There is a lot less activity for sure. Back when, literally 20+ years ago, the average number of pages of daily postings on the CB was 7-8. I just looked now, about 1 1/4 pages and then I hit Tuesday. I do keep the several of the heavy duty questioners on ignore, helps my sanity.
I just did 'show ignore content' to me, 10 of the possible 30 slots on page 1 were the heavy duties. That's a lot of territory, day in, day out.
I know I have a number of friends whom I have met through the dis who no longer come here, for many various reasons. They have tried for years to get me to join in on their FB groups. I don't do FB, don't want to. So for me, these people are emails and texts with me, a phone call now and then.
If you take a look at this dis Way Back from back in 2001, you'll see a lot of moderator type people taking care of various boards.

I may be in error, but I think the moderator people were more involved back then with the posters on the respective boards. I know we had 6 moderator type people on the community board back then and there were a lot of threads started by that group and a lot of interaction from us back then. I know I used to sort of 'spam' the other boards here about twice a week. I used to post a thread on each of, as that time, 30-35 boards, that I called 'Your State of the Day' and followed by a state name, like Illinois. In the thread, I used to include a map of the state and a few highlights of the state. And then I would include a link to the community board with a thread for that day's state, asking people to click it and visit the community board and tell us all the neat things about their state. People are typically proud of where they live and like to tell other people about their home areas. And people on the community board learned about the new people and where they were from, etc. It did bring quite a bit of interaction from people who never knew about the cb. That simple, though at times time consuming little exercise, brought a lot of people to the community board for the first time. Once here, they looked around and said like, hey, looks like a fun board and something different from the many other planning boards here and stayed, interacted, had fun. I know many people over the years back then said that simple idea is what made them even aware there was a community board and what it was like.

It is much slower than years back.
