My right leaning friends don't watch CNN, so it doesn't really matter if it has conservative voices or not. This is the reality I live in. I'm not arguing that FOX News and CNN reporting quality is equivalent. I'm not going down that rabbit hole. I'm approaching this from what I'm seeing and hearing from my friends. I think both are pretty terrible, so I get my news from Sky News.

Doesn’t matter. The NY Times is always fact checking. But my Conservative friends don’t read The NY Times or watch CNN, so they’re preaching to the choir. It doesn’t matter.

You find a news source that fits your narrative. You join Facebook groups that also fit that narrative. You avoid sources that question your narrative. This creates a nice safe space.

Sunday morning DH and I just woke up. He was reading emails drinking coffee, one from our Boy Scout leader came thru. He said look, these 2 women from our town were on Shark Tank and got an insane offer on their industry changing type2 diabetes pills.

Took almost 5 minutes before we caught on that we'd been spammed. That draw... we enjoyed hearing about better medicine, rooting for some locals, from a reliable source, etc. It really had an effect on how easily we accepted the info with open arms. Since we liked hearing it, we were slow to question it. It's not easy being human. The incident stunned me to how easily we can be manipulated with these tiny seeds.

Just an example of us being stupid but is part of the big picture. How willing we are to digest info or accept things as truth has very much to do with those intentionally aligned seeds placed within. This is a powerful frontier where data can be tweaked right down to personal interests and form the perfect recipe to control viewpoints. Like Cambridge Analytica.

If you are talking about me personally, then I have say you are wrong. I used to watch some of Fox News. I liked the O'Reilly Factor, Although I didn't like Bill O'Reilly's opinions, I did like how he let people talk and how he related to them. He was smart about it. I also read George Will because I always learn a lot from his columns, even if I disagree with his conclusions. And I listen to a lot of NPR which will cover stories that are inconvenient for both liberals and conservatives alike. I also used to like Lou Dobbs. Like Bill O'Reilly he used be famous for letting opposition guests have the last word.

Tucker used to be graceful and inquisitive. And he would ask the tough questions. He admitted he was against the war in Iraq, but he derided those who seem to want to have it both ways. Remember, he used to be on PBS.

Fox turned into a conspiracy theory rant machine with very little news gathering, a ton of lies and low standards.

I do. It's part of being informed. I may not agree with what the other side is saying but I absolutely want to know what they are thinking and the reasoning behind their actions. Not to mention the whole "two sides to the story, truth in the middle somewhere" thing.

Same with my facebook friends - I've got friends who think the alt-right are liberal and I've got friends who think that we should trash our whole government system and become socialists.

The whole - listen to both sides, then check your facts to see what is actually correct - concept seems to be lost on a LOT of people these days.

I am sure the FBI and the police lie all the time so they can get warrants. I am glad you are finally realizing that the police lie. But the 10 cases of obstruction outlined in the Mueller Report are still true no matter how the warrants were obtained.

If they were true why were they not in the impeachment articles? Certainly that example of TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome) needed a lot of help. The reason is the the MReport was seriously flawed and the leadership was aware of the classified actions going on in the FISA Courts prior to the public information release.

Given that the time frame of this is at minimum days and concerns a multitude of people could you point out what alleged lie you are referring to? And who the potential liar is?
It seems to me you are referring to the meeting set up where adoption, tied to US Sanctions were used to bring up dirt on HRC.

Very simple. Most folks in the House did not want to pursue impeachment until the Ukraine information broke. They wanted to focus on that because they felt it was even more horrible and they would have a chance at turning some Republican votes in the Senate.

Most of my friends are very well versed on a range of views from left to right. Even on the Disboard, some of the conservative voices seem to be very familiar with the opposing view, though it's true some are using arguments that might have convinced people a decade ago but now are thoroughly debunked and a bit embarrassing, even the smarter conservatives do not champion those.

Young people, from all across the political spectrum, are often narrowly informed, but that shouldn't be surprising. It's when older folks say something narrow-minded that is troubling.

There is science involved. It's mind blowing. In grade school, I was taught to look at ways commercials try to influence my behavior. I was not taught to deal with the information warfare happening via social media.

I pretty much gave up on US news sources. I still read Bloomberg, but I get most of my news from outside of the US. I want to hear what other countries are saying about us. Lately, I’ve turned off the news completely. It’s mostly bad news.
