Oh thank you for this insight - perhaps it's not worth the additional few hundred

We always book standard at the Poly. Rarotonga has a lot of standard rooms. We love being so close to the GCH and the Oasis pool.

Per Scott Gustin, the monorail to Epcot is opening on July 18th. They will direct bus service from Poly to Epcot in "mid-August"

NEW: The EPCOT Monorail will officially reopen on Sunday, July 18. The EPCOT Monorail last operated in March 2020 when the parks closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Disney: "Operating daily, service will begin one hour before EPCOT park open and end one hour after EPCOT park close."

As part of this change, direct bus service to EPCOT will no longer be available from these hotels (and effective dates): Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa – July 25 Disney’s Contemporary Resort – July 25 Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort – mid-August

Any word on when the Monorail station is opening back up? I have a reservation for lunch at Kona Cafe for my late August trip. Was hoping to take the monorail from Magic Kingdom to Poly. If it's not open, I'm assuming our options would be bus or monorail to the Transportation Center with a walk over to Poly, correct? If we take the monorail to the Transportation center, I'm assuming we could take either the resort or express.

Rumor is the monorail will reopen sometime in September. Many of use with stays in late August have already received emails letting us know the monorail station and the front entrance the Grand Ceremonial House will still be closed during our stays.

Travel options would be...

• Bus between MK and Poly
• Water taxi between MK and Poly
• Monorail to TCC and walk
• Ferry to TTC and walk
• Just plain walk from MK to GF to Poly...in late Aug., I don't recommend this

I saw the rumors about this this morning and it's really exciting. My family may not have the Poly monorail station this August, but we won't have to bus/drive to Epcot.

I wonder if they expect Poly guest to be able to monroail to the TTC by "mid-August"?

good news. I heard a lot of the monorail drivers had been furloughed. Park capacity is way up too. They need to get thier rears in gear and get the station done ASAP. Guest are paying a premium price to stay at a “monorail resort”. Sept opening is not acceptable; especially with the resort opening next week.

I hope that the bus service stopping in mid-August means that the monorail stop will be open. Why continue it for an extra month or so and then stop it if the monorail stop isn't open.

All of the posts praising the wonderful standard view rooms are making me question my choice. When I booked I had a choice of standard and lagoon with almost $200 difference per night. I chose lagoon and now I'm not sure that I should have. Standard is no longer available.

@GADisneyDad14 , By any chance do you have a photo of what the second floor looks like (above the area you just shared with us)? I'm trying to come to terms with the possibility of not having a patio or balcony and I am curious about the sliding door.

How can I request a type of room but not specific room? For example, first floor. I have a touring plans subscription but it seems they request a specific room?

We always book standard view at the Poly. I think all the standard views are really nice! I would never book standard view at the YC/BC because most of those standard views are awful. That said, your lagoon view is going to be amazing! Enjoy it!

That was my take on it too! Otherwise, why not just end the Poly-Epcot bus service when they discontinue it at the Contemporary/GF. Or sooner since the TTC is walkable. Plus- the “mid August” instead of an exact date makes it sound more fluid. Fingers crossed!

We always book standard view at the Poly. I think all the standard views are really nice! I would never book standard view at the YC/BC because most of those standard views are awful. That said, your lagoon view is going to be amazing! Enjoy it!

Yes, we've had terrible standard views at YC/BC. So much so that I've stopped booking standard no matter where we stay.
