What does it look like at Universal now with the new masking policy?

Here now, parks Friday through today. Echo everyone else that has replied. On Friday, people were asked to wear masks on rides (before new policy). Saturday and today, very few masks and kids not asked to wear one. Rides being filled at full capacity with no skipped seats or space. There are a few spacing tapes left on the ground but those are being ignored. Food and drink/kiosk lines are crazy long.

Are they still keeping capacity lowered and maxing out? It doesn’t seem like it, but I have no idea.

I am not sure about overall park capacity. It didn’t reach capacity, per the app, yesterday. But it was the most crowded we have seen it since reopening (we came twice last summer, week of Thanksgiving and MLK weekend for perspective). We have express passes from on-site resort but even some of the express lines were 30plus minutes mid day. It was a lot less crowded in the evening.

They did, it was announced on Thursday night that it was starting Saturday. Some people were trying to take advantage of it on Fri, but Universal was still enforcing it on Fri. LOL
Thanks for the clarification.

I go next Monday and Tuesday and everything is changing so quickly LOL

Correct- they will not tell kids to wear one. Some kids are. Many not.
I was curious about this. My husband and I are vaccinated and my youngest wouldn't have had to wear one anyway because she's under 3. My son didn't like the idea of having to wear a mask, but I may try to encourage him to indoors anyways because prepandemic he managed to bring flu home from Disney.

It’s wall to wall people here. We took the boat over from royal pacific this morning thinking we’d get early entry into studios (started at 8). The line at 7:30 was past the NBC store and legacy store in citywalk.

we gave up and went to stand in line at islands. I could see the gates at 8:13 and by 8:15 the line was across the bridge and backed up into citywalk.

that said DS got the first ride on hulk- literally only one on the car. And DD managed velocicoaster (got an eh from her- this is 15 right there. It takes a lot to impress her right now). The park was not as packed as I thought it would be as the day wore on. Very few masks, but all the staff were wearing them.

The crowd at 8:15

We are here now. Crowds have been totally manageable. No one is wearing masks except the employees. Maybe 1-3% of guests are wearing masks. It was actually really weird because we didn’t even realize we weren’t wearing masks until maybe an hour or two had passed.

Arriving next Monday for five day stay at Portofino. Looking forward to it and long-overdue! Hope the crowds stay manageable.
Edited to add: Have to figure out a way to change my photo below. The toddler is now 17 and will be joining us with one of his friends! My older son graduated from college last year. Time flies.. no more Call of Duty (COD) either. Thanks for keeping us posted with mask updates!
