Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

@GADisneyDad14 , By any chance do you have a photo of what the second floor looks like (above the area you just shared with us)? I'm trying to come to terms with the possibility of not having a patio or balcony and I am curious about the sliding door.
Last trip we were unable to get a 3rd floor rooms and settled on 2nd floor. I promise we didn’t mind it at all!

Yes, due to the monorail station closure, there is bus service between the Poly and MK...also there a water taxi between the Poly and MK, or you can take the monorail or ferry to the TTC and make the 10 minute walk to the Poly.

Since the bungalows were built, the area of the beach with view of the fireworks was significantly reduced. Everyone will be watching for the same slice of beach.

Thanks much !!!

I want this for my upcoming stay at Poly in August. I cannot find info on it anywhere or on tikiman’s site. I have called Disney Recreation twice (and waited on hold for 2-hours both times) to book this but was told by CM that the Poly does not have “cabanas”. I’m thinking they are not aware of the rentable seating.
They are called the Oasis patios- you call the same number you would call to reserve cabanas at the Grand Floridian but these are just a reserved seating area. I believe there are 3 of them and I paid roughly 75 to reserve one for late august.

Thanks for posting, looks great! A few days ago on FB, Tikiman had posted some pics of new patio furniture outside of Tonga, but those chairs were different and very uncomfortable looking. These chairs look like a great place to relax with a morning coffee or afternoon beverage :drinking:.

Yeah, the non-Tonga patio furniture that’s out now looks like what was in the images Disney shared awhile ago. Tonga appears to be the only one with that different style. Not entirely surprising since those rooms had a little different style before, and I’m assuming will now, although TBD I guess.

Hi,

We have a Standard Room (2 queens - 1 daybed) booked for 8/29 to 9/4.

I requested a 3rd floor room in Samoa on the Laval pool side facing the Grand Floridian. Per Tikiman's page this is considered a "Standard Room".

Is Samoa a Standard Room longhouse. Just want to make sure my request is legit.

According to touring plans, all those rooms are pool/marina view.

Years ago, Samoa used to have some rooms designated as standard. But I think that changed at least 5 or 6 years ago. I always book standard and Samoa was the first building I ever stayed in. Since then, I’ve asked the front desk, and I’ve been told there are no longer standard rooms in Samoa.

Can you hear the fireworks' music from the theme park view rooms in the Tuvalu or Hawaii longhouses?

No--the music is not piped in to the rooms and standing on your balcony might, and that is if you have exceptional hearing, provide a scant amount of sound here and there.

Your best bet is to find a speaker outside (beach or boat dock) and hope that MK (speakers are--or used to be--controlled from there) has the sound turned on.

Alternatively, if Hawaii gets up and running in its prior CL form--the music will be piped into the lounge area and you can view the fireworks from there with cordials and snacks.

So I could write a novel on the different ebbs and flows of Poly fireworks music. Over the years the quality and volume of the music has varied.

In more recent times, they have had the audio around the main beach in front of the Hawaii longhouse dialed in really well. Not long before closing they had installed some new speakers at the waters edge and it was fantastic audio quality from Hawaii.

I have also been there when a lightning strike took out audio all over and it wasn’t a great show.

But generally speaking I’ve been impressed with the audio level in more recent times. Note, I have not been since they restated fireworks so I’m speaking from pre Covid experience, not current.

Tuvalu will be different. Maybe some OK audio for the far end rooms, but I wouldn’t bank on that being as good a show than being out on the beach.

That was my take on it too! Otherwise, why not just end the Poly-Epcot bus service when they discontinue it at the Contemporary/GF. Or sooner since the TTC is walkable. Plus- the “mid August” instead of an exact date makes it sound more fluid. Fingers crossed!

This is what confuses me too. How would the bus service end if the monorail won’t be running to Poly yet? I am one of the ones with a late August Poly stay but never got an email about the monorail closure.
