Getting stuck on a ride post

me too Mikie...I was not a happy camper walking over the race cars...and trying not to look down...looking ahead so to watch the cast members that were letting us out...

I got stuck on IJATD right at the part where the snake attacks the vehicle. We sat there for about 20 min as they tried to restart the attraction, then all the lights came on and they said an CM will be by to escort everyone off the ride. It took another 10 min before the CM got to us, they had to unload each vehicle before they got to us (one at a time) and created a single file line of guest. We got to walk the rest of the ride follwing the CM as they unloaded the rest of the guest from the vehicles along the way.

Not to spoil the Disney magic for some but it was really neat to see how unimpressive the attraction is with all the lights turned on. Along the way we saw wall lockers, bags of trash and equipment that you never see when the ride is working. Disney is great at illusion because I would have never known all that was there if the attraction didn't break down. Now when I go on a ride I try to look for things on an attraction that are not supposed to be seen but I can never see anything.

I have been on other attractions that have broken down but nothing worth mentioning as that.

My favorite thing about evacuations is that if it happens before the ride photo spot, you get a picture of your car empty in photopass when it finally makes it past :)

I've had my fair share or evacuations and almost evacuations. many rides appear to have a time limit to getting a ride going again before they are required to just evacuate everyone and let them do other things..

Splash: OMG the loop of music. the walk around back is fun... not a fast evacuation. It was late at night, everyone didn't want the fastpasses so we got all the extras when people kept saying we can't use them, give it to them! it was the last bend before the drop. I've done this a few times..

Kali: I have been stuck on kali so many times I stopped trying to ride it. It took 3 years and 6 trips to actually get to ride it.. The worse was a day with overcast.. We just get onto the ride and was maybe an inch from leaving the start and into the water. you could feel the raft was at the balancing point and we kept rocking side to side like it wanted to go in.. They had to inspect a problem and stop the ride and then it happen.. the worst rain I've ever seen at WDW and we were strapped in and couldn't leave.. being at the start, we got evacuated first but it was still 20 minutes in pooring rain.. the second we got off, it stopped raining.. they handed up piles of fast passes for that one. people actually on the ride had it worse since they had to evactuate by foot, even if they were visible from the unload spot..

TSMM. things fall on the track a lot and get run over.. 20 minute wait at the unload spot but not close enough to actually step off.. they had to close the ride to lift the car up to get the bag that flew out of someones car so everyone had to walk off.

Haunted Mansion. Not actually on the ride but standing in line. I will never ever forget the heat standing by the graves up against the black fence. Trying to decide if the ride would start up or we should leave the line. Sooooo hot!

While I'd love to have that story to tell, I'm pretty sure they'd have to bring me a pillow and a blanket because I'd sooner sleep on the ride than get off at the TOP of anything. I LOVE that ride, but I'm afraid of heights and I'm not getting off at the TOP of anything!

It really wasn't bad at all. At the top of Everest you can't really see how high up you are. Stairs are right next to the track so we just stepped out, followed CMs to the staircase. Most of the way down was just like your typical parking garage staircase. It wasn't until we got near the bottom that you could see the interior of the mountain and the tracks around you.

A couple years ago, our kids got stuck at the top of EE because some idiot jumped the fence to get his shirt. They had to walk down inside the mountain with the lights on. I was envious, I would have loved to seen the inside of EE with the lights on.

Trapped on Buzz Lightyear. Luckily we had just finished in the scoring areas and were near the exit. But, we did have to wait a long for them to come get us...maybe 20 minutes. We did get FP tickets to use.

BTMRR Evacuation. Going up the inside hill towards the end.

They said any cell phones out would be confiscated.

And we could see why. Terrible mess under that mountain. Actually seemed kinda dangerous to walk through even.

Lots of water dripping and mud and junk everywhere, tools etc. Really a long cumbersome walk and very weird.

Similar to a cave tour, and a messy one at that.

We were on Pirates once when the sound cut off and the lights went on. Boat kept moving though. Pretty cool to see Pirates with the lights on.
Got stuck on Thunder Mountain with my 4 year old. CMs came and helped us out of the ride vehicle. I told DD it was an adventure. She thought it was fun. LOL

Both of ours were at Disneyland last August. One was TSMM, we weren't very far into the ridea so it was a quick escort out with anytime fast passes except for RSS. The other was Haunted Mansion just before you board the doom buggies. Got to walk up and out through a door in the cemetery. That was pretty cool.

We were evacuated off of Pooh a few years ago. Our honeypot stopped in a doorway, and there was no clearance for us to get out, so they had to "jump start" our vehicle to push it forward. Then, a CM brought us a stool and helped us down. We were the farthest back in the ride, so we stopped along the way at each honeypot to collect all the guests and then followed the CM like she was the Pied Piper. We got a handful of FPs that were good all week, so it was actually good. And it was cool to see what the ride looked like with the lights on. Everything looks nice in the dark, but in the light, it's a mess of cords and bad paint. They did ask us not to take pictures, which bummed out DH, but it was kind of a fun experience.

Most exciting for us was Everest a few years ago. Ride stopped when we were at the very top before it goes backwards. Only stuck for 15 minutes before we got evacuated, and we were lucky enough to be in the shade so it wasn't bad at all. Got to walk down the stairs inside the mountain which was pretty cool.

Last trip to Disneyland two weeks ago, got evacuated from Pinocchio ride, it doesn't look very good with all the lights on. Then Space Mountain the ride stopped just after we sat down and pulled forward. They allowed us to stay in our seats, ride was down for 15 minutes due to a "Code V".

What is a code V? Vomit?
Thanks

I've been stuck on a few rides at WDW, but I don't recall being evacuated from any. We were probably stuck for the longest on PotC at the scene with the dog holding the keys to the jail. I think the boat was overloaded, bc they had to bring out a long metal rod to dislodge us.

Last month at DLR, we were evacuated from two rides on the same day. First, DH and I had to be walked off of Grizzly River Run right before the first incline. We sat in the inner tube maybe 10-15 minutes before they evacuated us.

Later that same day, DD and I got stuck on Splash right under the vultures for about 5 minutes. Then we got stuck again right before the end of the ride. There were two college-aged boys in our boat with us. A CM came by maybe 5 minutes after the boat stopped and told us to wait there. A couple minutes after she left, and boys apparently decided they'd had enough and bailed - they left through the closest door (asked us if we want to join them, but we declined). The CM came back (along with a few guests) a couple minutes later, and wasn't thrilled that the college boys had left. We left through the same door the boys had, which led to a backstage area. We didn't see them, but I honestly don't know how they would've found their way out of that backstage area without quite a bit of wandering (it was also after dark).

We got stuck on pirates during MNSSHP. We were stuck for about an hour. Music turned off, lights on. We were stuck right in front of Jack with the treasure. The boat in front of us was practically at the unloading part but they wouldn't let them off. We missed the halloween fireworks because of being stuck. Could hear them. They gave us fast passes to use but this was our last night so we gave them away on the bus. They closed pirates for the rest of the night.

Yes, we were told that it wasn't a mechanical problem, but that someone had lost their lunch in the tunnel near the end. Required wiping up all the vomit and spraying everything down and then waiting until the smell dissipated. We were given the option of staying seated in the ride vehicle, or getting out and waiting at the front of the line.

At Disneyland. Stuck on Haunted Mansion where the carts are tilted and sound echos...next to a giggling cart full of 4 tween girls. Who sat screaming at the top of their lungs for 20 minutes...they were trying to out scream each other. It was so bad that other cars on the track started yelling at them to shut up.

Last year I had to be evacuated from Big Thunder. We were getting ready to go up the second lift hill when everything just stopped. Almost immediately they said that a cast member will be coming around to evacuate us from the ride. Wishes then began and I was able to watch it from the ride. Because I knew we were not going to be moving anytime soon, I took out my cell phone and was able to snap photos of the fireworks as we waited to be escorted out.

Our train was the last to be unloaded, and we had to wait 15-20 mins for a cast member to help us out. We had to walk along the tracks, then underneath the structure of the mountain, and then up into the loading station. Being the Disney geek that I am, I absolutely loved it. I was able to get an up close look at one of my favorite attractions. Walking into the structure of the mountain was really cool. We were not allowed to take any pictures during our "tour." Once we were at the exit a cast member handed all of us a fastpass that could be used on any of the E ticket rides (I forget the list off hand) at anytime at MK.

My wife decided not to ride and was worried sick about me, but I would not change it for anything. It was awesome!

Also stopped on People Mover. I thought it was fun! We got 2 fast passes for our trouble and it really wasn't a big deal. Now....walking back along the track...that was adventurous!

Ours was about 5 years ago, was it still a huge mess? I think we even walked on some boards they laid down in the mud, and there was a really weird hair pin turn we had to maneuver around. Kind of a makeshift workbench, empty pails etc.

Oddly interesting like you say though.

I'm curious... I see these comments on being stuck 20, 30, 60 minutes... what would they do in the event that a ride stopped and a child seriously started freaking out, as in anxiety-panic attack? My son would absolutely LOSE it, and I mean he'd be trying to jump overboard if he got stuck in the dark. There is NO way he could sit there 20 or 30+ minutes waiting to be evacuated.
