Restaurant regrets

I would suggest you look at the menus and see what you are interested in and give things a chance to make up your own mind. You are always going to hear good and bad about any restaurant. There are some we love that others don’t and vice versa.
I have! I have already chosen my places I was just curious

Art Smith's Homecomin' is ridiculously overrated and overpriced. Been there twice; never again. The service is rushed. Their ubiquitous fried chicken (and the pot roast) is both greasy and bland. Honestly, you can get better fried chicken at Popeye's or some other fast food places.

Ohana (dinner): food quality and rushed/rude service.
Deluxe Burger: food quality with burger and bun broken into pieces like it had been dropped in the kitchen and shoved back on the plate.
Sci-Fi: love the theming and movies but food consistently poor esp appetizers, pasta, and steak. Just stick with the burger and make it a burger joint already.

We fell out of live with Les Halles as a breakfast choice because:
They took away all of the outside seating, inside seating was uncomfortable, hard to get, and too close together,
And we really missed the Cultural Reps! I don't care to speak French with someone from Omaha.
The food was ok, but the above reasons killed the experience for us.

Had lunch at BOG under the old menu and found it an odd mish/mash of TS & QS. Even though we had reservations, you stand in line in a dark/stuffy hallway until you get to the ordering kiosk. The Disney person seemed annoyed everyone wasn't punching in their orders fast enough. Menus are displayed on multiple screens and clearly those around us were also using it for the first time and you had to figure out what was where to place your order. Then you help yourself to beverages/silverware and find your own table. They bring your food to you when ready. Food was just very average and have no idea what some think it is such an amazing place to eat. Have zero plans to return regardless of what is on the current menu.

Ate lunch at Sci-Fi since the place next door was closed for renovation. Didn't have a reservation but were able to get one of those regular tables around the back with only a short wait. The movie clips won't mean much to anyone under the age of 50 since they are mostly from old TV shows or movies of that era. The inside seems dingy and in need or a makeover. Food was just OK for lunch, but would not go back.

Unlike many others we enjoyed eating at Ohana's. This was back in 2019 before the recent menu changes. Food was very good and had no issue with service. I think some don't realize the service format and think they will order from a menu and wait x minutes while the food is prepared. Since it is a fixed menu, the food arrives in a set order and works out very well if you happen to have small children who don't understand having to wait for food at the typical restaurant. We never felt rushed. The newest menu doesn't have much that appeals to us so won't be going back.

With any Disney restaurant, you need to review the current menu to see if they offer items your party might want. Some people just seem to pick a restaurant and then are surprised it doesn't have what they like or the format wasn't what they were expecting.

Le Cellier- Crammed in a dark spot, needed our phone light to see our meals. Rushed the whole meal (second time we tried, same outcome). Steak was good, just not anywhere close to $50 good. Not sure on the quality of the meat they use to be honest. Apps ok, dessert ok. Most overhyped spot in all of Disney IMHO
They could use a refresh of the place, actually could have used one 10 years ago

Chicken Guy. Maybe it was the victim of high expectations, but the tenders were tough and flavorless. They apparently have 20 sauces because they are necessary. Mac n cheese was very good, so I would consider going back for that, but I'll stick with pizza or burgers for DS QS.

The other only bad meal I've had was a burger at the Pop Century food court, which I only ate because I was taking a midday break when it started downpouring. It was just bad, and the reason you need to be very picky around Disney burgers.

I've only been to BoG for dinner once and I loved the experience. The escargot, steak, and desserts along with the setting were worth $65. They did bring out my steak quickly, but the waitress realized I wasn't quite done with my app, apologized, and brought it back later. I'm sure they feel the pressure to turn tables but it wasn't a big problem for me.

Too many to even list.

As a PP posted "nothing bad, but never stands out as a great meal. "
This is the best you can hope for IMO and maybe you are surprised on occasion.

For me things went down will in year 2 of the DDP - up until then there were some amazing restaurant experiences IMO
With DDP the restaurants got a set amount and had to work within it.
Prices started to rise to make the DDP look like a better value and to also subsidize the DDP IMO.
DDP also caused the restaurants to be totally booked pretty much all time
Some of the more "unusual" or interesting items were removed from menus do to waste.
People ordered the most expensive thing on the menu not knowing what it actually was and would then send it back.
Those items were removed.
Disney started to standardize and things came from a central location - for a while every restaurant had lamb shanks prepared slightly differently.
Chefs are no longer planning menus or having specials - they are line cooks and get the ingredients from Disney

I tend to find the things not on the DDP are your best bet - for example the appetizers.

People tell me its gotten better in the last few years but I find that hard to believe.

Thank you!! I was underimpressed but everyone else loved it. I thought I was the only one who thought they were just meh.

Boma (dinner). It just didn’t live up to the hype for me :confused3. DH and I are pretty adventurous eaters too. We much prefer Sanaa, Jiko, and Tiffins.

Also I don’t understand the obsession with the zebra domes (don’t come for me please :rotfl2:).
Their breakfast was good though!
I thought the zebra domes were pretty bland. Ok, but nothing special.

The only restaurant I remember really not liking and will never do again was 50s Prime Time Cafe. I recall the food being pretty good, and the 50s atmosphere was fun. It was the razzing of the wait staff that really got to me. My "cousin" was riding me pretty hard and quite frankly being insulting. My mom swore that he was flirting with me (I was 19 and still pretty cute:rotfl2:). But it got to me so much that I actually started to cry... Super embarrassing! I just don't think I would bother trying it again.
