Increased Offer on Amex Blue Cash Preferred - Expiring 12/10/2020!
As best I can tell this is an all-time high offer for the BCP card which is popular around these parts due to its 6% Cashback at grocery stores. It is available via support links on DISchurners.

The offer is to earn $300 back (in the form of a statement credit) after spending $3k in purchases in the first 6 months - also of note is that the annual fee is waived in year 1 ($95 thereafter). So if you got this card and met the entire MSR in the grocery category you'd earn $480 on your $3k in purchases (16% return).

The usual offer is $250 w/ no waived AF so this is almost twice as good as that. Amex increased offers don't tend to stick around past their expiration date so if you want this offer, I'd recommend grabbing it soon!
FYI - this increased offer on the Amex BCP is set to expire tomorrow. I believe historically, when Amex posts dates like this they stick to it.

Here's a link to the DISchurners page with some links to that offer.

I had an invitation to participate through Acurian Health. They offered up to $1250, but I didn't do it.
I had an offer through the U of Pittsburgh, dont remember if there was money involved, but declined because I am actively avoiding exposure, and I think they want people who are out in the community with the opportunity to catch the virus. Edit to add - this was the Moderna one but Pitt appears to be doing the AZ one also..

Ex-smoker DH is in a study there about an experimental vaccine for lung cancer. Not sure how they will continue following him once we move.

I've always lived near big cities and taken for granted that there were major hospitals around, but it is a comfort. My sister and her DH thought about building a house in Deep Creek, Maryland when they first retired, but their doctor DS told them they would be at least an hour away from a hospital and it was not the best idea,

For the one I'm in (AZ), they just ask about your self-described level of exposure at your first visit. Then when they compare the two groups (those who were vaccinated and those who got the saline shot) and see how many people in each group got covid it should be an apples-to-apples comparison. Besides my trip to FL, my risk is probably pretty darn low as I work remotely, my kids are in school virtually, not going to church, etc. Basically only leaving the house for groceries (and Visa gift cards!).

And my arm hurts and I'm mildly achy today (after first dose I was achy and had a headache) so I'm hoping I got the good stuff!

I signed up for studies related to diabetes through NIH. I guess they share this stuff because I get all kinds of different offers, but so far no diabetes related ones in my area.

There are a lot of good hospitals in the DMV so you should be covered well here.

I imagine that would be us, slightly less than an hour from there. Though in the winter it is the worst drive ever and I wouldn't want to do that drive often in the winter. Love the Deep Creek area, but I am content with visiting, lol, I would not want to live there full time. Though I have a friend that was originally from that area and she actually drives back for her kids doctor's appointments because she wanted to go back to her childhood doctor. Seemed crazy to me. lol

I received new Sapphire cards in the mail with the contactless technology. The number is the same but the 3 digit code is different. 😢 So I guess that means my old cards will no longer work, right?

Just try being the teacher in virtual learning. I talk to myself all day and stare at a screen of icons :(

Oh, I definitely feel for the teachers. I tried hard at the beginning to keep my kids' cameras on, telling them that no one can teach to a bunch of icons with no interaction. It would be boring for everyone involved. But they cannot require it here, so the vast majority of cameras are off. Eventually I had to give up that battle.

Here's your friendly reminder that Southwest Airlines next schedule release is expected to occur TOMORROW on THURSDAY December 10th. For those planning to snag flights, set those calendar reminders so you don't forget!
  • Currently SW is offering flights through 4/11/21 and this next release will take their schedule out to 8/16/21.

What time does the calendar generally open for booking?

autopayments may work for a couple more months before it stops working with the old code. if thats what u meant.

If it were me, I would not want to cut it this close. There has been inconsistent DPs recently of (potentially) having to wait 30 days before applying for any SW personal card - even if applying for a different card than you cancelled. The new bonus is so lucrative, I wouldn't risk losing hundreds (thousands if doing a MDD) for the gain of < $50 in annual bonus points personally.

EDIT: Do you know your actual card anniversary date? (This would be the day you originally were approved 4-5 years ago)... There is possibly a way to win this by manipulating your statement date but things would have to sync up perfectly for you in a small window.

Thanks for the response! I'm not sure of my actual anniversary date and honestly, I like to keep things simple so I'm not going to worry about the 3,000 points. I went ahead and SM'd them to close the account yesterday morning. And I'll apply next month and keep you all posted!

I've been busy work work this week and Chase called me yesterday but I couldn't answer. Then called back again later while I was still working and still didn't answer, but they left a message stating it was regarding the message I sent. They did end up closing the account today. Any ideas what they were calling for? I've always closed account by mail begore, not knowing you could do it online sometimes.

Seems like a good plan to me! :) I have no idea why Chase would call on that... they will (and obviously did) cancel via SM so I'd just let it go.

Does anyone know how much credit line is needed for a CIC? I want to change my CIU into one. And, Staples qualifies as Office Supply, correct? My CIU only has $4k and I can move some in if needed.

I have a few things I get at Staples on a monthly basis and it's probably a good idea to collect a few extra UR's by doing shop through Chase and delivery. Never bothered before as the store is a half mile or so away. But a dollar is a dollar.

I think it's $5k. And yes, Staples counts.
