Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2023 Edition

We are in EPCOT today and it is crazy! They were no longer selling tickets when we got here at 11. Most of the rides are fluctuating between 90 and 200 minutes. We waited in the Moana virtual queue for about 2 hours and then the actual queue for almost another hour.
Wow, it's supposed to be slow season! We were at Universal this weekend finishing off our APs. Wait times at IoA were on the low side today, for many we wouldn't have needed our express pass.

Yeah, I'm just learning from my S. FL family that schools are off Monday down there.

A blogger in AZ I follow, her kids already have fall break this week. Imagine they aren't the only one's given some go back early Aug. Our districts haven't even been in school a month. School schedules are all over the place now.

But it also cleary wasn't expected since MK added an hour yesterday day off. Been awhile since I've seen that happen.

Man I hope it isn’t like this next weekend. We’re planning to go next Sunday. We won’t be waiting an hour for Moana

What holiday is behind this 3-day weekend?
I know when I was living in MA during elementary school we had the Jewish High Holidays off in our district (Yom Kippur is tonight/tomorrow) living in FL from middle school - present I had some teachers who would treat me missing those days unexcused absences and I actually lost out on being hired for a job because they weren’t gonna let me take those days off

Ahsoka, The Muppets, 9 More New Disney PhotoPass Ops at Walt Disney World

It’s not often that I can chat new photo ops for Ahsoka, The Muppets, “Encanto,” the Haunted Mansion, and Tinker Bell all at once, but at Walt Disney World Resort, Disney PhotoPass Service just launched new experiences featuring those favorites and many more!
Between celebrating special events and dreaming up brand new experiences featuring the latest technology, the Disney PhotoPass team has been hard at work ensuring there are plenty of new and enhanced offerings for you to enjoy this fall and beyond. Check out some of my favorites below.

Ahsoka Magic Shots

To celebrate the release of Ahsoka on Disney+, Image Scanners in Batuu (known on our planet as photographers), have started capturing new Magic Shots featuring Chopper, a Loth Cat, and of course, Ahsoka.

There are many ways to celebrate Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month around Walt Disney World Resort (see all the details by clicking here). Disney PhotoPass photographers are joining the celebration by offering Magic Shots inspired by Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Encanto” and Disney/Pixar’s “Coco” at select locations.

Meeting Mirabel

One of your favorite members of the Familia Madrigal recently arrived at Magic Kingdom Park! As you meet Mirabel outside of Casa Madrigal, a Disney PhotoPass photographer will be there to capture all the smiles and hugs. It’s one of the many character greeting locations where Disney PhotoPass Service captures your encounter so you can stay in the moment.

At all four theme parks, photographers are offering new Halloween Magic Shots, including a seasonal twist on some of your year-round favorites, including Tinker Bell and balloons. And of course, there are many frightfully fun photos you can capture during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, which you can check out here.

Serpents and spiders, tail of a rat — call in the spirits … to the Disney PhotoPass Studio at Disney Springs! Our new Haunted Mansion backdrop is perfect for fun and festive fall photos. The studio is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and no reservations are required. Visiting after the fall? The studio is updated each season so there’s always a new photo op for you to enjoy.

The Muppets Magic Shot

At the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, the Brew-Wing Lab at the Odyssey features the culinary creations (and mishaps) of Muppet Labs. It’s the home of the famous Pickle Milkshake – need I say more? Nearby, you’ll find a new Magic Shot featuring Bunsen and Beaker showing off a few of their… uh, interesting dishes. Bon appétit!

Disney files permits for upcoming DVC Cabins at Fort Wilderness Resort

Permits have now been filed for work to begin on the new Disney Vacation Club Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort.

Disney announced earlier this year that the existing cabins will be converted into a new DVC property comprising 350 updated, environmentally friendly cabins.

The permit is assigned to an Orlando company that has previously done work for Disney on the All Star, Pop Century, and Yacht Club resort refurbishments.

The permit has a longer-than-usual expiration date of May 2025.

In announcing the new cabins, Disney Vacation Club said the design concepts offer a fresh take on the current cabin experience and are inspired by the resort's idyllic setting while paying homage to the resort's unique culture and heritage through the magic of Disney storytelling.

Each cabin will sleep up to six adults, including a bedroom, bathroom, living room, full kitchen, and private patio.

The planned cabins are part of a collection of improvement projects underway at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, including proposed pool and walking trail enhancements and the recently updated expanded dining experiences at Trail's End Restaurant.

The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort – A Disney Vacation Club Resort is planned to open at Walt Disney World in 2024. Disney says that additional information regarding project details, the start of sales, and rental bookings will be released later.

Anybody else beside me wonder how these new cabins will affect Treehouse occupancy?

I’m still so sad about this. We stay at the cabins every year and I’m worried we won’t be able to once they’re switched to DVC
