Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

BeachClub drink dispenser.JPG

I took a picture of one of the two drink dispensers at the Beach Club Marketplace when we were there in October.

I couldn't get close to the dispenser to take a better picture because a long table blocked off the area to anyone except cast members. The dispensers did not have a dedicated water spout. The lemonade spout included a tab for water, which requires the CM to run some water first before filling the cup.

My husband just surprised me with a weekend trip for our 22nd wedding anniversary next weekend. We were married 22 years ago on the day after Thanksgiving, November 27th. In particular, we are eating at Wine Bar George but again staying at our favorite YC. Here's the weird part.......we've been staying at YC since 2002 and I just realized we have never had a stay that did not include CL. I'm a little nervous about navigating my stay without the convenience of the lounge especially when it's a last minute trip like this. This should be very interesting!!

We normally stay CL too so have had to adjust our habits for our post reopening stays. For us, we’ve been ordering various things from Garden Grocer, mainly breakfast items, some fruit, adult beverages/water, and a few munchies. Create your own CL, so to speak. We’ve missed the lounge and the CMs, but so far it’s been an ok substitute. :-)

Enjoy your trip, and happy anniversary!

Coming to you live from SAB cabana #3 (our favorite). They asked if we wanted to cancel when we checked in at 10am as they are building some sort of tower right next to cabana #4 using power tools, but we are OK with potential noise.

We received some water and our fruit tray, will head to Epcot for food and wine lunch now then back for the afternoon in the cabana!

What on earth are they building?

Enjoy your cabana day!

Welcome to the Cheap side! Somewhere on the internet is a recipe for making hot dogs in a coffee pot. Of course now with the pod coffee makers you're going to have to find "Pod style" hot dogs to try that.

On page 36 of my cookbook entitled, "Livin' fancy on the cheap at Plop Century" you'll find my recipe for 'Ironin' board grilled cheese'. The secret is to used aged kraft singles and a slice of Oscar Mayer bologna for that gourmet touch. A lot of magic happens when little butter and some foil meet up with a hot Disney iron.

None other than Gordon Ramsay is a huge fan of my 'Spray cheese on crackers' appetizer. To make that "ritzy" you can fancy that up with an olive slice or an M&M on top. If you're out of M&M's check under the bed. Housekeeping usually leaves a few for the hungry guest.

Whatever you do, don't try to melt the shredded cheese on nachos with the blow dryer in the room. I've never seen cheese fly so far! All the toppings too...

You might be able to ask for a microwave in your room. That opens up a whole world of five star dining options, like hot pockets, and anything Totinos! Having a microwave is like going to a dessert party at Tony's Town Square Restaurant. You can have the jumbo bag of pot stickers delivered from Costco and plow through that all week!

All of that in room gourmet cooking is going to wreak havoc on your digestive system so you're going to need some fiber. My go to is celery. You can use it in your Bloody Marys and you can make my recipe for 'Aunts on a log' by covering the celery with spray cheese and raisins (or those M&M's we talked about!).

My recipe for a Bloody Mary is perfect for the busy Yacht Club guest. You just add one can of V8 to a liter of vodka and shove a celery stick in there if you want to get all fancy. Kids today like those drinks with chicken nuggets or some such in them. You can use the spray cheese to spackle a chicken nugget on a stalk of celery and top it off with an olive. Now you've got yourself one of those 18 dollar Disney Springs drinks!
(The sad part about that joke is that it's true...)

I hope you have the best vacation. I have a feeling this vacation will be more relaxing and at a slower pace so that you can really enjoy the Yacht Club. I'm always torn in many different directions with everything that is going on at Disney. With fewer offerings in the parks that leaves more time to enjoy the resort.

Anyone know if the Surrey bikes are out and for rent at the BC/YC? Was over on the Boardwalk this weekend and there were none. I know it is pretty dead over there. Bringing my Grandtinker in two weeks and would love to take a ride around the lake. Hoping BC/YC has them for rent so we can spend an afternoon riding around.

The only surrey bike rental location/kiosk for the Epcot Resorts area is at the BW. As far as I know there has never been a surrey bike rental location at the BC/YC.

Left our BCV room at 8:30 this morning to walk to DHS and we were off the Mickey and Minnie Railway ride by 9:30. We just got off Slinky and are in a 15min Smugglers Run line, definitely recommend walking to DHS. We will ride some rides until our boarding group 34 is called.

I agree! We walked to DHS from Yacht Club on Sunday and were able to do all of Toy Story Land before the official park opening time. Love the Friendship boats but I was too impatient to wait for one.

Well, today’s the day I pull the plug on vacation #4 2020. We won’t be at YC next week. :sad1: We’re essential workers in our 60s, DH has an underlying health issue. Even with NY’s new testing options, we would still have several days of quarantine when we get home. Our jobs have strict PTO / sick time requirements for leisure travel now which make traveling unrealistic. Plus I help care for my severely health compromised 88 year old mom several days a week. I can’t stay away for weeks & push more on my siblings because I want to go to Disney.

I’m thankful we have taken so many trips before this so we have great memories to look back on. And I keep hanging on the Disboards because it keeps me updated, planning & hopeful for our next trip. I have 3 trips booked so far for 2021. My DH will be 65 in January & is retiring in February. Our DS turns 40! (When did that happen?!) so we’ll be celebrating all that on a long weekend trip in March. We have a week booked already in April. And a quick 3 night stay @ AS Movies with DS & DDIL for the 50th. I expect to book our usual September trip just haven’t gotten around to it yet. I have lots of SW points & a companion pass so DH will fly free next year. Once we can travel again, I will be on the lookout for great airfare & hotel rates. I told DH since he’ll be retired, be ready for me to book quick, short trips if I do. I won’t even mind if the crowds are back by the time we go.

I just can’t believe all the great ADRs that I have to go cancel........

Pre-COVID, surrey bikes were never for rent at BC/YC. You always had to rent them at Boardwalk.

I have not been since COVID started, so I don't know what's happening now.

Best wishes for good health to you and your family and caretaking for your Mom over the winter. I hope the time goes by fast for you and that you can gain some happiness with the planning for your 2021 travels! I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on our BCV/F&W trip for next October 20th!
