Lol we’ll see what he does. He loves his food but is picky about textures so I actually bet he’ll dip his pointer finger in and that’s it. He likes food to be separated out into chunks so a big cake might overwhelm him. Most likely we’ll have to break it into pieces to show him what it is
My son grabbed the candle on his first birthday cake, burned his finger, and we both went to his room and cried while his party guests had cake.

Thank you all for the replies and advice! There are a lot of airlines to choose from including SW. I admit I was surprised with all the “no carry-on” and checked bag charges. I did just create SW RR accounts for each of us. Should I be looking to book roundtrip flights or each leg separately? The biggest problem is I am not certain about the exact dates I want (or even the trip itself) but I wanted to first map it out and see approximately how much it would be and what is involved with the booking process. That's when it hit me that I'm in over my head, lol. Sounds like I need to figure it out by March 31. If I remember correctly, last time I booked a flight, I actually called the airline and booked it over the phone. Does that seem crazy or what?
If you’re going to fly Southwest there’s no rush to book by 3/31 because they always provide the benefit the others are only temporarily providing (no change fee). Of course, the longer you wait, the greater the chance that the lowest fares will no longer be available. Southwest’s website is pretty user-friendly, so I’d just take some time playing around with different dates and flight options to see what you come up with. As for round trip vs separate legs, I usually only do separate legs if I’m flying different airlines for each, but others may have more advice on that front.

I probably saw that and forgot, was just thinking of the pics from the past couple of weeks. That kid is a way better eater of a variety of things than I ever have been and ever will be, which is fantastic. However I'm perfectly content with what I eat and what I've tried and not liked or not tried because I know I won't like it (texture, smell, etc.).
That was the main reason we did the 100 different foods. We wanted him used to a large variety of textures and tastes. I’m a picky eater so sometimes I only eat some of what he’s eating and make something else for myself on the side. He eats a lot of things I don’t eat.

Oh geez lol. That’s not good. We haven’t decided if we’ll actually let him blow out the candle or not. His smash cake won’t have a candle but the big cake might. I’m not really sure what to do

I was hoping to show them a picture or something and see if they can replicate it. I tried to picky an easy design. We’re doing trains for his birthday! A candyland birthday would be awesome!
Aww! Great theme. DS was into trains for a long time. A number of his birthdays had train themes, Thomas, Dinosaur Train, real steam trains, etc. This was his 4th birthday cake.

I registered for the SW A-list promo and my account now shows “A-list earned through 6/30/21.”
My flight is in just under 36 hours from now but I don’t see an assigned boarding group and if I try to check in, it says check in is 24 hours before flight.
Should I already have a boarding group with A-list?

There is some discussion in the SW thread that the A-list promo does not apply to existing reservations.

Just wanted to check that transferring them to SW is pretty straight forward and quick.
I seem to transfer UR to SW just about as fast as I earn them. Once you have your SW RR account linked to your UR account as a transfer partner it is almost always instantaneous. One time on a Sunday it took an hour, every other time I've transferred it has been in my SW account before as soon as I could change tabs and refresh. I'm actually going to be transferring again this week before the schedule comes out.

“P2” just sm’d to close his United biz card. This was his only Chase biz card left. If I get the Brilliant in the next week we can’t handle a second MSR with me still trying to maximize grocery spend with the CF 5x and plat 10x so he will have no Chase biz cards for a while. When the time comes to get another one months from now, he’ll still be able to use the same log in info, right?

We were deciding between trains and planes. I let Dh decide. I told him I’m either dressing ds as a pilot or conductor for smashing the cake and he chose conductor lol. He’s gonna wear overalls, a conductor hat, and a red bandana

What about a train whistle? https://www.amazon.com/Wooden-Whist...keywords=train+whistle&qid=1616938532&sr=8-11 We gave these out in gift bags at my older son's 3rd birthday party held in a model train store. All of the parents loved us /s.

This is a blast from CC woes of the past. I had been locked on AA after that snafu but never terminated. In January 2021 I tested a charity donation, which went through. Figured this meant I had been unlocked? Woe is me, I tried to make a reservation today and it's telling me I can't use the miles until I call customer service.... Send me CC good thoughts as I make this call. I'd really like those 447,000 miles.....

That's cute.... keeping track like that...my Dsis kept a serious list for both her kiddos too..... they both eat lots of things too, maybe that's why!

Again.... AA vacations...once you book something (looking at hotel) it's not changeable, right? And if I book a car + hotel (bc I have to) I can ignore the car pickup no penalty? This is so tough. I have some points I want to use, but b/c things are still so fluid/changeable on the travel front (for me at least) I can't click thru yet..... has anyone here had the chance to change it or cancel at all? just looking for DP's here.....

I can confirm you do not need to pick up the rental but I have used my hotel stays so I can’t speak to the change or cancel.

Fingers crossed that’s the case! I can check in at 5:55pm this evening. I’ll let you all know what happens.
Please do. My interpretation of the fine print does make it sound like you have to register for the promotion first and then book your flight:

"Registration and promotional A-List status confirmation must be completed prior to booking of travel to receive A-List benefits"

"Valid on new reservations booked and flown within the Promotional Time Period only."

But, I'm not sure how they can keep track of that in the sense of you are now a regular/normal A-list member, so it should apply to any flight reservation "within the Promotional Time Period only" (regardless of when the reservation was made).
