Disney's WILDERNESS LODGE Information & Questions

So I just switched my WL reservation in November over to the Contemporary. I've never stayed there before so it'll be nice to try something new but my heart hurt a little bit making that call. :(

DH & I stayed at the CR for the first time this past Dec and we really liked it. We love the WL (especially during the holidays) and while I didn't go into the CR thinking I wouldn't like it, I didn't expect to love it as much as I did. WL will always be my favorite during the holidays, but we did have a great time at the CR. Hope you have a great trip :).

I figured I better address our reservation issue since general reservations are opening up tomorrow. My call answerer (don't know what else to call her) pleasantly informed me that my only option with price protection was a Boardwalk standard view, since that was the first available option at a Deluxe resort with our dates. When I pointed out that both Copper Creek and Boulder Ridge had studios available at less than the Boardwalk, she was more than willing to book me into either of those. I ended up with a 1 bedrm at BR for my husband's preference, for which I have to pay the difference--my choice. Having worked in a retail environment for most of my adult career, including owning my own retail store for 13 years, the lack of empathy for the situation we are all finding ourselves in astounded me. Yes--I know that this not your fault and you are doing the best you can to keep your business viable and your staff and customers safe, but I am the one paying, and a little consideration of the fact that I am still supporting your said business under these circumstances would be nice. If I wanted to potentially look at a parking lot than that is what I originally have booked; please don't act like you are doing me a favor by offering me that view at a different resort, even if it costs more.

Has anyone got any pictures of what a 1 or 2 bed villa looks like with the sofa bed made up? I'm trying to get an idea of space. Thanks! :)

I don’t have a picture but we stay in a 1 bedroom every summer. When the bed out you have about a foot of space (in front of the tv) and about 2 feet on the left side(by the island ) and right (by the drapes / phone / nightstand). It does get a little tight when it’s open. We still had room to keep one piece of luggage on the luggage stand (on the right by the drapes) even when open.

For those that have October 2020 reservations, did Disney contact you about moving resorts or did you have to contact them?

We have a reservation for a week in a one bedroom in Copper Canyon. Are they moving people from the villas?

Just add to what @Cajun23 posted above about being moved to CCV. Both DVCs at the WL are open CCV, BRV, and the Cabins. Only the regular resort hotel rooms are closed at this time and until further notice.

We were in a room in the Wilderness Lodge part of the resort. We were moved to CC 1 bedroom villa. The person had asked if people were starting to get moved from the Villas. Being that we where just moved to CC, I wouldn't think that they are move guest out of CC.

After checking the WDW website numerous times per day for several weeks, a studio popped up as available at Boulder Ridge for my dates in December. I was originally booked at the WL in a courtyard view room but was moved to the Poly. I am incredibly happy that I'm returning to the Lodge again this December! I was not able to change the reservation online so needed to call in. The CM could not locate the studio as available nor could guest services. I waited about 10 minutes and logged back onto the website and the studio was still showing as available. So I made a separate reservation then called to cancel the Poly reservation. :cool1:

I've never stayed a Boulder Ridge. Does anyone have any suggestions for preferred room locations or views?

following! We are DVC members and as a member we can also book DVC deluxe villa rooms on cash with a discount. I ended up adding 2 nights to our November 2020 jambo trip, and boulder ridge and copper creek studios were available for me to book on cash. Our home resort is copper creek so I picked boulder ridge cause I love that section of the lodge.

Hi all. How crowded does it seem at WL with only CCV and BRV open? We are slated for a week at VGF, after the entire resort is open, and are thinking of switching to CCV if it’s easier to socially distance there.

But if I can go straight to our room, do you still still go thru the main lobby or BRV in a separate building.
BRV is a separate building from the main lodge, but connected to it by a covered walkway. It's closer to the bus stop than the main lodge. If you park in the lot, you go towards the right (facing the main building) and the villas will be towards the right. If you arrive by DME, you can either walk through the lodge towards the arcade to get to the villas or you can turn to the right before you enter the lodge building and walk along the front of the building towards the villas.

Thank you! Another quick question, do they bell service carts available for personal use?

The walkway by the buses leads up to the BRV entrance. The main building is not necessary to enter.
However FOR ME.........I love walking thru the entrance and feeling welcomed home.
So next week we are entering the main building turning right and exiting past the gift shop out the doors to the pathway of BRV. Can't wait!!!!!!

My email stated Bell Cast members will be available to take your luggage to the room but the guests must be there in the room already to receive them
Also it said no escort to your room, bell boys are for the luggage not guests. (keeping strict guidelines with less contact I am sure)
Personally.....I am making sure all my things are on rollers so as to not need help with my things.
