We land in DC in the morning before flying to Germany the next day. We were thinking we would try hanging around at the hotel most of the day but now wondering if ds will be too bored to do that even if we swim. We’re considering visiting the Air Museum but wondering what the best way to get there is from our hotel. I’m assuming we’ll have to use Uber or something like that and we’ve never done that with ds. Dh and I have only used it once or twice. Is it pretty safe in that area?

I only now know about Oshkosh because of my BF. Not because he's a plane nerd who goes....rather that's when the 200% trips are available like crazy. I'm bummed because he ended up w/ Covid and had to turn down some great ones like San Juan. AHHHHH, LOL.

For the first time, each of the big three (UA, AA and DL) had a tent as well as the Pilots' Union. I saw a lot more people with crew tags on the grounds than I have any other year. I know SW, Delta and AA had a plane here at least one day. AA did the Honor Flight on Friday with a specially painted plane and left it until Saturday afternoon.

The National Mall? I'll let you know, I head there Monday for a work conference. Monday afternoon I'm going to the National Museum of the American Indian and have a night tour of the monuments Wednesday night.

I decided to have one more go at Caesar's. I tweeted them and included my video from 7/11. An exec reached out and offered me 2 free nights at Nobu whenever I want (Super Bowl and NYE excluded). And to think all I wanted was the room charge of $70! Considering the rates of Vegas on the weekend, I'm thrilled! It says any night they have availability. And also no resort fees, and premium room. Again, I just wanted the $70 covered. So add this into the over and above

They definitely needed to compensate you. Perhaps you got the large compensation because the first set of bozos should have happily given you your $70 back and didn't. Good work not giving up.

Ugh, I wanted to grab a Delta Gold card while the SUB is elevated. Ends today. But I'm still in pop-up jail regardless of whether I use a referral link from DH or DoC or no link. Any ideas of what else to try? The card was actually going to be a keeper because it'll pay for itself with free luggage alone.

Well, never mind! I decided to try the Delta Business Gold through DH's referral link. 70K + 25K for the referral, $3K spend. Approved!

Considering that earlier I was willing to settle for the 65K offer on the personal card, even without referral bonus, I'm happy with this outcome since it leaves me with an extra 5/24 spot.

You should be perfectly safe in that area and should be able to easily get an uber. Are you doing checkin nearby? Maybe your hotel would have a courtesy shuttle?

The one on the mall is open but they are doing renovations so there's really very little to see there at this time. The udvar-hazy is definitely worth a trip if you're in a dulles area hotel and have time.

Our hotel isn’t right by the airport but is close enough that it has an airport shuttle. I’m guessing we’ll end up taking an Uber. I’m hoping we can get a room when we land but it’s before normal check in time.

Thanks for so much great info in this thread. I would never have thought of a positioning flight without it. Or checking out Viirgin Atlantic and Flying Blue. I have booked our flight to Paris for next summer in AF business class out of IAD. So much less points than I thought I would have to spend, So excited!!! We will fly to DC the day before from Louisiana and stay at a hotel near the airport. I should be able to book our return from Barcelona next week. Thanks again- I don't post much but read often and very impressed by how y'all do this.

It has a credit limit. I forget which one is which. I'm thinking that means credit card, though.
