While Disney's rules allow for a lot of leeway in dress, I would say use your common sense and dress as you would for a restaurant of similar caliber at home. We do slacks or dress shorts and casual dresses or capris in the MDR. DH insists on a suit for PAlo, but I think it would be ok with a dress shirt and slacks. I always wear a dress or nicer slacks outfit. You will see pretty much everything in the MDR, they don't really enforce any kind of dress code there except stopping people in swim suits. In Palo you will see pretty much everything the dress code allows, and often some things it doesn't as the staff doesn't want to turn people away. I sincerely wish they would go back to enforcing a reasonable dress code, but sadly too many people protested.

I've never understood why people think it's a big deal. Once people sit down you can't tell if they are wearing pants or shorts, flip-flops or dress shoes.
