December 2023 Planning Thread

and those that take their wife and kids along for the room being paid for by their company? Its not just the attendees traveling
This is a good point. We traveled with my husband on a trip to WDW in 2022 and hit the parks every day while he was in meetings. I have a feeling a lot of families join when a spouse travels for work. Sure makes it a lot cheaper!

If you’re part of the meeting, will you attend the meeting or go to Disneyland during the day on Dec 3-5?
Are you my boss??? lol....

Both, We arrive on Friday and my obligations at the meeting don't start until Sunday evening with a reception off property. I have meeting activities Monday and Tuesday during the day, but will be in the park Monday night. I may rope-drop Monday before my meeting activities and catch a ride or two. I have a MK so it's a no brainer for me.

Yes, people bring their families, but to my knowledge it's still "school days" Monday-Thursday that week for every district in the nation which could limit some traffic mid-week.

Regardless of crowds, it's a beautiful time to be there and thankful for the chance to stay at the GCH at such a great rate and not have to use points and do good work in the same week!

So very jealous that you have work conventions in Anaheim! Most of mine are in DC (or somewhere else on the east coast). Booooo! 🤣

The next big meeting is in Orlando in March for another large pharmacy organization. We seem to go to Anaheim or Orlando very frequently. These are 10-20K meetings so they need larger facilities and only a few cities can work. Vegas, New Orleans, and Orlando are on the regular rotation. Needless to say we like the Orlando and Anaheim events and I went to school in and my wife is from New Orleans!
Sorry for the hijack...
Now back to our December planning....

We are going too early for candy canes, but if you are later in the month make it priority, they are amazing!

Hi everyone,
I'm going to cancel a Blue Bayou res for 12/18 at 11am (4 ppl). I'll hang on to it for a few days in case anyone here is interested in timing a release. Thanks!

For those who aren't aware, there was a large fire under the 10 freeway near downtown Los Angeles. As a result, the freeway is closed, and will remain closed for 3-5 weeks. This is impacting traffic on surrounding freeways.

Travel from LAX, LGB or SNA airports to Disneyland will be okay. However, travel from Disneyland to Universal, Los Angeles or Hollywood will be impacted.

Is the list updated once a month, or week? I haven't seen a change or my name added in a little bit

Less than 2 weeks for our trip and I am so excited...now if I can just figure out the Genie plus!:flower::jumping3:
figure it out in what way? We cant use it until were actually in the parks i believe. I think it preplans your day...day of? i think? I've only tried
it at WDW so far

Hi everyone. I have a Blue Bayou reservation that I am going to cancel as our plans have slightly changed that day.

It’s for 2 people at 1:10pm on the Wednesday 6th December if anyone would like it, we can try to co-ordinate me cancelling if so.

We're getting so excited for our December trip! Work has been super stressful lately, though I love it, I will be happy for a break!

I scored a pretty good Black Friday deal on tablets for everyone for our flight. It will double as a Christmas gift so yay! It has been hit and miss whether United has seatback entertainment so I want to be prepared. We were able to get Blue Bayou and Tomorrowland Terrace reservations for our trip. Those were the only two we were wanting because we like a lot of the quick service and don't want to be too overcommitted. I did get a Trader Sam's, not sure if that will be one we keep or not. I wish they stayed open later because we like to shut the park down and don't necessarily want to leave early to make our reservation there.

Thanks, everyone, for keeping the discussion on the thread going! I am looking forward to the first December trips and hope we will get some reports back about how it went!

I think normally on the day - I may be confusing that with the Tiki Hatbox Ghost special cups though?

It looks like a one day thing, I just wasn’t sure. We are going to trader Sam’s for the first time in a few weeks.

My daughter and I are getting very excited for our trip next month. We’ll be 12/18-19. The only 2 days we have dates available for MK during Christmas time plus on Christmas break :)
This will be her 3rd trip this year and my 4th. This is our first Christmastime trip since 2016 I think?
We have WOC dessert party reserved for one of the nights, and hoping to see the fireworks on the other. Yay!
