Restaurant regrets

The only restaurant I remember really not liking and will never do again was 50s Prime Time Cafe. I recall the food being pretty good, and the 50s atmosphere was fun. It was the razzing of the wait staff that really got to me. My "cousin" was riding me pretty hard and quite frankly being insulting. My mom swore that he was flirting with me (I was 19 and still pretty cute:rotfl2:). But it got to me so much that I actually started to cry... Super embarrassing! I just don't think I would bother trying it again.
Poor thing! I also like the food a lot but not sure if I want to go back do to the razzing. They can get pretty mean and pushy. You aren't the first one who got upset and probably won't be the last:love:I think it's actually a place they send cast members to get out their frustrations lol!

Mama Melrose was a one and done for us. The service was horrible and the food was inedible. Coral Reef is another I'm in no hurry to go back to. The food wasn't as bad as I expected, but as soon as the doors open the fish smell is overwhelming. Gross.

I'm also very relieved to find out that I'm not the only one who thinks zebra domes are overrated!

Art Smith's Homecomin' is ridiculously overrated and overpriced. Been there twice; never again. The service is rushed. Their ubiquitous fried chicken (and the pot roast) is both greasy and bland. Honestly, you can get better fried chicken at Popeye's or some other fast food places.
Completely agree. They may have some very good items on the menu but the Fried Chicken is not one of them. Maybe it is because I live in the south and we have always had good places to eat fried chicken. It may have been that I was buying into the hype about the reviews online and it did not live up to that. Very overrated.

Admittedly we don't do a lot of table service dining when we're in WDW (we got for shorter trips so want to maximize what we like to do while there), but we decided to eat there a few years ago and I was ... underwhelmed. We had an ADR, but we still had to wait about 30 minutes to be seated (with so many other people) and then the "experience" seemed really rushed and loud (I sound like my Mother). It was then we realized that we'd just rather grab some QS food and we can stop trying to work around reservations (we waited outside for awhile because we didn't have enough time to do something else). It was just an expensive time suck.

Chicken Guy. Maybe it was the victim of high expectations, but the tenders were tough and flavorless. They apparently have 20 sauces because they are necessary. Mac n cheese was very good, so I would consider going back for that, but I'll stick with pizza or burgers for DS QS.

The other only bad meal I've had was a burger at the Pop Century food court, which I only ate because I was taking a midday break when it started downpouring. It was just bad, and the reason you need to be very picky around Disney burgers.

I've only been to BoG for dinner once and I loved the experience. The escargot, steak, and desserts along with the setting were worth $65. They did bring out my steak quickly, but the waitress realized I wasn't quite done with my app, apologized, and brought it back later. I'm sure they feel the pressure to turn tables but it wasn't a big problem for me.

I agree w/you about Chicken Guy. We went there for the 1st time in early June of this year. The line to just order was super long and you had to battle it out to get a table, too. The food was ok, but I don't understand what all of the hoop-lah is about this restaurant. It's not a place that I'd go out of my way to eat at again.

Oga's Cantina. I don't know if there was some sort of mistake, but our assigned "spot" was just a space to stand in the middle of the bar - not table or counter. And when we tried migrating over to an area to lean against or sit we were told to move. And even if we did have an assigned area, the drinks weren't that great, it was loud, and honestly just not a fun place have a drink. I rather spend the money on a nicer bar or lounge, or even a better drink somewhere at Epcot where I can stand outside. I think on paper it's a cool idea, but with how busy it is and how many people they try to get in and out it's really worth it.

That is common, especially with a small group. I was there during peak covid precautions and they were spacing people far apart in bar stools. At full capacity they seat multiple groups together plus have standing room.

Definitely BoG breakfast. Service was terrible and slow with the extra bonus of the food being like rubber.

Probably the only thing that has hit my 'never again' list.

Yes, and I probably should have mentioned that my visit was in Feb 2020 so before the shutdown and at full capacity. Not sure what it's like these days, but if it's back to full capacity I wouldn't go again. Also, this was technically at Disneyland but from what I've heard the two Galaxy Edges are 99% the same.

Boma (dinner). It just didn’t live up to the hype for me :confused3. DH and I are pretty adventurous eaters too. We much prefer Sanaa, Jiko, and Tiffins.

Also I don’t understand the obsession with the zebra domes (don’t come for me please :rotfl2:).
Their breakfast was good though!

I don't get Boma either. I have eaten here three times - and its never lived up to the hype (although since I was disappointed the first time, the next two times I had reasonable expectations and it was "not great for the money" but not "I was expecting something great, and paid a lot for dismal"

The Plaza in MK, December 2019. Absurdly crowded, food only average but expensive, and toilets outside and across the… well, plaza I suppose, technically in Tomorrowland. I mean, really?

Also the Polynesian Luau show food, again in December 2019. Decidedly mediocre (although we might have been influenced by the show itself as the actors all seemed to be phoning in their performances. From New York).

Another one who didn't like Ale and Compass breakfast. Maybe it was an "off" day-so many people love it. But my "side of fruit" consisted of 1 orange slice and 2 blueberries. Then my server kept leaving my food, then immediately running away-I had to flag down another server to find her and tell her that I wanted milk and sugar for my tea. Not a good experience.
Also, I didn't like Jungle Skipper Canteen, but partly that was my fault, because all I ordered was the Brazilian Cheese Bread, which wasn't a good meal by itself. Also, I was very disappointed that my server was just the standard "serve the food" type. There was no Skipper banter that I'd hoped for.

Those things stick with you. I'm making ADR's now and I'm still not sure if I want to go there or not:smooth:
Our favorite TS in HS is Sci-Fi now. Its just such a chill, fun atmosphere. (Can you tell my vibe yet? ;)) And IMO they are not the typical Disney burgers. Those burgers are delicious, and I'm not going to say no to an alcoholic milkshake...

Most TS restaurants don't use the standard Disney burger, they have more leeway to source fresh meat.

Not trying to change your mind, but I've seen multiple reports that Prime Time has toned down the razzing in the past few years. I'm guessing they got enough complaints like yours to change things. We went in July and our server mentioned no elbows on the table and that was it. It was otherwise like a regular restaurant. My kids even got Clean Plate stickers even though they definitely did not clean their plates lol. I was fine with it because my 6yo can be a little sensitive and she probably would not have liked it if the server started teasing her too much. So sorry about your bad experience!!
