As far as planning goes, maybe it's just me but planning out my day at theme park is not what we want. I have a schedule at home, I don't go on vacation for a schedule. All we plan for our vacations are hotel, flight and any dining.

This so much. I would go insane if I had to plan what rides I want to go on months in advance. No thanks.

Months in advance isn't likely what they're going to do - more like 7 days in advance.

I understand your point, but at the same time: most vacation destinations involve some level of planning. If you go to Europe, you need to plan ahead your itinerary, timed entry tickets to museums, bus and train tickets, etc. People can go on vacation without planning a thing, but you'll likely have a less stressful time if you plan ahead.

To each their own, but if people want to plan ahead so that they can relax when they actually get there, I think that should be an option.

Right, but I'm not talking about a Europe vacation. I am talking about a Disney Park.

It is not the same thing to have to plan to go on Space Mountain 3 months in advance than planning transportation 3 months in advance for vacation. Apples and cheese where the only thing they have in common is that both are food and the letter e.

To each their own, but if people want to plan ahead so that they can relax when they actually get there, I think that should be an option.

Maybe this is the change to G+ coming next year. A system similar to Universal's Express Pass. Expect to pay a minimum of $500/person for this G++ option.

But they basically have that already - it's a VIP tour. And they don't want their other skip the line service to eat into VIP profits.

Something that G+ originally had and which they took away--being able to purchase G+ for your entire stay in advance--would be nice to have back. I seriously doubt it would happen, since they love charging as much as they can for it, but this would definitely be an improvement.

Even being able to purchase a multi-day G+ would be an improvement.

And, if they did nothing else, it'd be a HUGE improvement if booking G+ at 7 a.m. worked every single day. Instead of the current system where it may or may not work at 7 and then one ends up either losing out on their selections since they weren't on their phone at 7:26 or 7:32 or whenever the system finally came back up or staring at their phone and refreshing for anywhere between 5 minutes and 2 hours.

I consider the too-frequent nonworking aspect of G+ to be one of its greatest downfalls.

We feel the same way. Part of why we go on vacation is to leave behind the schedules associated with the daily workweek. Vacation for us is a time to be unstructured and not locked into rigid schedules. Get up when we want, go where we want, etc. In the past we only went Disney maybe every 5 yrs or so because the rides/shows don't change that often. The high prices at Disney also mean there is less 'value' for us so we have little interest in going again anytime soon. There are a LOT of other places we like to vacation that don't cost as much as Disney and aren't nearly as crowded.

Even if you do plan by the hour, what happens if a ride is down for maintenance or bad weather? I just don't see the point in that and not our choice how to enjoy a vacation. No amount of planning is going to make a Disney park less crowded and even Disney has no idea how many locals with AP's will decide to show up some day.

Yeah, it's basically impossible to balance "I don't want to have to overplan my vacation ahead of time" with "I want to make sure I get on the rides I want without too much waiting."

IDK seems Universal has a handle on that as do other theme parks. I mean I didn't plan at all for Silver Dollar City aside from understanding it was once through Mystic Falls with our Trailblazer pass.

I just looked up Silver Dollar City, having never heard of it. It's half the size of the smallest park at WDW and about 1/4 the attendance of the least-visited WDW park. No surprise that they can do things differently there.

That's fair. Universal is not that much smaller than WDW and that system works there too. IMO the biggest difference is the attitude of guests between parks.

Meaning as much as people will complain about waiting in lines at Universal or other parks, they accept that's part of going to a park.

If it plays out how Len Testa is predicting, both camps should get their way, so I don't see a problem with it. Plan ahead if you want, or just show up and go with the flow day of.

The rumor that is circulating is that it's likely to be 7 days in advance for onsite guests, 3 days in advance for offsite. I'd guess it's extremely unlikely to be 3 months..

ETA: I see you meant 3 LL's in advance, not 3 months. Not sure what a good balance would be. I like the idea of 3 in advance but only 1 tier one attraction so they don't all sell out.

Yes, I saw that, sorry - edited my original post. There are also rumors that Disney will only release a certain percentage in advance (ie: 50% of slots for a particular ride will be released in advance, and 50% saved for 'same day').

This is why it seems to me like it will please both camps.
