Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2023 Edition

Really?! That's the reason? Gee...
I drive around the central Florida area whenever I visit my sister and there are ads on the radio for Disney hiring lifeguards. I hear this ad almost every time I'm in the area. There used to be a flashing sign by the Disney cast member building near Disney Springs that they were hiring. Unsure if that's still up.

Disney doesn't have enough lifeguards to operate both water parks.

(VB rules though)
They could if they wanted. It's not much of a priority for them. Honestly, it makes sense. Why staff and deal with operations of 2 parks, when ppl. are still paying for the water park addon at the same cost but with only 1 park open. I'm sure they're advertising hiring and I'm sure they are to a degree, but it's clear having 2 water parks open hasn't been a priority for Disney since Covid.

Florida Resident 2-Day EPCOT and Animal Kingdom Ticket Offer Available

Florida Residents can now buy a Disney 2-Park Explorer Ticket - a special 2-day ticket that's valid for admission to EPCOT and Disney's Animal Kingdom for $159 plus tax.

This ticket is valid from August 1 to September 29, 2023 and can be used on consecutive or nonconsecutive days (subject to theme park reservation availability). There is a limit of one theme park per day for a total of 2 admissions on 2 separate days.

Water Park and Sports Option: $35 More Per Ticket, Plus Tax

You can purchase a Florida Resident Disney 2-Park Explorer Ticket that also includes the Water Park and Sports option for $35 more per ticket, plus tax. With this ticket and option, you can:

  • Visit EPCOT or Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park on 2 separate days with a theme park reservation
  • Visit a Disney water park, golf course or miniature golf course on 2 additional days (or enjoy them on the same day that you visit a Disney theme park)
*All tickets and options expire on September 29th, 2023.
If those two parks are of interest I think it's a really good deal. The add on makes is a nice short vacation. September looking to be slow ....................... I had it booked and had to cancel (first grandbaby due to arrive).

While I am glad WDW is finally getting him, I still think it is a very dumb and inaccurate place to put him.
I can't tell you how many times I have ridden that ride... it wasn't until just the other day here on the DIS that I connected the Madame Leota to the ghosts appearing in form LOL...

I am fine with him obviously being in the Hallway if I just realize that tidbit... talk about over my head

:duck:

To be fair I am not sure it's a noticeable fact by the average park goer either. As a big HM fan tho, it does grate me a bit haha

There is a national lifeguard shortage. Not just a Disney excuse.

Disneyland’s Paradise Pier adds Nemo- and Dory-themed features as it converts to Pixar Place

Guests staying at Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel can enjoy a “Finding Nemo” themed water play area beginning on Tuesday.

Beginning Tuesday, guests at Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel can enjoy a “Finding Nemo”-themed water play area, part of the ongoing transformation into Pixar Place Hotel at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim.

Disneyland’s Paradise Pier Hotel’s long-awaited “Finding Nemo” and “Finding Dory”-themed slide and splash pad will open Tuesday as the venue continues its transition toward becoming the nation’s first Pixar-themed hotel.
Pool patrons can climb three flights of blue stairs to find Crush, the iconic green surfing sea turtle from the “Finding Nemo” movie, directing them to an aquamarine slide.

The 186-foot-long chute curves around island-like foliage and palm trees before dumping ridegoers into a Dory-themed Pixel Pool that includes an underwater painting of Hank the septopus.

While Disney officials said there are no age or height requirements for the slide, guests must be able to step in and out on their own.

There’s also a 1,200-square-foot pop-jet splash pad for children that shoots up funnels of water located in adjacent Nemo’s Cove.
Disney Paradise Pier Hotel in Anaheim is being remodeled into into Pixar Place Hotel at Disneyland Resort.

The pool capacity near the slide is 45, while a third-floor pool can accommodate up to 589 people at once, according to Disney officials.

Hours change with seasons, but the pool is currently open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., while the slide’s hours will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Only overnight guests of Paradise Pier and, eventually, Pixar Place will have access to the slide and aquatics facility.

The latest additions are part of the hotel’s evolution into Pixar Place, which is set to open this fall. A new lobby, game areas and restaurant are some of the changes on deck for the 15-story hotel.

The changes are part of the hotel’s evolution into Pixar Place, which is set to open this fall.

Currently, reservations are still being taken for Paradise Pier.

The changes have been a boon for a few travel agents who book Disney vacations.

Pittsburgh-based agent Amanda Emmerling, 37, who specializes in Disney vacations, sees the renovation as an attractive bonus for parents with young children.

Emmerling said she sells more vacation packages to Walt Disney World in Orlando but has experienced a recent uptick in sales to Anaheim.

“The Pixar theme has been a winner,” she said. “I had a regular customer tell me recently that she’s willing to overcome the longer flight to take her kids to Cars Land [an auto-themed section of California Adventure] and stay at the Pixar hotel.”

Emmerling said she was scheduled to stay at Paradise Pier with her two young children earlier this year but postponed the vacation until Pixar was officially open.

“The advantage Disneyland has over Disney World is that Disney World can be very overwhelming for young children while Disneyland’s two parks are right next to each other and the hotels are close,” Emmerling said. “Pixar Place just adds to that.”

Heather Marshall, a 45-year-old Disney travel agent from DeMotte, Ind., stayed at Paradise Pier in February and was excited with the changes.

“The bright colors and the cafe area looked amazing and it’s the little touches that make the hotel friendly,” said Marshall, a fan of Pixar’s “Toy Story” franchise. “The lobby is Pixar-themed and has the [Pixar] lamp and even the restrooms are Woody and Bo-Peep themed. It’s going to be gorgeous when it’s done.”
