Edited this thread to avoid confusion, we are now just planning our Illuminations Dessert Party - just a week and a half away now!

If interested in joining us for a private Illuminations Dessert party on June 18th there is still room but you need to let me know quick!

Scroll to the end of the thread for more details of the menu, prices, venue etc and then just contact me if you want to join in the fun :)

Thanks Penny - email sent!!

We were not planning a trip for June next year - but this sound so great replanning may be in order - can't wait to hear more information!
Thanks for all your hard work,
Claire

Hey everyone!

Thanks for the emails so far - one thing that's coming up with regularity that I need to address though is that the backstage tours are adult only. Sorry about that, not my decision - Disney don't allow minors backstage as they don't want them to 'lose the magic' too soon.

For anyone who's curious, the Illuminations Dessert Party is the runaway winner so far :)

Ps. Claire, hope you can make it - always happy to welcome a fellow Brit!

I'm going to start planning... I'd love to be there!!!
WooHoo!!!

:wave2: princess:

Sounds great Penny - e-mail sent!

Sounds like a lot of fun!! Sent our info on to you! Can't wait to hear more.

Me again!

First of all, thanks everyone who has sent emails so far...not just because you're all interested in the events which is of course a good thing, but for all the nice words of encouragement and offers of help - I can assure you it's very much appreciated :)

Just to let you know I've just updated this original post a little bit - first of all to add the 2 links to the events we have in the works so far...I can't believe I didn't think to add those originally so everyone would be able to see exactly what I was talking about, duh! and also to add CM option to the last question - so great to see some CM's interested in this too :) :) :)

As you can probably guess I am trying to arm myself with as much leverage as possible for when I talk to Disney - it may prove useful, it may come to nothing - but I'm certainly going to give it a try!

I'm still waiting for some answers from my rep regards to some of the questions that have come up so far - please be patient with me/her. I basically slammed her with a list of stuff as long as my arm so it's going to take a while, especially as she'll have to talk to all the different teams that run the events (each park has it's own division for this sort of thing and each of them do things a little differently!).

Hope to get something back soon though, I'll keep you all posted when I do!

Bye for now

Is the after hours party at one of the parks still an option? That sounds so great!
DJ

No, the important thing that counts is the email - as long as that's been sent (and you received the auto-response) then it's fine.

Response so far has honestly been really great but I'm still short on numbers compared to when I originally added up all the yes's and maybe's from the initial announcement and I don't want to 'lose' anyone just because they don't visit the site every day or can't find a thread on a fast moving board. Besides, I'm just plain greedy - I want to get as many people involved as possible because it potentially makes a lot of things cheaper (or at the very least means we can have more bang for our buck!) - so everyone who may be interested...register now and make this Brit a happy one ;)

DJ - right now I'm concentrating on the AC and Dessert Party first because those are two of the easiest events. I have still been working on the details for an after park closing event though, fear not - it's just a lot more complicated...I hope to get an idea out to everyone very soon and we'll see if it flies from there :)

I didn't see this thread until you posted a link on one of your other threads. Maybe a lot of people still don't realize it is here.

DJ

DJ - that's exactly what I am thinking...I know you were extremely interested in this, so it figures that if you didn't see this thread - then a number of other people may not have either!

I'm hoping to pick up a few of the 'weekend crowd' too now :)

Everyone please note: I have removed the HM movie set dinner from the options - my rep has confirmed that this attraction is indeed currently in re-hab and they are uncertain when it will become available again.

I'm obviously very disappointed about this news - judging from the registrations I've gotten so far I know a lot of other people will be too - lots of you were interested in this event! BUT, I see no point in organizing something that may have to be cancelled or moved later on - if it re-opens before say March or April then we can re-visit the possibility of doing it again then. In the meantime I'll start sniffing around for another 'interesting' place for dinner as an alternative.

Sorry guys!

I signed us up the first day you posted this thread, and haven't received an auto response. Should I try again? What does the response look like? Does it appear the same as responses to subscribed threads? TIA :)

tarheelmjfan - I see you are AOL which means the autoresponse was most likely sucked up in your SPAM filter. I have several emails from an AOL account dated the 6th so you are most likely one of those but if you want to send another just to be safe (including your DIS name in it) then I will double check I have you on the list :) Hopefully we won't have problems with regular mails and your spam filter though :o

Oh, and the autoresponse just says something like "thanks for mailing about Project X, we got your mail, the account's just for admin, do not send questions here..." yadda, yadda. Nothing exciting ;)

Penny,
(Did I mention how excited I am about this?) I am curious about the backstage tours... I think it would be really fun to do some/one with people who are dis'ers. Are we talking about the backstage tours offered by Disney regularly? Sorry if this is posted somewhere but I missed it.
Thanks,
Dana

Since the HH dinner is out, I was wondering if it is possible to get a group discount on the Hoop Dee Doo Review at Fort Wilderness (if there were enough interested--perhaps on Saturday night since we are doing AC on Friday and the Illuminations event on Sunday). I know that DVC members get a discount at the late showing, but it would be nice to get a discount at an earlier showing (so the kids won't be up so long).

Just an idea since the HH dinner isn't going to be a go. We have been to the HDDR once and loved it; I wouldn't mind going again.

DJ

Hey Dana

Yes, I think you may have mentioned you were excited before ;)

I've now posted the limited details I have of the backstage tours available to us - you can check them out here :)

DJ - I'm just investigating our other dining options first to see if there's anything feasible for a group our size but still at a decent price. I can ask about Hoop Dee Doo...but obviously my first instinct is to try and get something that can't be done ordinarily...but that's not to say that we can't look in to doing both as not everyone will want to do all the same things anyhow :) It does however take a bit of time going back and forth to iron out all the details.

I understand Penny. I was just 'brainstorming'. We have seen the HDDR, so it would be alot more fun to do something different that we couldn't normally do. I hope this isn't driving you crazy. You really started something here!
DJ

LOL! I know I've started something here. It's not driving me crazy yet though and everyone feel free to brainstorm - the more ideas the better!

HDDR was one of the things the Disney rep has brought up in the past but I don't recall any mention of discounts - just that it was a good place for a large group to dine at. When I get home later I'll check my notes again :)
