It was $900 more to choose our own Oceanview on Deck 2, $1,000 for Deck 5. So we are okay. We are on the boat and that is what matters to us. VGT or picking a verandah room would have been at least + $4k more.

Was hoping that today was the day to get the assignment. The cruise was not even on the Disney website yesterday. There was a lot of verandah availability when we booked, but seems like lots of folks took advantage of the various guaranteed verandah room rates. So excited to meet this new ship!
