Marathon Weekend 2024

I've never run a Disney race and so I'm super curious, how long does stopping for character pictures add to your finish time?
Depends on the line.

I started in Corral A at the back of wave 1.

Moving time: 26:35
Elapsed time: 52:47

I stopped for 7 photos (skipped 100th sign) so about 26 minutes. Would have been slightly faster if not for a large group at Mickey and Snow White doing a bazillion photos. One group of 6 runners took group photos, individuals, duos, trios….

Same 😅. Keep refreshing though, I picked up HS for Saturday. And we don’t need park reservations for after 2pm (except MK on weekends), right? I want to go to Epcot tomorrow after I finish working.

Thanks for all of the replies about pictures. Great information!

I was in the back of B, jogging about 13-14 minutes pace until the first mile marker, and the line for the first character (Mickey) was already probably around 20 minutes. I heard the CM at Snow White tell people 30-40 when I went by Germany.

Lines get longer the further back you start and slower you move, which seems pretty obvious, but it's also a vicious cycle because stopping and waiting means the next line is just getting longer. And not knowing what characters are coming up on he course makes it really hard to prioritize!

How crowded was expo? I did Tron and gave up at MK to chill at the resort, now thinking about going back to get my pics I missed yesterday
Just leaving now. It’s not crowded at all. Waited about 10 mins for Mickey & Minnie. Chip and dale line was shorter.

Also whoever asked about dopey jackets I didn’t see any in any size 🤷‍♀️

Thanks for checking!

Anyone on the buses from Saratoga Springs this morning? Which direction do they run around the resort and how was the wait? We get in tomorrow and I’m just wondering if it will be better to head for the Carriage House if I’m not too far away or just stick to the closer bus stop.

If it’s like springtime, there is only one bus pickup/drop off for the races. Hopefully someone is currently staying there and can verify for you though!

Any new info about the Sat morning weather? The forecast is still showing t-storms.
If they do decide to cancel, any idea when the word would go out.
Dang, adverse weather for MW is a new experience for me.

Question for those who have managed to exchange a medal before - one of plutos ear’s broke off my son’s. Between the early morning, Plutos’s helper at Epcot saying he couldn’t sign his bib or medal, and now this, he’s in tears.
I was thinking of heading to the expo and trying to talk to someone from RunDisney and ask very nicely. Worse case he’ll just get to keep mine. It’s 100% his fault for not being more careful, but he’s heartbroken.

The race busses only run from the carriage house (off to the side by the normal “the springs” bus stop.) You will need to walk there to take the bus.

In 2017 they sent word out in the early evening that the race was being canceled.

FWIW, the latest forecast I’m seeing has the potential storms pushed back to late morning and afternoon, so that’s trending positively, at least.

The only time I changed one of mine was right after the race, at the customer relations tent. They were understanding and had extras. Are you running tomorrow? If so, you could go there with the medal and ask. You will have to put it in your gear check bag if you don’t want to be running with it.

If like 2017, notice went out in early evening/late afternoon, first it was just the notice of cancelation and later that night the options were provided.

For all of us there who can forget “In an abundance of caution…”

Options as I remember were, gift cards, push the registration to another race or run the full instead . They still gave out the medal and lots of ppl ran on their own all around the park. It was actually quite inspiring!

Went to AK mid-morning. With the wind it felt much colder than waiting for the race to start this morning! I ended up just getting lunch and heading back to the resort. I'm pretty much over this cold now and don't need it flaring back up!
Same here. I drug myself out of bed and hoped that walking around would help With getting the blood flowing and kicking the last of this food poisoning/stomach bug. In the shade it was cold. In the sun, it was warm. The wind definitely made it colder. Headed back around 4pm as I was fading fast.

Between the “leaked” list for wine & dine 10k and then looking at a character Instagram I was able to prioritize characters perfectly
