SAP+ ?

Keep in mind that BLT will be much harder to book at 7 months post-refurb.
I have but our plan for the next 10 years is to try all the unrestricted resorts. I have already had 2 stays at BLT so if I miss it for a few years that is fine. Same goes for BWV and BCV. I have booked BWV for the second half of our next trip so again we are fine with missing out on those resorts some trips.

Our next decision is do we like split stays. We find out this trip. 5 days at BLT in a 1 bedroom we then move to BWV into a 2 bedroom for 4 days.

I feel like the use of SAP isn't really a 'thing' if I only want to stay in studios. Availability at 7 months seems so tough for studios. We just have our 50 pts at BRV but I've considered that we might want more points down the road. I've asked myself...do I buy more at BRV or do I get SAP to basically add to that. But then I worry I'd be stuck at SSR or whatever anyway.

But then if we want more points to book 1-bedroom...does buying SAP make more sense for that than buying more BRV? I suspect BRV will always be our top choice for stays.

Traditionally a SAP contract is just one where you don’t mind using points anywhere as dues/buy in were low. For VGF/PVB you would probably be looking to extend trip at 7 months rather than overbooking points at 11 months.

I would split the resorts like this for a resale contracts depending on price of course.
Excellent SAP

I think I’ve determined I need about 125 points total (not counting my VGC points), that way I can stay in a studio every year if I want, or bring friends for multiple studios or a 2bdrm every three years. I know I want to pick up a small BWV (25-30) and that leaves about 100 elsewhere, basically SAP, so my new dilemma is do I just keep my 50 BRV & add 50 more at CCV, or do I sell the BRV and buy 100 SAP at either CCV or in combo with SSR, BLT, etc.
Would love to add some Aulani Sub, but I really think those dues are going to pass up the bottom resorts in the next 5+ years or so.

The issue I have with BLT as SAP is that it costs $25-35 more per point than SSR. For me the extra 6 years is not important since I will be 96 in 2034. You might also get SSR for up to $40-50 less per point.

I also found that in our expected travel time I have not needed to book there at 11 months. I was able to reserve a 1-bedroom standard view for our August trip yesterday. I only booked it because I figure give a standard room a try but going forward, I expect we will book lakeview at BLT. Last year I booked a lakeview 1 bedroom at 4 months.
Yep, the one thing I always need to keep in mind is the “DVC Math” you have to include everything purchase price, & dues or you’re not really comparing apples to apples.

I’m in a similar boat where I have my BRV up for sale, but will be looking for another 50 or 100 if I sell it… the good thing about DVC is we can always add on, or sell as needed. ;)

Yeah, I think when the time comes for us to possibly move up to 1 bedrooms...we'll have to decide what we're looking for. So they let you tour rooms at the various resorts? I thought it was only possible for the ones being actively sold.

I change my opinion on the resorts a lot. So who knows what I'll like in a few years. BLT, for example...the rooms are just "meh" but maybe after the refurb I'll like them more. I'm not big on tall buildings though so that might be deal breaker. But the two full bathrooms would be really nice!

Originally, Beach Club was my top favorite (all of my opinions are just based on photos/videos.) But I've heard it can be pretty crazy over there. So the DVC building area isn't too crazy since it's set back? My husband isn't a fan because he looked at street view and hates how the side of the building overlooks the road. I do worry about road noise because of that. Walking to Epcot (our favorite park) would be so amazing though!
I was in a studio at BCV starting the 10th of February. My room was 2nd floor in the back with a road view and a super large balcony. I didn't do much out there but the room itself was quiet. I'd take it again. Since I didn't really sit out there, I don't even remember how loud it was. Obviously not bad enough to make an impression!

Yeah...I'm just not sure how many points we'll want/need at WDW. We can't really do split-stays because our son would meltdown with moving around. So we really need 6-7 nights in a row wherever we end up. But we honestly don't know how often we'll want to go to WDW. At least every 3rd year. But maybe every other year. Or maybe even 2 years in a row sometimes. Right now I'm basically just keeping an eye on BRV contracts even though I don't really want to buy anymore WDW points just yet...unless there's some massive drop in price or something. (Wanna sell me that BRV contract of yours for $75/pp  ?)

I got 5 standard view studios at the Polynesian for the same 8 nights in January last year.

Is there data on that? It seems logical that people would chase refurbished rooms but I'm not convinced I've seen booking behavior back that up. Boulder Ridge and Beach Club were booking just fine and I think their rooms were in much worse shape than BLT.

Funny you ask because I’ve had some low offers that I declined & that’s what got me thinking about just keeping it (renting what I don’t use). I guess we’ll just see if any better offers come thru.

I would buy enough at a home resort that you want to stay at. You’re already looking at a bank/borrow multi-year strategy in very specific travel windows…. very different if you go every year/multiple times a year and have a lot of flexibility about when your travel.

On a separate note my wife and I were looking at BC/BW 2BD, AKV GV (J & K), Polly Bungalows, BLT GV TP, and GF GV last night on you tube.

After the BC/BW, AK & Poly we got to BLT GV TP and she said “now that’s what I’m talking about!”…. then we watched the GF GV and she said “Ok…. well obviously that one is the best…”

So… I think I have my marching orders 🤣

Will this require another point top-up 😂

Those BLT TPV GVs are amazing… I’m lining one up for summer ‘25… who knows maybe they will have even finish the rehab by then!

We ended up buying 350 unplanned loaded AUL-S contracts… which brings us up to 950 @ AUL.

We have a 125pt VGF going through ROFR that will find lot about most likely by the end of this week. As we would probably be an every 3 year WDW family… I feel that no matter what happens with VGF we’ll probably hold pat for now and try 7m availability since we have enough points.

But… looking at aggregators make us do crazy things…..

Bold of you to assume you can stay in a VGF GV and be able to resist coming back to WDW more often 😏

How low have people offered? I've already forgotten what my original offer was on the contract we got. Maybe 85 or 90.

What's "TP" stand for?

We're throwing around the idea of going to WDW in January 2025. We won't have enough new BRV points to borrow so we might use some overflow VGC points like we did for our trip this year. That means booking at the 7 month window. So I asked my husband to basically rank the DVC options so at the 7 month mark, I'll know what to go for (depending upon availability....which means we'll probably end up at SSR.) We just looked at the studio options and anything without murphy beds was put at the very bottom. So right now, he put GF at the top of his list, just because he likes the transportation options and he thought the rooms looked nice. But I told him we're unlikely to get one. He said "that's probably for the best because we'd likely love it and then want to buy a contract there too!" And honestly...he's not wrong. Ha! We put Poly towards the top of our list as well, again mainly for transportation options. Not sure if I'd ever see us buying there though because it seems less laid back to me and the theme is just "meh" for me.

She said “I can see the Contemporary, the Monorail, the lake, and the Magic Kingdom from my living room and kitchen….why wouldn’t we just order in and eat dinner in our room every night”…. Pretty spectacular.

When is the refurb supposed to start?

TP- Theme Park

Poly- Hard for us to get excited about this when we go to Aulani….

She doesn’t really like FL (West Coast = Best Coast)…. so I’m trying to find places that could get her excited to add it to the rotation.

G+ and LL work so well at DL that we really don’t wait in standby lines longer than 20 minutes anymore…. so looking at the wait time on the MDE app…😱…. it better be a nice room and have nice dining options….

Refurb later this year by all accounts, but judging by recent refurbs it will go on well into 2025…

And yes, imagine ordering in and sitting having your own private fireworks dining party! Your wife has the right idea 😂

I’m wondering if the SAB refurb in early 2025 will scare away BCV folks and that will leave more 7m availability in the 2BD….

It seems like if that is available at 7m it should be jumped on for the location alone….
