Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

We are heading down in two weeks for our first stay at YC and I'm just wondering about Cabana rentals (if there are even still any available this close out.)

We are planning on spending the entire last day (Friday) of our trip at the pool for the most part. Is a cabana rental something I should definitely do?

I'm not sure about availability at this date, but I had reserved a cabana for our pool day when we were there the week of Sept 21st, but I wound up canceling the reservation the day we arrived. My primary reason for booking the cabana was to make sure we had a shady spot to call our own for the entire day, but once we saw the small crowds at the pool we realized that there would be plenty of lounge chairs in the shade. If we ever stay at the YC once the world (and the crowds) gets back to "normal" I will definitely reserve a cabana. Enjoy Your Stay!

Does anyone know if Ship Shape is open yet? It's a little confusing on the Disney website
The fitness center was open at the end of August when we were there. I didn’t use it personally. Not sure what the mask rules are in there but a friend wound up leaving fairly quickly because they were uncomfortable.

We were at Riviera in August and the fitness center was open--I believe that is the case at all the WDW resorts. There was a sign posted on the door requiring masks but we walked by several times and saw through the windows that people were exercising without masks, so no enforcement apparently.

You can also bring your own life jacket. I specifically asked 2 weeks ago.

Thanks for sharing that info!

Thanks! We arrive Thursday for 9 nights. Hopefully they do some soft openings this week.

:welcome: to the thread!

Sorry I didn't have a chance to welcome you before your trip. Hope the rest of your stay is wonderful.

:goodvibes

I searched but couldn't find/missed the info.

Do the rooms at Yacht Club currently have coffee makers, and if so, what type?

Thanks.

:welcome: to the thread!

Great question- my very first post to this thread was about the coffeemaker in the rooms.

When is your trip?

:cool1:

Was there a few days prior to you and visited the Market often for refills and ordered a couple of meals. Kudos to the staff there, from the managers on down, for busting their butts for every guest. But that place is inadequate; it’s always been inadequate. In current climate, it’s horribly inadequate. I have a photo of 6 CMs crammed into the food prep area, trying to fill several orders while guests wait.

I like to do Poly/YC split stays, and the difference in the quick service experience is immense.

Thanks for sharing your observation about the Market at Ale & Compass.

Can anyone confirm the current hours for SAB please? Is it still 10am - 10pm? Thanks in advance!

:welcome: to posting on the thread and

BUMP!!!

Are these still the hours?

:fish:

Officially just switched over from BC to YC! Our dates are 1/3/2021-1/9/2021. We originally had a club level water view room in BC, booked but, still hoping they bring club back before we go. Still kinda torn on the switch because Beach Club our families favorite resort. Nonetheless SAB should be fun even in January! Question on room requests, has anyone ever tried using touring plans recommendation in requesting rooms? Is that actually a beneficial way to help the room assigner?

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15.

New Pumpkin Spiced Butter Pecan Shake at Beaches & Cream is a Spooky Sweet Treat

View attachment 528852

Beaches and Cream at the Yacht and Beach Club hits a homerun with Halloween Drink
Halloween fun by serving their new Pumpkin Spiced Butter Pecan Shake. Literally, this treat has emerged as “the icing on the cake” (well, actually the cupcake) for the soda shop this Halloween.
This delectable shake is a pumpkin-spiced butter pecan shake with chocolate sauce and orange icing topped with a pumpkin cupcake and decorated with assorted chocolate pieces.

:welcome: to posting on the thread!

Wow!!!

That's something!

Just found out our waitlist came through last night for BCV beginning of November. Literally have waitlisted this every year we owned DVC, and this is the first time it came through. It has been about 6-years since we stayed at BCV, so looking forward to that POOL!!!

Do you "Stalk the RAT" in addition to waitlisting? People have found that if they constantly check the DVC member website, they sometimes see the dates they want, even though they have waitlisted. Nobody knows exactly when or how the waitlist pulls dates when somebody cancels. (That section of the website used to be referred to as the Resort Availability Tool, hence the phrase "Stalk the RAT.")

How is Yacht Club since reopening. We are thinking of making our week at pop into a split stay with Pop and ending with 3 nights at YC. It would be a garden view room. Are there any suggestions on Garden Views that may also have a partial view of the lake or pool? Would love to have a partial water view that is considered a garden view. Do all the rooms have a balcony or will there be a chance we don't get one?

Ask for a gazebo view and you will have a good chance of a partial view of the lake. There are only a couple of rooms that don't have a balcony.

Do you have to over ride the thermostat at the Yacht to keep the room cool? If so, how do you do that?

We'll be there too! I can't believe we're saying this, but just literally a moment ago booked at YC in 2 weeks time (Oct 14-18)! Got my park reservations right away and moving on to dining. I must be nuts!

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list!

So bummed that I just had to cancel my park trip & YC reservation for mid-October. 😔 Since my DD9 is back in person at school, we would have to quarantine for 2 weeks and do remote learning - no thank you!

On the bright side, I did just book a trip during Christmas break...unfortunately, not at YC due to the crazy high cost!

Sorry to hear that.

Wishing you a wonderful holiday trip!

Random question: what are my chances of snagging a weekend at Beach Club? I have Friday and Sunday booked but the Saturday in November seems to be the tricky one! I just keep looking (this is through DVC)

:welcome: to this thread!

I don't really have any insight about what your chances are- I agree with Best Aunt- past experiences don't necessarily apply.

The info below from @MIDisFan seems like a good plan to follow.

::yes::

You can call member services to see if they have a cash room available for that Saturday and they can link that with the other two nights so you don't have to change rooms. If you do get that night on cash, keep checking for that night on points and/or wait list it. Availability keeps bouncing around so best of luck.

Thank you for the excellent suggestion!

:thanks:

I was able to get Beach Club on Tuesday for this weekend for my son. That was 3 days in advance. With people canceling because of the virus and travel restrictions anything can happen.

:welcome: to posting here!

Thanks so much for sharing your recent experience about booking on short notice!

:thanks:

Does anyone know if the pools are heated at Yacht and Beach club right now? Thanks

:welcome: to the thread.

Do you have an upcoming trip booked?

I don't know about the heating policies for SAB, so I will defer to other's comments.

:fish:

My understanding is the pools are heated year round to 82 degrees as needed--so looking at current temps I would assume it is being heated but couldn’t say for sure. That said, in the past we have noticed some parts of the cool are colder than others—the lazy river for one seems colder to us.

Thanks!!!

:cool2:

Here now, leave tomorrow after a week’s stay in Villas.

Market Place opened this morning, nice set up.

Main elevators were down for part of the week, took two days of service to get them both up and running again.

Park crowds have increased over the last few weeks, weekends especially at HS are almost “busy”

:welcome: to posting on this forum and thank you for sharing your observances.

We fly out next Wednesday...excited to see the new Market Place. Was there over Labor Day and the little shop over at Yacht Club was struggling to handle the demand for hot food.

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the list.

:cool2:

Are there REALLY Minnie waffles???? I will totally change my reservation to there! My daughter will be over the moon!!!

:welcome: to this thread!

Do you have an upcoming trip at the resort?

When?

:cool1:

We had to move our trip originally scheduled for late October. We will now be there at the Yacht Club from Nov 10-18. Praying the Cruise Cup will open up :)

Got it!

I'll update the Be Our Guest list.

::yes::

I'm planning on walking to DHS for at least two mornings on an upcoming YC stay-- is there a certain portion of the resort I should request a room in that would shorten the walk a bit? I've heard some resorts have restrictions right now with only being able to enter the hotel through the main lobby; not sure if YC is one of them.

:welcome: to this forum!

When is your trip?

Close to lobby would be one request that would get you onto the walking path sooner, but there are other "secret" (not so secret) exits from the YC that you could use if you are placed in other areas of the resort.

I believe you can find descriptions of these alternate exits on Page 1, Post 9 (Yacht Club Post).

Do you have to over ride the thermostat at the Yacht to keep the room cool? If so, how do you do that?
We tried doing that at AKL with no luck. I had to go to the desk and have them send someone to do it. She was very reluctant to do it and would only set it for a couple of days.

Scheduled for a 1Br BCV for 11/15-11/19 and really looking forward to it! Based on my research, it sounds like the views aren't much to write home about but are there any suggestions for room requests?

Common requests that don't work at BCV the way people expect:

Near elevators:
Don't do it unless you have mobility issues. If you get one of those rooms, you can hear the elevators whirring as well as hear the constant dinging of the bell when the elevator arrives. It's really annoying.

Overlooking BCV pool:
It can be noisy. Depends who is using the pool and how loud they decide to get.

Ground floor near the BCV pool:
Some people think that if they get a ground floor room near the pool, they can walk out the patio door to get to the pool. That won't work because (a) they put up landscaping to prevent it, and (b) you can't lock the patio door from the outside.
