I was kind of looking forward to the VQ for Rise as we haven't to ride yet (stupid pandemic and closed borders lol) and we'll be there starting the 26th. Not looking forward to those lines but at least it opens up the opportunity to ride multiple times/day if we really want to.

Disney: "Starting Sept. 23, we will pause the use of virtual queue for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, and guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios may experience this incredible attraction using a traditional standby queue for the first time since it opened in 2019."

This only applies for Disney World. Disneyland the VQ will still be in place for now.

From the Parks Blog Post: "Virtual queues continue to be helpful with attraction access, merchandise launches, grand openings and more, and guests should continue to check the My Disney Experience app for the latest on how we’re using virtual queues across Walt Disney World Resort including its potential use at Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at a later date, or from time to time."
That's our second day at HS next week. So at least if we are not able to get a boarding group on our first day, we will be able to stand in line forever to ride it. That actually takes a lot of anxiety off of me to get a boarding group for the only ride my husband HAS to do.

Still no word on when G+ will start? Will they make ROTR fully standby and do this the day G+ starts?

"Pause" is an interesting word to use...

I feel this is just so more people are willing to spend the money on LL+ to ride it vs stand in line all day.
The way I think about it - the Virtual queue already included the entire ride capacity for the day. If more people can stand in line than it can handle - will they keep the park open to let them all get through? How does that work over at FoP? Do they stop folks from getting in line at some point, or do they let people get in line up to park close and just keep the ride open until everyone in line has ridden it?

The fact is, FOP just doesn't get lines that outstrip the capacity regularly - maybe on the busiest of days. A long line works as a natural gatekeeper.

Hey, the line is 20 minutes, let's jump in it!
Well, the line's 40 minutes, wanna do it? Okay!
Hmm, the line is an hour, maybe we should go ahead though.
The line is 90 minutes, thinking we should pass and try later.
The line is 2 hours! Not a chance!

Now, sure some will choose to still get in line, and for Rise, the threshhold is likely to be high - but there will be a cap. It gives people the choice too. I think this works out better than the constant worry/stress that comes with VQ.

During the first months that FoP was open, they did sometimes close the standby line prior to park closing time so that they could get everyone through within some reasonable time after close. That hadn't been a problem for quite some time prior to the pandemic, though, and I can't remember how early they closed the line.

I wonder what effect this will have on availability for Remy’s virtual queue. I’ve ridden ROTR enough times now I don’t have to do it every trip so was counting on that taking some of the 7am traffic and that Remy’s would be the easier queue to get into.

I hope RotR isn't too expensive for the LL. It might be worth it to just buy that and RD everything else in the park. You could be done by 10!
