Another chain restaurant topic - which ones are gone or just missing in action in your area?

We very seldom go out to eat and we have alot of chain restaurants in neighboring towns. The only ones I know for sure that have closed are Ruby Tuesdays in the mall and a Burger King location down from the mall. We’ve never had a White Castle or Shoneys. The local Red Lobster and Olive Garden are always packed.

Outback Steakhouse shut down sometime in the last few months. Looks like Chili's might be next, tried to go there Saturday night but they were takeout and delivery only.

Hot Sam's and Schlotzsky's. I know there are still a large number of Schlotzsky's still around but I never seem to be anywhere they are. There used to be one at the Denver airport so I would stop there on any layovers but it seems like that one is gone too and I don't recall the last time I flew through Denver.

Showbiz Pizza Place: a magical place where you could eat pizza while a life sized show on three stages would sing, tell jokes, and entertain you. i miss the Rockafire Explosion a lot, and i owe them a lot for my sanity.
I had my 3rd birthday at the Vallejo location. I loved their records. Youtube has some great documentaries on them.

Welcome to the dis, Raeman.

Ooh ooh ooh! Some of these comments are three years old, and no one's said this yet....

I'm so excited...

All of the Ruby Tuesday’s around here are closed
This. My city used to have two and now there in none. The nearest one is 40 miles away!
Ruby Tuesdays in the nearby mall just closed abruptly last week.
Ours did too.
Ruby Tuesday - loved it when I lived in IL and was shocked it was not in CA even though we frequently see commercials for it
The only ones I know for sure that have closed are Ruby Tuesdays

Are you ready? Here it is....

Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday :flower1:

That's all for me tonight. Try the veal, tip your waitress.

I remember the commercials voiced by Scott Glenn. There was only one within a few hundred miles of my home. I'd driven by it a few times on the way to a tribal casino, but I never really thought of going in.

There was one location each of Chili's and Outback in our city in the late 2000's. The both closed years ago but there is some sort of Chili's counter-service place in the airport.

Anybody in the mid-Atlantic area remember Hot Shoppes? Some were family sit-down restaurants, some had cafeteria service, and others were drive-ins. They were popular in the 60s and 70s and were owned by Marriott.

Most of the Ruby Tuesday's in the Northern VA where I am at most of the time are gone. Along with the K-Marts and most of the Sears stores.

Shoney's, Ruby Tuesdays, Sizzler, Mr Steak, Perkins left then brought back 1 restaurant, Only 1 Denny's left, Village Inn only a couple left

Denny's? Really? I've never been anywhere in either Canada or the States that had any shortage of Denny's.

Around the Tampa/Bradenton area there used to be a small chain of Johnny Leverocks seafood restaurants that was a family favourite, especially the one on the way out to Anna Maria Island .

Even though it is a 3 year old thread, it could be interesting to see how that list of restaurants that are no longer in your area grew. Right off the top of my head I cannot think of anything, but I do remember some of the "oldies" that seem to be long gone.

I vaguely remember Burger Chef as a kid, I cannot remember the last time I saw one of those.

Bonanza also seems to be a very difficult one to find. I think a few still exist though.

I cannot recall the last time I have seen a Ryan's either... not that I miss it.

It also seems that GD Ritzy's is pretty much gone, I know they still have a few left in southern Indiana and maybe western Kentucky.

Our local Red Robin closed in the past year. There are still a few in the area, but now we'd have to go at least 25 minutes away.

Missing: Chili’s, Cracker Barrel, Sonic (all of those we have to go one state over and like an hour plus drive to get to), KFC, Panda Express

We used to have and I miss but we have some close by: Panera, Wendy’s, Buffalo Wild Wings

In our area but wish was closer: Outback, Olive Garden, Red lobster, Pizza Hut

our Wingstop is still closed due to damage issues from Ida.

We only have Chili's, Applebees, and Red Lobster. All terrible based on the demographic of people available to work in these 3 restaurants.

We have fantastic food at many dive bars around, but people would rather eat sub-par chain restaurant food with carpet than excellent food while having to step on a chip in the floor and banged up table corner.

My town also has a lot of great restaurants from various different countries and cultures. Sadly some didn’t survive the pandemic and a few are still shut down due to major flooding and damage during hurricane Ida.

Yes, I remember them. We'd often go to the one on Old York Road in Abington, PA. I think it closed in the early 80s.
