Day 11 – September 26th - Tutto Italia – Dinner
We had been having a hard time picking a restaurant for this evening, especially after Eat to the Beat was announced. Originally we had Le Cellier booked, but I was already concerned that it wouldn’t suit Peta and, as it turned out, it clashed with the concert time so had to be changed. There are so many choices at EPCOT that it is hard to decide. In the end, I decided that we might feel like Italian at this stage of the trip as we often eat it at home. I had done my research and found that Tutto Italia would probably suit our needs and does GF pasta. We have family who had done it on a trip I planned for them a year earlier, and they had said it was quite good.
It wasn’t so busy, but it was a very early dinner time. We were seated immediately in a comfy booth. The atmosphere here was homely and romantic!
Our server came by quickly and helped by recommending dishes for Trent and I and getting the chef to talk to Peta.
I went with the recommendation to start:
Calamari Fritti - marinara piccante; serves two $30
As you can see, they were not kidding about serving too. This was absolutely delicious!
Trent felt like something lighter:
"Fior di Latte" Caprese - vine-ripe tomatoes, basil, Maldon sea salt, Tuscan olive oil $15
He devoured this! It was light but so well seasoned, and the mozzarella made the dish.
Peta also went for a lighter option:
Arucola e Mozzarella - arugula salad, mozzarella, pomegranate, Parma ham, mustard vinaigrette $20 – Without the Ham!
She said this was tasty and that it had just enough dressing on it.
Then it was straight on to mains, and both Trent and I went for the classics, hoping they would not disappoint. I went with the:
Lasagna alla Bolognese - "Al Forno" meat ragu, bechamel, parmesan cheese $27
This was, quite possibly, the best Lasagne I have ever eaten! The sauce was meaty and so flavourful. The whole dish was the perfect blend of tomato and cheesy goodness!
Trent went for:
Spaghetti - Beef and veal meatballs, pomodoro sauce $24
This is his go to Italian dish, and he was not disappointed. The sauce was the real star, but he said that the meat balls were super tasty and somewhat sweet.
Fettuccine Campagnole - Arugula and basil pesto, spinach and burrata cheese $27 (made with GF pasta instead of fettuccine).
Peta said that the pesto was excellent, but it was a massive serve and she only made it half way through.
Trent was excited about dessert, and I was surprised he still had room. He went for:
Cannoli - Crisp pastry filled with sweet Ricotta, chocolate, candied orange $10
He said it was delicious, and the ricotta balanced the sweetness. He ate it pretty quickly.
Peta on the other hand, was feeling very full and made a light dessert choice:
Gelati e Sorbetti - Gelati - Cioccolato, Vaniglia, Stracciatella. Sorbetti - Lemon, Strawberry (No sugar added) $10
I probably should have made the same choice, but I couldn’t pass up:
Panna Cotta Delle Langhe - vanilla and chocolate panna cotta with fresh strawberry compote and crumbled almond-hazelnut meringue cookies; gluten free $13
The server and chef were very attentive, and came to check on us at several points throughout the meal.
And so, the score card:
Food: 4/5 – Very delicious choices here! I think they would also suit fussy eaters.
Service: 5/5 – Staff here were super attentive.
Experience: 3/5 – The atmosphere here is nice, but it is lacking in special theming.
