Extended Evening Hours

So we just got back and we went to extended hours at MK. Heard a CM tell a guest who complained she didn't know about it that yeah Disney not really publishizing extended hours ...I don't understand why not? Wouldn't you want to give guests a reason to book a more expensive resort. BTW it was great ...rode thunder without a wait twice and could have done many more times. Alot of stores were closed other than main street ones tho.

so what is the best way to find out the dates for an upcoming trip??
Disney posts the hours (and resorts they apply to): https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/guest-services/extended-evening/
It's pretty easy to see that Mondays are Epcot and Wednesdays are Magic Kingdom. No guarantees but that's been the pattern for a bit now.
They're also on the Disney calendar: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/calendars/five-day/

I don't really understand the comment about Disney not really publicizing the hours. I've seen them all along.

thanks for this!

For those who have been at epcot extended hours, are there still food locations open?
Like could we get a margarita in Mexico or a Grand Marnier slushed in France?
(I understand festival food booths will be closed but what about regular world showcase food places?)

There was one stand near Nemo open. I think it had pretzels and drinks. I tried to go back to Brazil for a Caipirinha like 10 minutes into after hours and it was completely closed.

Most of the stands were closed, all quick service looked closed.

Do we think Disney will continue these deluxe hours throughout the 50th anniversary?
Looking for our 2nd trip during the celebration in June 22.

Way too soon to tell. They only publish park hours about 2 months out lately and even when they used to show the hours sooner, they'd change them a few times as things got nearer (generally they'd show them closing earlier and gradually extend the hours as they had a better outlook on bookings/attendance). We're also going in June and are just using the Touring Plans times as a decent estimate to plan around.

Can someone clarify if you need a reservation for that park on the day of Extended Evening Hours? For example, we are AP so can Park hop and DVC so staying at a Deluxe Resort. Let's say on one of the Wednesdays that MK is having Extended Evening Hours I have my park reservation for AK and then park hop to MK after 2pm. Can I stay until 11pm? Cannot tell from this information (will call to clarify bu just was curious if anyone knew! TIA!)
  • Guests will need valid admission and a theme park reservation for the same park on the same day to experience extended evening hours–or, Guests may experience extended evening hours if they have a ticket or annual pass with the Park Hopper option and first enter the park where they made their reservation.
Yes, you may park hop to the Evening Hours Park with a PH and a deluxe stay. :-)

All - anyone know how they are going to keep track if we are staying at a Deluxe hotel and qualify for Extended Evening Hours? Just wondering if we need to pick up a wrist band after we go into the park or something like that at our hotel?

They are scanning Magic Bands, even for my four year old. I joked that she had her own room at All Stars, and they still made me go back to the stroller and get her band.

I saw them turn away someone staying at CB. It's just like EMH used to be, they can scan your MB and see where you are staying (and if you are DVC).

Our experience was a little different. At each ride, they had a CM stationed with a scanner. They scanned one Magic Band only and then asked how many in the party. The only exception was Space Mountain, where they scanned all of our Magic Bands.

H and I were just discussing this - if you aren't staying at a deluxe, would you be able to stay in the park for extended hours if you don't try to ride rides? It doesn't apply to us since we're not there on a day when they have extended hours, but we were curious if you could do it to try to shop or eat after the regular park closing.

I think technically you could. However, when we were at MK for EEH, there were no food carts open near the rides. Not sure if Main Street stayed open later,

they do have buses running, I had to get back to SSR from Epcot. No, Remy still isn't included. 2 hours wasn't enough time to traverse Epcot and do everything but did a few rides. Still had to wait 20 minutes for Frozen.

I didn't see a lot of persons hanging around the park, so I am not sure that they allowed anyone who wasn't qualified to stay there. The pub was open, and I believe Creation Shop was open, but not much else was.

We had the same experience last week at MK. I think there were one or two rides where they made all of us scan our magicbands.

My biggest complaint with the extra evening hours was how scarce the food options were at MK at night. Most places were closed, and the few that were open had long lines by the time we went to grab something. A minor annoyance but definitely was noticed by our party.

Club Cool was not open. I'm in Epcot a lot and I have no idea where Kabuki Cafe is. Somewhere in Japan I guess. I walked out from Japan toward Mexico after Harmonious and I don't know if anything was still open in Japan. I do know Rose & Crown pub was open, but they aren't now serving food, and some of the kiosks (the cooler kind that sell drinks, not the festival food kiosks) were open.

Is the monorail running at the end of EEH?

Yes, it was, at least it was from Epcot the day we stayed late. For the MK day, we took the TTC boat, and I didn't see the monorail running. It might be, I guess I'd look into that before I parked at Epcot.

Epcot was a ghost town. You could probably stay there the whole time and watch people unload the barges. MK was much stricter. Lots of wristband checks to change lands or do anything. You could probably get away with staying in front of the castle taking photos for a while.

There is no shopping. There were a few stands with drinks and pretzels.

Good to know about the food.

We just lucked into a 2 night DVC stay for our first 2 nights, which coincides with MK extended hours, so it looks like we'll be able to be there after all, yahoo! We're hoping to do Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner and then spend our evening riding all the rides 😁
