I've been sick for a few days so I'm catching up on Trip Report - Half Marathon Day!
I took so so many photos Sunday morning so I'll be making a few posts about my ChEAR Squad experience. I was very happy to be up at 4am to support my sister
Part of my gear I got from runDisney was this button.
Look it is an adorable fairy walking to Disneyland!
I enjoy talking to anyone about anything so waiting in lines isn't boring and I had fun chatting in lines all weekend with other Disney guests. This was also very true on race day. The ladies in front of us waiting in the security line had cute handmade Bug clips in their hair. And we did chat with some friendly ladies on line for the bathroom pre-race.
After Roxymama and I decided where we were meeting up and she headed to her corral, I walked back over to Disneyland. I wasn't 100% sure where I could get in but I was the first person to line up by the gates on the far left after talking to a nice security guard. They were going to let us into the park a bit before 5:30. More people started lining up that signs and cowbells and coffee. I was running on just excitement instead of caffeine! One security guard was moving some of the gates/fences and started a chain reaction domino fence that they had to chase after..oops!
We were given very specific instructions by a super serious security guard that we had to show our orange bracelet to him and walk in single file and follow him into the park. Once we got into our area in Town Square, we had to stay there until everyone had run through the park and into DCA. At that point we were welcome to leave the way we came in but the runners would be coming back into the park for Mile 3. We just had to move over to the right to see them run back in. They "fenced" us into Town Square with benches - fences we could sit on yay!
One of the people waiting was cheering for an Elite runner who had bib 5 so she got a spot right by the front. Some nice local people had runners in corral D so they suggested those with faster runners get spots in the front of viewing area and then we switch out - good suggestion. I was smack dab center front sitting on a bench waiting for my sis as the sun rose and music played. It was so beautiful. I got a text at 5:41 that Roxy had started running and shortly after the wheelchair racers came by.
Off the the right halfway down to the castle, Chip and Dale were set up for a photo pass. While they were waiting for runners to come by, they were in the street waving at us from afar.
I knew roughly how fast Roxymama ran a mile so I knew when to start looking for her. I spotted her in line for the chipmunks! And I took video of her running by and caught one photo of her going past Town Hall on the way to DCA. Please turn your sound down when you watch the videos I post as I yelled really loud for her when she ran by and I don't want to break your eardrums
She looked so happy! It was definitely easy to spot her in the blue with white wings
I didn't use my clapper, I just yelled and clapped a ton
I was having such fun shouting encouragements to the runners and watching the costumes. I ended up walking back and forth between the 3 mile marker area in front of Great Moments with Mr Lincoln and my original spot after Roxy ran by the first time. I yelled at a few people "I don't know you but I believe in you!" And then I saw the ladies with the bug hair clips from the security line and yelled extra loud for them.
My favorite photo I saw someone else take was a Judy Hops getting major air time!
And this is what the chipmunks did after everyone had run by ...danced in the street...
I knew after I saw a bunch of Lost Boys in onesies and Man Elsa, that Roxymama was coming by again so I went and found a bench to sit on by the 3rd Mile marker so I could see her coming out of the tunnel...
