Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

For those of you who had stayed recently to rope drop hs what time have you been walking over ? When we are there right now it says hs will open at 10am if we want to be there for rope drop what time would you get to the park??? I read somewhere and I’m not sure how accurate this is that if you take the boat you miss this massive line to get in because the boat has a different path access to the parks??? I guess compared to people parking or by skylines. Again I read this one time not sure how valid it is. We usually walk over just wasn’t sure our best course of action we haven’t been since covid thank you

Mid January we left at 7:45 for a 9am opening, We walked . They held us in lines until 8:15 then let us through both security and turnstiles. We did several RRs, then ToT, SDD, MMRR, TSMM and our time popped up around 10:15 and we did our RoR.
We got a stand by for Brown Derby at11 and it was quiet in there.

We plan on the same thing this month, both times our transfer day and after lunch go grab our bags and Uber to CR. CR has always had a room pretty quick in all the years arriving, Fingers crossed🤞🏻

We were there this past week and Hollywood Studios was letting guests into the park at least 1/2 hour before the posted opening time. If you wait until the official opening then lines for rides will already be long - as we found out. :)

I would leave the resort at least 50 minutes before posted park opening time if I was planning to walk there.

The boat begins running one hour before park opening. You should get to the boat dock at least ten minutes before the hour. The first boat fills up fast and if you don't get on the first boat then I would start walking. The second boat will get you there before the park opens but won't get you before the lines start to get long. :)

Hello - Is there are hard limit on how many people they are allowing into Stormalong Bay? I saw a post about waiting behind a gate, but I couldn't see if it came from having a hard number Disney will allow in. This will make a trip this summer be harder to get in and get a spot inside the gate - correct? Thanks in advance.

I returned Wednesday from YC. There is only one "entrance" opened during peak pool times. If you try to enter a different entrance you are directed to the main entrance. The castmember walks your party to your chairs (or table), reminding you of pool rules and to not move chairs around to maintain distancing. We did not have to wait to enter, but perhaps that is done when all chairs or tables are full. They were not near full when we arrived.

Anyone who has eaten at Ale & Compass recently - how crowded did the restaurant “feel”? I am super Covid-nervous and not a fan of indoor dining. I know we can get A&C to go, but a “real” sit-down meal sounds absolutely decadent for our trip this weekend. I wondered if, being at a resort, A&C was maybe a little less crowded? Or were all (socially distanced) tables filled? I know this is a super subjective question, so thanks for any perspectives!

Tables were more spaced out than usual, but they were all full (breakfast 8:40a walk up). We had a large group in the booth directly behind us, which felt a bit close for my personal taste. We decided to do to-go after that. YMMV, and definitely subjective. Have a great trip!

We walked over on 3/2. 9am opening, we left YC at 745 or so (2 adults, fast walkers). We were maybe 30 groups back in line to enter and were let into the park at 8:15. I did not see anyone coming in from the skyliner, buses or selfpark at that time. While I dont know for sure about the boat timing or line, we were able to do Slinky, TSMM, Smugglers run and RNR before 9am official opening. Wait times really exploded after 9am. I would suggest walking to better control your arrival time. If you leave even earlier, you can be even closer to the front making any boat line advantage moot. Being 10th or 50th into the park is really a washout, in my opinion.

Does anyone have a photo of the most recent (March) "activities" board for YC? Are they still updated monthly?
TIA

Anyone know if you can enter World Showcase early to have breakfast in France? Wife and I did it about two years ago. It was really nice.

:welcome: to this forum!

Not sure there has been a definitive answer to your question, other than the news that guests have been let into EPCOT 30-45 minutes before official opening time. Hopefully someone who has actually gone to the French bakery in the morning will report back.

Booked my first stay at YC. I'm so excited. I stayed at BC in a King Room on my first solo trip in 2016 and loved it so I'm wanting to see which room decor I like better. May 16 -20, followed by 3 nights at Portofino Bay at Universal.

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15.

Here are the construction pictures that I took this morning

Thanks for giving a heads up on that. Kinda ugly! Hope they are done whatever they are doing soon!

yes! If you look through the trees at the very top you can kinda see the top of the dolphin.View attachment 559839

Thanks so much for posting these. Nothing to write home about, eh?

I'm glad you had lovely views around the corner from your balcony!

::yes::

Was able to stay in an awesome YC room last September. Can't wait to go back to BC from 6/1 - 5! It was a little less expensive with the AP discount, so even though I love YC's decor & location, I'm super excited to be back at the resort in general. We're usually at BWV so it'll be fun to see things from across the lake!

I am torn about my HS rope drop plan. For a 9am opening should I walk over around 7:45am or take the 8am (ish) boat? I read a post of a visitor saying they took a boat at 8am and they used a side entrance by the dock and passed everyone else in line for temperature check. 🤷‍♂️

:welcome: to this forum!

When is your trip?

I agree with the posters who suggest walking to Hollywood Studios since that way the travel time is under your control. The boats have limited seating capacity and even when you are out at the boat dock, you may not get onto the next boat that arrives.

I have such mixed feelings about my potential trip in June. I feel like I keep coming to terms with, and adjusting to, various reduced offerings and inconveniences only to have more negative factors come into play. We booked a deluxe because with the ridiculously reduced hours we figured we would make lemonade and spend more time at the resort. I will be so pissed if we find ourselves standing outside the gate waiting for a spot to open up.

Do you have an upcoming trip booked?

Yes, there is probably a hard limit, but I don't know what that is.

It is possible that whatever the number is, it could change in the future if improvements in the COVID situation result in loosened restrictions.

🤞

I'm excited to be coming back to catch up on all the Yacht and Beach club goings on. Although I haven't really posted, I have always found these threads to be really helpful!

Original trip was 3/2020 (BC). Rescheduled to 12/2020 (BCV) but weren't quite ready to travel then. Now with both adults vaccinated and ADRs and plane tickets in hand, I feel comfortable actually making plans. We'll be at YC 4/22-4/27 for a belated 10th birthday (she will be 11+1 month) girls only trip. Can't wait!

:welcome: back!

I'm glad that it looks like your trip is going to happen this time!

Speaking of cabanas, what is the likelihood of a cabana being canceled for our trip at the beginning of April? Currently they are all booked up, but hoping we might get lucky (though I also recognize this is bumping up to spring break / Easter)! Has anyone had luck in booking a cabana that was previously booked (i.e., you tried booking but not availability but called back and it was then available)?

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1, Post 15.

I hope you are able to call back and find a cancellation that will work for you.

:thumbsup2

Thanks for the information. Was it hard to get a reservation? Planning on reserving one in May, our 60 day booking window hasn't opened yet, but I've been curious about how hard it is to get one. Thanks!

:welcome: to this thread!

Are you staying at YC or BCV?

The cabanas do seem pretty popular, and as others have pointed out, since there are only 4 of them, they can book quickly. If you are interested, you probably should book at the 60 day mark.

:cool2:

I’m pretty proud of myself right now. Trying to convince my DH to book another trip before we renew our APs, I gave him the amt we paid for our APs, the cost if we would’ve bought tickets, plus the amt of trips (days) we’ve gone, equally out to amt we would’ve paid thereby saving with more trips. None of these calculations factored in our resorts, foods, etc., of course, because that would be counterproductive. I like to call this Disney math, where I’ve somehow convince my DH we save money by going more. :p
He booked us again at the YC for May16-22.:flower:

Nicely done!!!

I'll add you to the list.

:teacher:

Besides movies, what other activities does YC offer for kids. Does anyone have a sample schedule? Are boat rentals still happening? (I think the answer is no but doesn't hurt to ask!)

Do you have a trip this month?

We are staying at BCV in late August. How far is the walk to DHS? I agree, I think walking makes the most sense since you have control over that.

We are staying at BCV 5/05-5/08. I’m planning on MK as our first park day. How have the busses been from BCV to MK? Any recommendations?

I would plan on 25 minutes. There is a shortcut that takes you by the Boardwalk pool area (now with less clown) which will shave about 5 minutes from the walk.

:cool1:

Has anyone who has been to Martha’s Vineyard recently? I saw on DFB they were offering two shakes from Beaches & Cream. I am wondering if they are still offering those?

I see that the park hours for my week in May were just released. Now I'm debating about altering my arrival day plan to try to hit a few things in HS instead of trying to make it to MK. It will probably be mid-afternoon by the time I get to the room and get the ECV so MK seems as if it might be a bit too rushed that first day. Plus, I could get used to the ECV on a slow ride over to HS.

After lots of thinking, having a balcony is a priority to us so I’m trying to change our reservation from BC to YC (have to do it by phone) the wait is 90 minutes. Is the wait this long because of reduced cast members?
ugh.

OK- we know where your stay will be. When is the trip?

:goodvibes

I’ll keep it simple. 1 mile or about a 20 minute leisurely walk.

I‘ll make it more complex. Exit BCVs main lobby, left out the door, first left to path that goes by the BC resort. Follow path until you hit the crescent lake path. Head towards BW. Take a left just past the green, go past wyland galleries. Quick right past the health club and arcade towards the BW pool. Bear left around the pool and you‘ll run into the path to HS. You can’t miss the path otherwise you’ll be in the canal.
10 minute walk to this point and another 10 minutes once you reach the path!
