2019 Trip Swag

It looks better than the green one they did like 5 years ago! :)

I really like that! I wish we would have gotten that for our adventure in 2017.

When do the boxes typically arrive? How far in advance of a trip? (Can't wait to get our first box!)

Nice! Excited about the backpack. The swag has been pretty bleak IMO the past few years. @sayhello so funny you mentioned the green backpacks. I *hated* them when we first got them, but I've totally changed my tune and feel badly for maligning them, LOL. We've found them so useful to tavel with. We toss them in the suitcase and they make great day bags, and they are so super lightweight. Not good as a carry-on bag, but great for travel.

Interesting. I might have to dig mine out & give it a second chance! ;) That is if I haven't given it away... I do believe that was the year I went to Greece, and only *one* person on the trip actually brought it on the trip with him, and he pretty much ended up hating it. I guess it depends on what you're using it for!

We got ours in Scotland. That is exactly what happened to us. We tried using them as carry-ons and hated them (no structure and hard to find stuff), but for some reason we threw one in our bag one time, and ended up loving it as a day bag when you don't want to lug around a heavy purse or carry-on bag. We use them all the time now. I think the boys used one in China! Surprised we didn't have this conversation, LOL.

Yep, that's the same year I went to Greece, 2013. :) I'm surprised I didn't notice! Now I have to look through all my photos!

Years ago I purchased a Rick Steves day backpack / shoulder day bag and use it on every trip. Then we received the green backpack from ABD and found it much the same and serves much the same purpose as the Rick Steves pack. Agree not a carry on but a day pack.

Do they not do the orange luggage straps anymore?
No, they haven't done those in a few years. Which is too bad, because it was a great item! Mine is pretty beat up at this point.

Santa brought new ones for our crew as stocking-stuffers this year - you can find them on Amazon very easily. And they are so inexpensive I can't believe ABD doesn't continue to do them given the popularity!

I need to do some further research, because I bought some new ones, and the plastic lock broke the first time I used it. :( Definitely not the quality of the one from ABD!

One of my orange ones was stolen / went missing in China. I told the guides and they just shrugged and said it was normal. Granted the US guide on that trip was probably my least favorite of all guides (the guide from Beijing was AMAZING). With A&K we lost a water bottle and had another one within an hour!

Same question here. I've heard 30 days out or so, but OP obviously got theirs a bit earlier. Is it typically a 30-45 day-ish window? (We're a bit excited too!)

This was the best "gift" item we have gotten from ABD. We still use them on all trips, get home and hand wash them. We dread the day we see our luggage coming down the conveyer belt and a strap is missing.

I think they typically send them in batches- we have received them anywhere from 60-20 days in advance. The 20 days was a couple of years ago though and most of them have come at least 30 days ahead.

@DCPhotoGal - how many bags did you get for your family of 4? This looks like a perfect day bag for our Greece trip, when we might want to have bathing suits, cover ups, change of clothes accessible for some of those really active or transition days.
