cocktails for the children with sweet kebabs on or flashy pirates / tinkerbell.

Breakfast was lovely - lots of selection. We were there for 7am most days and it wasn't busy. We went a couple of times for 10 - 10.30 and there was a small queue but only 5 or so minutes.

The hotel was very clean. Room service was quick - we spent 7 euros on a tea and coffee pack a few times. It comes with a kettle, cups, biscuits and a selection of tea, coffee, decaf coffee, and other herbal tea bags. And a jug of milk and some long life milk. Next time I will take my own tea bags, little milk cartons and coffee however and save some money. The kettle on it's own is free.

I stayed in HNY for the first time this sep 21-26th!..

I have to say when I first went into the lobby I was surprised at how dark and small it was. For the second most expensive hotel I was expecting it to be bigger, however it was still really nice..

From the lobby you can see the New york city bar...

Check in went smoothly, the only thing was as we had arrived before 3:00pm our room was not ready which I find odd since it's such a large hotel and yet I have never had to wait for my room in the Santa fe.
During this time you can take your bags to the luggage desk beside check-in and you recieve a ticket. When you return to collect your room key, you hand the girl at reception the ticket and as you go on up to your room a bell-boy type worker will deliver your cases.
NB* This usually will involve a tip and actually they took about 10-15minutes to deliver our cases which I would have rather wheeled them myself.

The staff where all friendly though I must say.

Unfortunately we got a room that was not lake side and did not have a good view...

S1052506.jpg

I was kind of disappointed as we were staying for 5 nights 6 days but I didn't want to create a fuss so I just forgot about it.

The rooms were a good size with very comfortable beds, with the brilliant mickey duvets!....
S1052510.jpg

Large cupboards and NY art deco...
S1052509.jpg

S1052508.jpg

The bathroom was large with 2 sinks, a hairdryer (although I didn't find it very good as I would have long hair and it would have taken far to long to dry so I used my travel hairdryer)...
S1052511.jpg

S1052512.jpg

Towels were changed daily and the place was clean!

There was a mini bar however you are asked when checking in if you are going to use it and if you say no it just stays locked, which is what we did. There was also a small safe in the wardrope - when I say small though I do mean small - a laptop would not fit in this, it's probably approx 7x5 "- only really good for storing money, keys etc.

There was an information folder about the hotel, a small mini bar menu onto of the cupboard and a room service menu in various languages in the room. Room service is 24/7, however there isn't a great variety of food on it, breakfast can also be delivered to the room at a charge!

We went to breakfast one one of the mornings. They do the same breakfast as other hotels except they also offer bacon rashers, veal sausages and scrambled egg. I did not try this but my mum did and didn't like it. We were shown to the Manhatten restraunt for breakfast, however the Parkside dinner was also being used.

The shop at the hotel is pretty small but always quite busy too. I met one or two lovely staff members in here who i did pin trading with! I wish I had taken a photo of the shop!
There is also a fridge with drinks and milk etc to avail off.

I have to say the conceirge desk was also very good and friendly.:)

Location is everything with this hotel, being able to wake up in the morning and walk out to this view...
S1052454.jpg

and knowing you are so close to the parks and basically right in the villiage is fantastic! It's great not to have the hastle of shuttle buses! Plus you can always walk back to your room for a rest or to freshen up. We found it great in the evenings when the parks were closed and we were tired we could rest for a while and then head into the disney villiage to do some shopping!:goodvibes

I must say I really enjoyed my stay and after staying here and being so close to the magic I don't know if I could return to the other hotels or if I will have to make HNY my regular hotel!;)

Problems:
The main thing I found wasn't good was the amount of plug sockets avilable in the room, infact we only found 1!! I don't really understand this but thankfully we made do!
Also mum found the room quite warm.

S1052458.jpg

However out of 10 I would still give it 8 or 9 out of 10!

S1052455.jpg

Thought it worth a mention that the HNY Ice Rink has now been replaced with the greener option of an artificial one.
Apparently artificial ones are not as easy to skate on (not my own experience, have never skated in my life) but does mean that the rink will now be open all year. So no more GoKarts.

We stayed in Hotel New York 9th - 13th June 2010, we were a party of 2 adults and 1 child with a room on the second floor with two beds. Check in was a breeze only a few people at 11am, the staff on the desk were charming from the word go very polite and interacting with dd. As others have said this wouldn't cut it as a 4 star outside of Disney but it was lovely all the same. The room was nice, spacious, clean, had air con, a good hot shower, twin sinks and room safe which was free to use. I used the hairdryer and it was perfect (I have long hair which takes ages to dry), rooms were turned around nicely each day, fresh towels etc The staff at the hotel were lovely, the guy who checked us in remembered dd's name and would give her a little wave, in the small boutique they were really helpful and playful. Concierge was perfect, we requested a kettle and cups which were brought to the room without delay. We used the baggage drop after checking in at 11am, when we returned around 2:30pm the room was ready with our luggage waiting.

Breakfast was a dream, you were escorted to your table, which was nicely dressed with linen cloths etc identical buffet served in either Parkside Diner or Manhattan. It was a very relaxed affair no queue (we ate at different times each day and this remained the same) you could select which restaurant to eat in except on Saturday and Sunday breakfast was served in the convention centre, which again was very nice. Fabulous selection of food, range of kellogs cereals, range of yoghurts, fresh pastries, toast, selection of jams, chocolate spread, scramled eggs, bacon, veal sausages, fried potatoes, fruit salad, fresh fruit, apple/orange juice, chocolate milk, coffee and a nice range of herbal teas.

We didn't use room service but I'm sure the door hanger in the room stated breakfast could be ordered at a cost of 6E per person plus extras if you wanted pancakes etc which I thought was really reasonable.

There was a good selection of characters each day, the meet and greets were very well organised and not at all busy. We had some cocktails in the hotel bar one night which were made to perfection, the world cup had just started and the games were shown in the bar here.

We didn't dine in either of the restaurants and didn't get chance to use the pool but it looked good. Check out was very easy (by 11am) we used the baggage drop on the last day as we didn't leave the park until 5pm, which was again hassle free.

Despite it not being truly what you usually get with a 4 star the hotel I would definately recommend the hotel, the location is superb just at the edge of the village a 10 minute walk (if that) to the main park. This was the real advantage for me, having the ability to go back to the hotel easily. Also I think the hotel doesn't have as many rooms as others (somebody may correct me) which makes breakfast and generally using the space a very pleasant experience.

We stayed here again from 14th - 18th Feb 2011 and were very happy. Check in/out both very quick and easy, baggage drop is just at the end of reception, as before we dropped our baggage off on the first day and it was ready waiting in the room upon returning in the afternoon.

Breakfast was served in both the Parkside Diner and Manhattan each day, you can choose to eat in either which I think some people didn't realise as we walked past people waiting outside the Parkside Diner most day's :confused3 We ate in the Manhattan every day, which I prefer as it's much more spacious and relaxed.

All the staff were very friendly and on dd's birthday there was a large boquet of balloons with a birthday message waiting on the bed when we returned in the afternoon.

The character interaction was excellent with a good variety each day and never anymore than a two person wait. All staff were lovely, friendly and very accomodating. Our room was in Midtown near to the elevator's and if you can look past the car park can see the castle lol but never heard any noise at all.

Very happy with HNY again, the rooms are in good condition but feel that they could do with refurbishing them to keep inline with other hotels.

We loved it! Would stay again. No complains at all. Just wonderful. We got standard room. Basically, no view (tries), but I didn't care - I looked just one time to see and that's it. Probably wouldn't pay extra.

Check in was fine, we arrived earlier and room wasn't ready, but we were given tickets, left our bags and went to parks.

When we got back in the evening, I got room key. Our bags were already in our room. Great beds, but I hated the pillows.

We stayed here for the 4th time from Monday 25 July - Thursday 28 July 2011.

Again we reserved 2 rooms. I emailed dlp guest relations to request interconnecting and also phoned the hotel directly about 3 days before travel. I also requested that we have 2 beds in each room.

We checked in at about 12:30. Our rooms weren't ready, but the receptionist confirmed we had connecting rooms. We were given our park passes, tickets for our Paris trip that I'd reserved and asked to pick breakfast times within a 30 minute window. We were given a card for each day with the time on it. We never made it for the time we were given once, and the person taking them never even looked at the times. I noticed however that if you had this you did not need to show the Hotel Easypass.

Our rooms were ready just after 3pm and we were in the Brownstone area, above the restaurants. Rooms 3253 and 3255.

2011_0726Disney110026.jpg

I love the size of the rooms. The beds are comfy and there are extra pillows in the wardrobe. A small safe is also in the wardrobe, big enough for passports/phones etc.

The bathrooms are nice too - two sinks which is very handy for us:

2011_0726Disney110027.jpg

Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, soap and body moisturiser are provided and replenished each day. Plenty of towels, again nice new fluffy ones each day. There is also a hairdryer attached to the wall in the bathroom which was fine for me ( I have long thick hair) and plenty of space to get ready.

There is a mini-bar, which we did not use and remained locked throughout. If you want to use this you need to leave your credit card details at reception. The tv has the usual Disney channels which kept Lewis happy.

2011_0726Disney110028.jpg

Breakfast can be either in the Parkside Diner, which is an American style Diner (we also had a buffet dinner here, see restaurant reviews)

2011_0726Disney110167.jpg

Or in the Manhattan restaurant, which has a bit more space. There are stairs here however to get up and down to the buffet area.

2011_0729Disney110017.jpg

2011_0729Disney110020.jpg

The food is exactly the same in each of the restaurants. Usual continental stuff, rolls, croissants, fruit, cereal, toast, yoghurt, cold meats, fruit juices, tea, coffee etc. Also some hot items which are included in the price, but not mentioned anywhere - bacon, scrambled egg, sausages and potato fry things.

The characters meet every morning inside the lobby and alternate every 30 minutes, we saw Pluto and Goofy, but Mickey was there too one day and so was Launchpad.

2011_0729Disney110171.jpg

The swimming pool is lovely, with an outdoor area in the summer. Open this trip from 7am - 10pm. The water is deep all the way round, no shallow end. There is a small ankle deep splash pool and a jacuzzi. Lots of arm bands, floats etc for the kids. Only downside is that the changing room is quite small. Free towels at the entrance too.

This still remains our favourite hotel and the kids always pick this first. A great location and lovely spacious hotel :thumbsup2

Us again :wave2:

We stayed here for the 5th time from Sunday 6th - Wednesday 9th May 2012

I had emailed guest relations a few days before arrival to mention that it was Abbey's birthday on the day of arrival, and that we'd be quite late so hoped we'd still get a nice room.

We arrived at about 20:00 and checked in quickly. CM explained that the hotel was full tonight and suggested we take breakfast slots for each morning. We chose 9:30 for each morning, but no-one actually looked at the cards each day. We also didn't meet the slot times, but this wasn't a problem. Our room was in Midtown, room 7201.

We had a car park view, but on looking properly to the left, we had a perfect view of Space Mountain and the Castle, which meant we would watch Dreams in the evening :lovestruc

2012_0510Disney120165.jpg

There were lovely additions to the room. Goofy on the bed and beds turned down with chocolate coins. Turn down was done each night:

There was also a rose in the bathroom and a basket of complimentary items. The bathroom is a good size with double sinks, plenty of towel which are renewed each day and shampoo and shower gel. Also a good hairdryer.

2012_0510Disney120028.jpg

2012_0510Disney120026.jpg

A small safe is located in the wardrobe. This one had a key, but last year we had a digital one, so they are maybe in the process of updating these.

2012_0510Disney120021.jpg

A mini bar is available if want to use it, and TV with Disney channel UK and BBC world news. Ice bucket is also there, with ice available on most floors.

2012_0510Disney120360.jpg

Room service is available, but not a large selection. We ordered pizza one night and it was delivered within about 10 minutes, which we thought was good.

Breakfast is either in the Manhattan or the Parkside Diner. We normally just walk past the Parkside and go straight to end of the corridor for the Manhattan which is lovely, and easier when getting up and down for buffets. We've never had to wait more than a couple of minutes to be shown to a table.

2012_0510Disney120082.jpg

2012_0510Disney120083.jpg

We did eat in the Convention centre on 2 mornings, possibly because it was busy. Food was the same as in the Manhattan, with hot items of scrambled egg, sausages, bacon and potato fries. Plenty of meats, yoghurt, breads, croissants etc.

2012_0510Disney120166.jpg

The hallway to the Convention centre is decorated like the NY subway:

We didn't use the pool on this visit, but have previously and enjoyed it. There is also a tennis court, hair salon, and small gym. A buffet dinner is available at the Parkside diner, which we didn't use this time but have a couple of times before and enjoyed.

Location of the hotel is great, just at the end of the Village. A stroll of about 10 minutes and you're at the gates to the Magic :lovestruc It's close enough to have EMH at the park and then go back for a later breakfast.

The CM's are all lovely here and very helpful. When we checked out and told them we were moving to The Dream Castle, they arranged to transfer our baggage as part of their service. We also registered our credit card and used the Hotel Easypass to pay for our larger purchases, meals etc. This means only one purchase on the credit card, and you can see a running total of what you've spent on the hotel TV system.

In conclusion, we really enjoyed our stay here again and I'm sure we'll be back :goodvibes

We were back here for the 7th time from Sunday 21 July - Wednesday 24 July 2013

We were originally given a room in Midtown, 3245. The room itself was lovely, with everything there should be. I'll say at this point that there is now free wi-fi throughout the hotel including the rooms!!

Iron and ironing board stored in the wardrobe

Small safe, big enough for passports/money etc

Big bathroom with double sinks - toiletries etc and loads of fluffy towels

Our view wasn't the best, but wasn't really an issue either

DH however asked at reception if we could get a different room and we were moved to Gramercy Park, 2104. This room was exactly the same, with the exception of dual aspect windows :rotfl2: One of the windows looked over the lake, but was obscured by trees, although we did see the balloon.

Housekeeping still very good with our room magically cleaned each day. Towels renewed, toiletries replaced. I called housekeeping after our first night to ask for extra pillows and they were delivered whilst we were out. Ice bucket and glasses are provided, ice machines on each floor of the hotel, usually near the lifts. There is also a mini bar available if you wish. TV with usual Disney channels, although we hardly used it. Plenty of storage in the wardrobe and drawer in the unit.

Breakfast for our trip was in the Conventions Centre. Both Parkside and Manhattan seemed to be closed for breakfast. I noticed that the NYC Bar was closed for refurbishment and that they were using Manhattan as a bar, so this is maybe why. Breakfast was lovely, plenty of choice with cereals/breads/rolls/croissants/yoghurt/fresh fruit/cold meat/cheese/selection of hot items including scrambled egg, bacon, sausages and potato. When checking in we were asked to pick time slots, but as per previous visits we didn't need to stick to these. No one bothered if we were early or later.

We used the swimming pool during our stay and enjoyed the outside section in the sun. Sun loungers were available to use and towels provided free of charge. Plenty of swimming aids for the kids too.

Characters are available to meet each morning in the lobby.

Another successful stay and I'm sure we'll be back again :)

And we're back again - Monday 2 - Wednesday 4 December 2013

We arrived at about 16:30 and check in was very quick and efficient. As we checked in the CM asked if we'd stayed before :rolleyes1 Yes we have! She was lovely and made a quick phone call before telling us that she had arranged breakfast for us in the Empire State Club  This is a special area on the 6th floor where you can eat breakfast in a small lounge with Disney characters. There's also no time slot to meet.

Our room was in Gramercy Park 3180. It's the same as we always have :)

View over towards the village and into a small garden area:

The room was in good condition and we love the size. Nothing has changed since our previous visit so i'll add some info about breakfast in the Empire State Club:

Use the lifts in the main area of the hotel, beside the restaurants and press the 'Empire State Club' button which takes you to the 6th floor.

Special passes given to allow you access to the lounge:

The food is the same as in the restaurants downstairs, as per my previous reviews. I only noticed some small differences, salmon and pancakes and I think a kind of quiche. Characters joined us on the first morning when the room was quite busy:

On the second morning we didn't see any characters, but we were the only ones in the room so maybe that's why:

I had priced up Empire State Club before we went and it was almost double the cost. To be honest, I don't think I would pay for the upgrade at this time of year. The other extras would be VIP fastpasses and access to the lounge during the day for soft drinks/snacks. If it was high season it might be worth it but at this time of year we didn't have any need for fastpasses or to go back to the hotel during the day.

As it was Christmas season the hotel was decorated beautifully :santa:

And outside too

Pictures as always in the lobby each morning:

And the traditional NY taxi

Once again another wonderful stay here. I hear that once the NPB is finished with the refurb that the HNY is next. I suppose if I'm being very picky there was a wee bit of discoloured paint in the bathroom but nothing that in any way would spoil our holiday. We still love this hotel for it's location, space and general feeling. I'm sure we will be back :wizard:

Forgot to add these aerial views of HNY from Panoramagique

The pool and tennis court

Here we are again - Sunday 12 October - Thursday 16 October 2014

Midtown - 8215 and 8217

Checked in late, around 8pm and were attended to quickly. We had arrived by taxi and our bags were loaded in a trolley and the bell boy gave us a ticket to give to our receptionist at check in, so that our bags would be taken directly to our rooms. We had two rooms booked, 5 of us in our party.

Receptionist was very good, advised that the only breakfast slot he had left was for 10.30 but that it was ok to go whenever. We never had any problems eating outwith the time slot, so they definitely do not strictly adhere to this.

I had asked for inter-connecting rooms (never guaranteed) and two double beds in each room. We went straight to the park after check in so were not back in the room until much later, around 10pm. Our bags were waiting for us in the room. We had the connecting rooms but one of the rooms had a large king size bed and sofa bed. Initially we were not very happy with having to muck around with a sofa bed for our 10 year old, but actually it turned out to be ok and we found the extra space and seating area useful. It was really easy to fold and un-fold and the bedding was already in place.

The tv's had been updated to new flat screens:

And the safe was bigger too - big enough for a 15" laptop I think. We had a camcorder, tablet and various other things with bags of room left over too.

Our rooms were in Midtown, the central part of the hotel on the 8th floor. Fantastic view of the castle

Our rooms were cleaned with fresh towels each day to perfection. Fantastic service as always. Breakfast was good too, with new addition of pancakes and maple syrup - mmmmm - various pastries etc - very good selection :thumbsup2

We had drinks in the New York City Bar one evening - good service again and a small snack dish with nuts/olives/doritos brought to the table with the drinks. Good options for kids too.

For the moment character meets still going on in the lobby each morning. We noticed Minnie, Launchpad, Goofy and Pluto

Another wonderful visit at the Hotel New York. I wonder what will happen to the lovely Empire State lamps when they start the refurb.....

Have renovations began at this hotel? We are planning a stay following the 12 night Norwegian/Iceland/Scotland cruise. Trying to decide which resort for this once in a lifetime trip! Any help and opinions would be appreciated.

Have renovations began at this hotel? We are planning a stay following the 12 night Norwegian/Iceland/Scotland cruise. Trying to decide which resort for this once in a lifetime trip! Any help and opinions would be appreciated.

It is my understanding the renovations will not start until the Newport Bay is finished plus they will be shutting the HNY to do the renovations

We stayed here again for the 9th time from Sunday 4th October - Thursday 8th October 2015

Midtown 4216

We checked in at around 8pm and check in was very quiet. We arrived by taxi and as always our bags were taken by the bell boy and transferred to our room. I love this as it means that once you've checked in and given park tickets, you can go straight to the park and not worry about spending time going to your room etc.

The receptionist was very nice and asked us if we'd been to the Hotel New York before :rotfl2:I asked him if we could please have a room in Midtown as we liked the central area. He went off to ask someone else and a lady came out. She too was very nice and asked why we liked Midtown. I told her I like to be central and don't mind a car park view. She said 'ok' and we were allocated room 4216 in Midtown.

We were given all our half board and pause gourmande vouchers, which he kindly clipped together in bundles for each day so that we didn't just have reams of paper.

Breakfast times have changed to 7 - 10.30 instead of 11.00. We were not asked to pick breakfast slots either. Maybe because it was a quiet week?

The room turned out to be a lovely Plaza view room, overlooking what used to be the ice-rink and Lake Disney. It was stunning view, however I still wouldn't pay the extra 100E or so that is normally charged just for a nice view for a few days, but I do like Midtown if we don't intend to use the swimming pool. Gramercy park is better if using the pool as it's so much nearer.

The room itself was very nice, very well cleaned and very welcoming - just as it always is. We had the old tv and small safe though, safe just big enough for passports/money etc.

P1040791 (640x480).jpg

P1040790 (640x480).jpg

I didn't take any photos of the bathroom this time but they're exactly the same as previously. Shower looks a little dated but the water pressure is fantastic, even my DH commented that he didn't want to get out!

Our room was always cleaned beautifully each day by the time we returned, plenty of clean towels and beds made perfectly. We had a problem with toilet the first night, it didn't flush. I called housekeeping and a maintenance man was with us in about 10 minutes. He fixed it very quickly. I also called housekeeping one night to have a kettle delivered and again it was with us in about 10 minutes. Very good service as always :thumbsup2

Free wi-fi worked fantastically from our room.

Air conditioning worked very well, we found room a tad hot for us so needed this on.

Mini-bar available if you want it - leave credit card details at check in.

Room service available - didn't take a photo of it but menu card looks same as one I posted previously.

View from our room

P1040806 (640x480).jpg

Breakfast each morning was in the Manhattan. Lovely choice of the usual continental things, cereal, fruit, yoghurt, various pastries - the croissants are amazing! Hot items include bacon, sausages, scrambled egg, potato bits and warm pancakes and syrup...mmmm.

P1040914 (640x480).jpg P1050092 (480x640).jpg

We didn't eat in the Parkside Diner for breakfast but the food is exactly the same as the Manhattan. But we did have a meal in the Parkside Diner on our first night and really enjoyed it. I'll put a review on the restaurant thread separately.

The hotel boutique is small but very nice and we went in there each night to stock up on juice and pick up our purchases from the park which are available after 8pm each night.

P1050094 (640x480).jpg

No characters any more in the lobby in the morning, but I've heard that during winter they may return....

P1050371 (640x480).jpg

Overall another wonderful stay at HNY. Yes, it probably does need a wee refurb but is certainly isn't shabby in any way - possibly if I was to be picky it's the technology that I'd like updated, a nicer tv with a better selection of channels and the bigger, digital safes in every room. I'm sure the refurb will deliver on some of this. I can never bring myself to try the other hotels around the lake as the price difference between them all is not actually that much and the location of HNY is fantastic. I'm still thrilled when I walk into the Hotel New York and smell that wonderful smell that makes me feel like I'm home! I'm sure we'll be back :goodvibes

We are back again for the 10th time  Tuesday 18 - Thursday 20 October 2016

We checked in around 16:15 and were seen to quickly by reception. Our reservation was found quickly, this time we have purchased Annual Passes so had no tickets to collect. We weren't given breakfast slots this time so could go any time between 7 and 10:30.

Our room was a terrace room, Gramercy Park 185. I'd emailed the hotel prior to arrival to mention we were visiting to celebrate by birthday and we were welcomed in our room by some lovely balloons and birthday card.

The room was immaculate, and still in good condition. The bathroom was well stocked with toiletries, lovely fluffy towels and plenty of space. Hairdryer attached to wall was good too. The room was cleaned to perfection each day with towels and toiletries re-stocked.

We had a nice new flatscreen tv but still the old style small safe. Glasses and ice bucket (which ds filled up each evening from the ice machine in the corridor) mini bar available if required and plenty of storage in the wardrobe. There were also two robes hanging up and iron/ironing board. I called housekeeping to request a kettle and it was delivered to the room without charge. Free wi-fi worked perfectly.

We did have an issue with heating this time, in that it was a bit cold. Despite turning up the temperature we couldn't get any heat. Within minutes of reporting the issue we had maintenance at the room. It couldn't be fixed but were provided with a heater. If it hadn't been our last night or we'd had small children with us then I've have asked for another room, but as we were leaving early the next morning it didn't seem worth bothering.

Terrace rooms have doors that lead onto a small patio. They've now added chairs and small table which we hadn't had previously in a terrace room. Our room was in a great location, right near the Village which was so handy when ds and I nipped out for EMH - no need to go all through the hotel. There's no method of locking from the outside though so someone needs to be in the room to lock up behind you.

Our room was right on a corner so we had two sets of windows/doors - I'd love this room during the summer.

Breakfast was in the Parkside Diner this time but also in Manhattan and the New York City bar so I think the hotel must have been busy. Our room rate included breakfast but this is no more - now need to purchase either a breakfast package or meal plan to have it included. As much as I do enjoy the breakfast, I don't think I'd pay extra for it and would rather grab something from the park or Village to save on time. I've not taken photos this time as the food is exactly the same as previous reviews.

The shop is small but well stocked and staff are always lovely at this hotel. They foyer is nice too.

I've heard that characters will be back doing meets in the hotel from March 2017 so it'll be nice to see them here again.

I've heard that the refurb is scheduled towards the end of 2018 and yes, the rooms could do with some updates in terms of a more modern decoration but I haven't seen the peeling wallpaper that I've read of in some reports. I read one review that mentioned that the hotel was a complete shambles, a disgrace and should be closed immediately......but then I've also read reports of the Disneyland Hotel being compared to a Travelodge so I suppose we're all different....

We continue to choose this hotel for location, size of rooms, little things such as an ice bucket, excellent housekeeping, room service if we feel like it and friendly staff. There's a good pool (we only use during summer) tennis courts and it's close enough to escape to during the day if you need a rest from the frenzy of the parks. I'm sure we'll be back again :goodvibes
