As I headed over to the Germany pavilion, I skipped over the Italy area. I wandered through the shops, taking several photos.
First I went into Kunstarbeit in Kristall, which translates "Artwork in Crystal", or "Artwork in Glass".
I loved this one - a rack loaded with tiaras - and not those cheap plastic ones sold at other theme park souvenir shops. Only at Disney!
I then went to the Weinkeller, or Wine Seller:
Chocolates filled with Asbach liquer:
Wine pours:
Glühwein (roughly, "glow-wine," from the hot irons once used for mulling), or seasonal mulling wine:
At 4:30 PM, I checked in at the podium for my meal at the Biergarten, and they handed me a buzzer, and 10 minutes later I was called and led to a table, along with 6 other people, 2 young couples from Ohio, and a widow and her boyfriend, who had been stationed in Germany during the 1950s. I did not get any pictures of the food, because the lighting was very dim and I felt self-conscious about taking food pictures because the rest of the people at the table were relative Disney neophytes.
I will try to recall all the food there was, but most of it can be looked up on Allears.net if I forget anything. There was sauerbraten, various cold wursts, beef rolade, spaetzle, red cabbage, roast chicken, a carvery, and various rolls. For dessert, there was rotegritze, which is a berry dessert with vanilla syrup, and apple strudel, as well as a couple of other things I didn't try because I was too full and did not want to fall asleep at the candlelight processional.
I did, however, take some pictures of the entertainment when it began. We weren't ideally situated to watch it, but I got up and went up to a vacant table near the center of the action and snapped off a few shots:
I had a pass to the 6:45 showing of the candlelight processional, but I was told to get on line at 6:00 so I wouldn't be too far to the back of the line. I had some time, so I decided to get in another character meet.
